I’m also doing this so that, on the rare occasion that my host’s servers go down, I have a backup.

I made a similar move with previous websites of mine: before WebJump went out of business, I created a mirror for LSP Online at Netfirms; later, when my Netfirms site was my primary one, I created a mirror at FortuneCity. After LSP Online’s days ended, I created a mirror for MingerWeb at Akshor. (That mirror was since taken offline.) It’s always a good strategy to have a backup, and I’ve followed that strategy very consistenly.

Of course, I do have an alterior motive. I’m just desperate to see what’s inside Chris Schlechter’s elusive LiveJournal, which is “friends only.” (Hint, hint; nudge, nudge.)

The best part about this mirror is that it’s automatic. For three days now, I’ve struggled to figure out how MTLJPost works. MTLJPost is a plugin for Movable Type (my weblogging software) that automagically copies my MT entries over to LiveJournal – no buttons pushed. As it turns out, the only thing I did wrong those three days was that I placed one little file, <samp class="file file-name">post.pl</samp> in the wrong folder. (That part of the instructions really needs to be clarified.)

A mirror like this will be quite handy when another hacking raid occurs with the St. X Student Webring.

<lj-raw>

I havent been feeling well lately and when I told Mom about it, she nagged at me for not sleeping enough.
Well, you cant blame me when schoolwork is really taking a toll on us. Sigh.
As mentioned in my earlier post, CommSkills paper yesterday sucked shit. To think that it's gonna take up 30% of our final grade.
Urgh.
Part of me is relieved that it's FINALLY OVER hence I can totally forget about it when the Semestral Exams come BUT part of me still do not feel too good about it and wished that I'd done better yesterday.
'Cos one thing's for sure now, I know my A has flew by and I have doubts about doing well. URGH. Honestly, one and a half hours is NOT ENOUGH dammit. :(

Well, I guess there's no use mourning over it now.

<lj-raw>

I ended up going to the 10 pm show of the Dark Knight tonight with my sister and her girlfriend. I was in a theater of the most excitable people in the world. Seriously, I almost spilled my popcorn because some lady screamed so loud at one part. Not that I can say anything because when I saw The Ring I ended up screaming for like a thirty seconds at the end. And I couldn't even see anything because my head was in my sweatshirt. Damn, I hate that movie.

I get the feeling my dad is going to want to see the Dark Knight tomorrow too. Not that I have a problem with that. Five is my record for seeing a movie in theaters, by the way. It was the Two Towers.

I also get a new cell phone tomorrow, whee!

Title: El Verano
Characters: Sergio Ramos/Fernando Torres, Andrés Iniesta, David Silva
Word Count: 3,616
Rating: M, swearing and underage kissing?
Disclaimer: All lies.
Author’s Notes: Semi AU, you could say. Set between 2002-2003, so Sergio is 16 and Fernando is 18. Sergio hasn’t been promoted to Sevilla’s first team but is about to be, and Fernando has spent the season in Segunda with Atlético Madrid, but reached the U-19 world finals with Spain and was top goal scorer. Empanadas and Albariño wine are signature dishes in Galicia, and Tortas de Aceite is a pastry dessert from Sevilla. “Fer” is apparently what Fernando’s friends call him, and gitano is a popular nickname for Sergio. Thanks to <lj user="greeniebach"> and <lj user="rhetoricwords"> for the betas.

<lj-cut text="We need another player. You wouldn’t happen to be a defender, would you?">

A trip to Galicia was what everyone needed, Jose María Ramos decided one evening.

“Galicia?” a sixteen-year-old Sergio asked lazily, looking up from his orange at his parents. His father nodded, and patted his youngest son on the head.

“It’s the summer. There’s no football, but don’t you worry. The first team will come calling, niño.”

Sergio has no doubts the first team will come calling. He never has, nor will he. But Galicia?

“Why not go to Madrid? It’s only two hours away by train. Galicia is on the other side of Spain. It’ll be like another country.” Sergio complained, sitting upright. The orange slid off his stomach and into his lap, smearing his shorts with juice.

Jose María rolls his eyes. Always so full of questions, his youngest was.

“My work has an apartment there that they lend out to employees during the summer months. It’s been offered to me, and I think I’m going to take it. We all need to get out of Sevilla for a while. Your sister especially- I want her away from that boy!” Jose María spits, and Sergio picks up his orange and resumes peeling it. He keeps away from his sister’s love affairs, preferring instead to deal with his own or to focus on training with Sevilla B.

*

He bids farewell to Stefanía, smugly receiving secret kisses from her while his parents load the taxi for the airport.

“Come home soon, Sergio!” she begs frantically, kissing the corner of his mouth. Sergio nods, already tiring of her dramatics, but plays the part of the (semi)faithful boyfriend and submits to her coddling. He wonders what the girls are like in Galicia. Beautiful, he supposes. Spain is yet to show him an ugly woman.

He gets into the car and waves goodbye to her, watching as the flat breeze whips her sundress around gently, showing the caramel legs he had experienced the joys of only two weeks before. He smiles at the memory and settles down between Rene and Mirian, holding his ball close.

*

They arrived in Galicia eleven hours after they leave Camas, and Sergio watched the sun dip behind the horizon as his father organized a car for them to use for the next three weeks. A group of girls sat in chairs nearby and he felt their eyes raking his body. He ran a hand through newly tinted hair and smiled at them, and they smiled back, giggling behind their hands. He turned to Rene, who was struggling with a suitcase he recognized as his own.

