|Summary:||New Scrapbook and altering image|
Hello, how do I alter my image in my new scrapbook? Every time I download a vertical photo it keeps showing it horizontally. What am I to do to alter it?
Diagnostics: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:18.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/18.0

Thank you for your report, and I apologize for the delay in responding to your request. Scrapbook does not have any built in function to rotate images; do you have a link to an image where the rotation is incorrect (showing horizontal when it should be vertical)?

Thank you for your reply. However, both of these images are non-public. Is it possible for you to make them publicly viewable? Or alternately, do you have another image that you can upload that you know exhibits this behavior that you can make a public image?

Thank you for responding back, and I apologize for the additional delay. We haven't been able to make this happen, even using this same image. If we upload it vertically, it still shows vertically in all our testing.
Was this image taken with a cell phone camera? If so, did you upload it on your desktop or laptop computer, or using your phone?

Then how can you explain what happens to my uploading? This image was taken with a regular camera and uploaded from my desktop computer. It's been happening quite a while with no improvement.

I'm sorry, but we don't have any suggestions as to why this image is uploading incorrectly rotated for you. I saved the image you provided to us, rotated the image outside of LiveJournal and saved it, and then uploaded the image to my own Scrapbook as a test -- it uploaded correctly, in the proper orientation:
You may wish to try saving a new copy of the image in the correct orientation on your computer (perhaps as a different type of file, such as .png or .gif to ensure that an entirely new image is created), and then try uploading the new image to your Scrapbook once again to see if it uploads correctly when you do so.

Thank you for your report. This occurs because the image you have uploaded includes data which instructs image viewing software to rotate the image when it is viewed. In some cases, these instructions are being ignored by LiveJournal. In some cases, however, they are, such as http://ic.pics.livejournal.com/rivka_ch/1079697/144211/144211_original.jpg.
This issue has been forwarded to LiveJournal developers. You may wish to watch the lj_releases community at [http://lj_releases.livejournal.com/profile], where a fix will be announced once it has been implemented. I apologize for the inconvenience.
