If I have friended you, this post will give you the more pertinent details. For the rest of you, keep reading.
I am attempting to redo my profile after realizing that my last interests list was about five years old, and not terribly reflective of 34 year old me. 27 year old me and 34 year old me have some things in common, but not many.
I am a 34 year old working her best to make her 30's better than her 20's. I'm married to the wonderful davehogg and the mother of 15 year old brittanyaliera. I graduated Summer 2008 with a paralegal degree and I work for a plaintiff's law firm in Birmingham, where I rejoice in wearing jeans and sandals to work every day and work with minimal supervision.
I'm a sci-fi/fantasy geek who isn't afraid to let her inner 12 year old shine. I like doing grown up things, but I'm not afraid to spend the afternoon playing video games, watching kid's movies, or goofing around at Cedar Point with my kid. I've found that life is best lived how you are happiest, and I've worked hard to integrate all the different aspects of my personality into a life that works. You can be the Grown Up With The Respectable Job, and you can get together with your friends and heckle 80's movies or watch cartoons. I used to identify with the phrase "Cleverly Disguised as a Responsible Adult", but I've realized that you can be a Responsible Adult and still find time to throw on the jeans and the teeshirts and go be child-like for a while.
(And there's a difference between childish and child-like.)
My journal is friends-only because there are people out there who don't need to know what I'm doing every moment. I'm likely to friend people back, however. Just comment on my public post.
I'm writing this pretty free-form, so it'll probably get edited and changed, but for now, here it is. I am me, and I'm working very hard to be unapologetic about who I am, while simultaneously working to make sure I'm the best Me there is.
Loved our Once in a Lifetime trip so much we have to go back! ;)
I am having far more fun in my 30's than I had in my 20's, and I'm loving it.
