Wish I had moves like those . . .
I started watch America's Best Dance Crew (ostensibly Randy Jackson'sABDC, but alas he is nowhere to be found) a couple of weeks ago.Unfortunately for me, I came in late to the competition, but what I'veseen has been amazing. AND! It's hosted by AC Slater. (I sense a themefor SBTB alums: hosting reality dance shows.)

Anywho. One of theteams is from Kokomo, Indiana. Being that we're practically neighborsand all, I'd have to support them. The thing that's amazing though, isthat they dance while on roller skates. It sounds goofy, I know, butit's really breathtaking. Last week the challenge for all the teams wasto recreate in their own style some of Michael Jackson's iconic dancemoves, while dancing to a song from the Thriller album which celebratedit's 25th anniversary. Breaksk8 chose "Beat It." Check it out foryourself. )

hmmm
Is it wrong that I misread the headline from Reuters Oddly Enough feed on my
google homepage as "Juno takes aim at latest Rambo movie" and immediately
flashed to a snarky pregnant 16 year-old girl looking to mess up Sly
Stalone, when the headline was actually
"Junta takes aim at latest Rambo movie"
.

Oh, brain. You are too weird.

Brand Spanking New
Happy (belated) 2008! My new year is starting off pretty well--I have had a photo of Karlovo namesti in Prague chosen to be shown in Schmap's Guide to Prague. How exciting! They chose my picture from my flickr page, and asked me to submit it. I had never heard of Schamp before, but now I'll definitely be checking it out next time I travel.

Bday
Tonight we took my dad out to Thai 9 for his birthday. We had wonderful food--I had Chicken Thai Spicy. Yum, yum. On the way home, my dad stopped to get dog food and a frisbee for my frisbee-obsessed dog, Toby. He got a squeaky toy for our other dog, Andy, who loves it to bits. He taunted the neighbor dogs by laying down in the middle of the back yard and squeaking his toy while Toby chased his frisbee.

Cute Cutie Baby Violet
People has a set of pictures of Ben, Jen, & Violet Affleck throughout this year. I swear, she is the
cutest baby. I especially like the picture of Spy!Grandaddy Victor Garber
with Jen and Violet, but the pic of Ben in his white tube socks, swim
trunks, and white t-shirt is comedy gold. Also, it doesn't hurt that Matt
Damon is hanging out with them in that particular pic. Damon makes everyone
look good.

I hate posting by email, but I can't log in during work. grrr.

Bitch Crazy
I thought the sockpuppets we had in fandom on lj were bad, but this
NYTimes article puts them to shame.

A grown woman made a sockpuppet account as a 16 year old boy on myspace to
figure out why her daughter's friend had ended the friendship. She flirted
with this 13 year old girl as the boy then dropped her, telling her the
world would be a better place without her in it. The girl commited suicide
shortly after. Turns out the grown woman lives 4 houses down from the
girl's parents.

Why are people so twisted? Seriously, what is wrong with her?

Snow Snow Snow Snow Snow!
*cues Irving Berlin music*

The first snow flurries of the season have hit! We have had very odd
weather lately, what with the temperate weather yesterday and the
precipitous drop in temperature last night/this morning.
I know the snow (ha! I wrote show first) won't last, but it's fun to watch.

It's another 12
of 12
and I've missed it already, even though it's only 9:00 in
the morning. I lost my camera, and then found it last night, but
forgot to put it in my purse, so I've missed my chance to participate
this month. I won't get home until almost 9 tonight. boo.

What?
Reuters has a great section of odd news, called "Oddly Enough." I have this
feed on my google homepage, and today there is a story about a questionable
German
Advent Calendar.
What makes this story, though, is the picture on the
left of the story--Santa holding a crying baby, presumably scared by the
serial killer featured on the Advent calendar.

How cute is this picture

again. :)

technology hates me!
I seem to have entered a klutziness phase in my life, specifically when
interacting with technological items that I own. Last week, my dog got
caught up in the powercord to my laptop, knocking it off the table and to
the floor. Then Friday, I dropped it on the floor as well! Fortunately,
everything seems to be working fine now, but I'm being extra careful with
it.

This morning I dropped my cell phone on the floor, and then proceeded to
spill water on it. This isn't as bad as it could be, as it's actually a
hand-me-down phone from my dad, and I'm eligible for an upgrade next week.
I only wish it hadn't happened before my scheduled trip to Nashville this
weekend! :/

SYTYCD
Last night's SYTYCD Tour stop was amazing. AMAZING. I cannot believe how
much better the dances are when you experience them live in front of you on
stage rather than through the tv. The caliber of talent on this show is
unbelievable. The show seemed to fly by in an instant, even though I knew
that it really lasted 2 1/2 hours. The top 10 were there along with some of
my favs: Anya! Hok! Jesus!!! Shauna! And this stop featured the return
of Lacey Schwimmer!

I will have more on the stop posted to Ducky
Does TV
.

Now I'm on the hunt for a SYTYCD icon

P.S. Today's daily puppy
is too cute.

Canned Heat
I am so excited for Tuesday night. I'm going to the So You Think You Can Dance Tour, and I'm going to be blogging for Ducky Does TV. I wish I had the time (and money!) to go to more than one stop on the tour.

MTV ran a marathon of Season 2 of SYTYCD last weekend, and it inspired me to add more dance to my life. My Mondays are already filled with irish step dance, and Sundays now are spent getting ready for our Midwest Regionals in Chicago next month. I've added zumba classes on Wednesdays and Thursdays, which adds some latin dance styles to the mix. I'm having trouble with my arm & foot coordination, as my arms are ornaments, not instruments (at least that's what my teacher says!).
