Summary:Entries in Inbox and messages have diapperared...
Original Request:
Entries that I've been saving in my 'Inbox' and 'Messages sent' have disappeared. Very old entries (o/one year) are still there! Will they ever be able to be retrieved?

Are the very old messages that are still there flagged?

I'm forwarding this to our operations team to investigate. To help them investigate:

1) Do any of your recent logins (http://www.livejournal.com/manage/logins.bml) come from an IP address that isn't your own?

2) When (approximately) was the last time you can confirm your inbox still had all messages that it should?

1) Not from me and I'm not aware of anyone else using my Lj. I use my laptop and occasionally my Blackberry and I am the only user of both devises.

2) I think it was at about 3am (UK time) just before I went to bed...but, tbh, I don't scrutinise my inbox and I just suddenly noticed this am when I was deleting the superfluous overnight entries.

I apologize for the delay in responding to your request. The behavior you describe, that messages were deleted which were not flagged, is consistent with what the "delete all" button at the bottom of http://www.livejournal.com/inbox/ does. We unfortunately lack logs of actions taken within the inbox to confirm this button was unintentionally used, but will be adding better logging in the near future. I'm also strongly suggesting the "delete all" button be removed, as its usefulness is limited and it is very capable of deleting large amounts of information a person did not intend to delete. Unfortunately, the messages which were deleted cannot be recovered.
