About
This is an extension of the GimpGirl Community, a place where women with all kinds of disabilities (and abilities) have come together to talk about what it means to be a "gimp girl" since 1998.

PLEASE READ BELOW FOR INFO ON JOINING THIS COMMUNITY

GimpGirl Community celebrates its 13th Anniversary!

Started in February 1998, the GimpGirl Community has been a long-time resource for women with disabilities, hosting mailing lists, sponsoring polls, and publishing a newsletter at one time. In addition to this LiveJournal group, we're also becoming active on Facebook, as well as Twitter, Flickr and the virtual community of Second Life. See our website for more details.

Stay tuned for more updates, and let us know what you want to see!

A happy hello to those of you who were GGC list members; so glad to see you here!

Welcome, and feel free to get in touch with any questions or comments.

Please note:

  • Posting:
Only members can post to this community. However, others may be able to read public posts. In keeping with our theme of a safe and confidential place, you are encouraged to make your posts "Friends-Only", particularly when discussing a sensitive or private topic. (See the FAQ for information on posting and security levels.)

  • Moderated posts:
Posts to this community are moderated, which means they are reviewed by a moderator before being posted. This is done to keep the community a safe and supportive place, and to make sure it is accessible to those using assistive technology. (No flaming, please)

  • Joining:
As with posting, joining this community is a moderated process. LiveJournal has recently made changes to community joining. When you click the link at the top of this page to join the community, your request will be forwarded to the moderators for approval. This is the only way to join gimpgirl (or any moderated community).

To help us approve requests, we'd appreciate it if you let us know a bit of who you are and why you'd like to join (leave a comment in the journal's welcome message, or contact aleja or jennylin directly). Don't worry, we won't bite. :)

Many thanks to those who donated invite codes in the past.
