"Never in the history of the world has there been a situation so bad that the government can't make it worse."

"Only the wisest and stupidest of men never change."

"Everyone is a prisoner of his own experiences. No one can eliminate prejudices - just recognize them."
-Edward Roscoe Murrow

"It is harder to crack a prejudice than an atom."
-Albert Einstein

"What lies behind us, and what lies before us are small matters compared to what lies within us."
-Ralph Waldo Emerson

"I never have a bad day because in the long run, I know that I'm a winner."
-Freddy Deeb

"Raising wins more often than folding."

"The line separating investment and speculation, which is never bright and clear, becomes blurred still further when most market participants have recently enjoyed triumphs. Nothing sedates rationality like large doses of effortless money. After a heady experience of that kind, normally sensible people drift into behavior akin to that of Cinderella at the ball. They know that overstaying the festivities -- that is, continuing to speculate in companies that have gigantic valuations relative to the cash they are likely to generate in the future -- will eventually bring on pumpkins and mice. But they nevertheless hate to miss a single minute of what is one helluva party. Therefore, the giddy participants all plan to leave just seconds before midnight. There’s a problem, though: They are dancing in a room in which the clocks have no hands."
-Warren Buffett in 2000 on the tech bubble

"Orgies tend to be wildest toward the end. It's like being Cinderella at the ball. You know that at midnight everything's going to turn back to pumpkins & mice. But you look around and say, 'one more dance,' and so does everyone else. The party does get to be more fun -- and besides, there are no clocks on the wall. And then suddenly the clock strikes 12, and everything turns back to pumpkins and mice."
-Warren Buffett in 2006 on the credit bubble

"As long as the music is playing, you've got to get up and dance. We're still dancing."
-Chuck Prince, former CitiGroup CEO, July 2007 just before the subprime credit meltdown

"You only find out who is swimming naked when the tide goes out."
-Warren Buffett once again

"In addition to trying to determine how to make money one must also try to keep from losing money. It is almost as important to know what not to do as to know what should be done."
-Jesse Livermore

"The welfare state has always been judged by its good intentions, rather than its bad results."
-Thomas Sowell

"Capitalism, and capitalism alone, has rescued the human race from degrading poverty, rampant sickness and early death."
-Lew Rockwell

"No one can possibly achieve any real and lasting success by being a conformist."
-J. Paul Getty

Most of Corey's personal investment and poker posts are friends only, so you will need to 'friend' him to get the juicy entries.

His political philosophy has a Libertarian bent. In other words, he's a proponent of small national government, low taxes, free markets, civil liberties and personal responsibility. He hates the country's social security ponzi scheme and ridiculous pork spending/earmarks.

He enjoys a variety of musical artists, but his favorite are in the alternative rock/punk/indie genre, ala Blink 182, Nirvana, Green Day, Everclear, Offspring, The White Stripes and the Killers. A more recent interest is the Silversun Pickups. He thinks U2 is the most over-rated band ever since they haven't released a good song since Sunday Bloody Sunday.

Some of his favorite movies are: The Shawshank Redemption, Forrest Gump, The Matrix, American Beauty and The Lives of Others (the best movie that you've never seen).

The only sports team that he is passionate about is the Kansas City Chiefs (well, and his fantasy football teams).

A few more interesting things about Corey:

One of the youngest persons ever to become a CFA Charterholder (Chartered Financial Analyst) and member of the CFA Institute

Economics degree from Missouri State University

Has studied the stock market for over 20 years

Obtained a Black Belt in Taekwondo at age 12

So, basically, he's smart and kicks ass ;-)