“A little help, pajero?” Rene snapped, staggering backwards as he tried to shove the suitcase in the boot. Sergio shrugged and turned back to the girls, sauntering up to them. They’ll need directions to the best restaurants and amusements while they’re in this godforsaken place, won’t they?

*

The apartment is large and spacious, and someone has called ahead and stocked the place full with food and changed the sheets. It smells of spices and raspberries, and Paqui bustles into the kitchen, inspecting the cleanliness.

“You three go off and eat while we unpack all your things. Bring us back some food, too!” she instructs, waving them off with money clinking in their pockets. The air was slightly muggy but not overly so, and Sergio decided he could get used to this. With directions from the girls he met earlier, he led them to a place barely five minutes away. It was relatively full but there were plenty of tables around, and they sat down and ordered quickly.

“So, what’re you two getting up to?” Rene asked his siblings. Sergio shrugged, looking around at the people.

“Looking for some girls, or a place to play football.” Mirian’s answer was similar, except shopping and sunbathing is on the agenda.

Sergio’s eyes kept wandering, stopping at a table close to their own. There looked to be two families, joined together by the young couple between them. The boy had dark brown hair and a ridiculous amount of freckles, and was laughing at a joke his older brother had told. The girl next to him also had dark brown hair, but was more classically beautiful and curvier. Sergio eyed her until Rene kicked him under the table and he snapped back to their conversation.

“Those two look happy. Don’t destroy any relationships while we’re here,” Mirian said lazily, dipping her bread into oil and bringing it to her mouth. Rene laughed, and Sergio glowered. Their food arrived and they ate in silence, occasionally breaking it to ask for condiments or an idle question. They ordered dinner for their parents and emerged into the night, their stomachs full and their minds at ease.

“Maybe Papa was right- this holiday is a good idea. I feel the stress melting away,” Rene joked, and Mirian slung an arm around her younger brother, pulling Sergio close.

“I think it was more for us three, Rene. We haven’t exactly been close lately, and you know how much that annoys Mama,” she said, and Rene looped an arm around her. Sergio stared up at the sky, wondering if the scouts at Sevilla had seen any of his games, and what Stefanía was doing. Probably fucking that guy from up the road, Antonio. He’d suspected it for a while now. Maybe it was best for him to move on.

*

A week passed and he turned two shades darker from spending every day at the beach, and both his parents and siblings were visibly relaxed and happier. Whatever made them happy made him happy.

He took a ball and walked out into the street, dressed in a white tank top and cut off jeans, leather slip-ons on his feet. They were easy to remove and he preferred to play football with bare feet, his hair whipping in the wind behind him. The sun beat down on his bare arms as he peered around, looking for an area to practice his juggling in. After asking an elderly man at a fruit stall, he found a large patch of grass framed with trees, what looked to be a game of nine aside playing in the distance.

He took off his shoes and began to juggle under the shade of a large tree, focusing in the sounds of the plastic hitting his bare feet and the small twinges of pain that emanated. He didn’t even notice one of the boys stopping in the game to look over, or him motioning over and then leaving the game, jogging toward him. Not until the “Oye!”, which broke his concentration and all-time record of 45 in a row.

Sergio looked to see the same boy from the restaurant, with the curvy girlfriend and huge family. The look on his face must have been slightly disturbed, as the boy laughed nervously.

“Sorry if I startled you. I know how it gets, when you concentrate like that…” he said, trailing off and motioning at the ball. He rubbed the back of his neck, and Sergio shook his head.

“No, it’s fine. What’s up?” He asked, picking the ball up and walking closer. The boy grinned, and gestured behind him.

“We need another player. You wouldn’t happen to be a defender, would you?” He asked, sounding desperate. Sergio smirked.

“Right back. You?” It was customary, really. The boy’s face burst into a grin, wrinkles gathering at the sides of his eyes.

“Striker. C’mon, come play. You seem good, and we’re losing 3-0 right now. I can’t leave this park if those cabrónes win!” The boy seemed genuinely annoyed with the concept, and Sergio couldn’t help but smile at his passion.

“Wait, I don’t even know your name!” He called as the boy begins to jog away. He turned around, his smile as wide as the sun.

“Just call me Fer!” He didn’t ask for Sergio’s name, and Sergio had a feeling he wouldn’t have to give it for a long time.

*

Sergio discovered the weakness in the left flank very quickly, and exploited it to score a goal and set up another within the first ten minutes of joining. Fer whooped and jumped on him when he scored, and Sergio’s senses were overwhelmed with grass, sweat and deodorant. He was dazed when Fer finally got off him, pulling him to his feet and into an almost bone crushing hug. This kid was at least ten pounds lighter than Sergio is, but Sergio’s ribs were the ones hurting.

The game finished 4-3 after a controversial penalty was given right outside the box, when an albinoesque kid from Albacete shoved Sergio in the back and he ate grass. His temper dictated that he gets and level the pendejo, but he was in another province now and he didn’t have his friends waiting on the sidelines to assist him. He just pulled himself to his feet and brushed off his shirt, spitting out grass and wiping his face as he went. Fer came up to him and rubbed his face with his shirt, laughing as Sergio glared. The albino sheepishly apologized and Sergio took it graciously, planning on making him pay with a tackle from hell later on. He didn’t get the chance when the whistle blew and Fer jumped into his arms, sending him sprawling on the evergreen grass.

*

Fer invited him back to his place for lunch, along with the albino and a kid from Las Palmas, and they tucked into empanadas and Albariño wine. Sergio made them Tortas de Aceite as a thank you for letting him play, and they applauded his culinary efforts.

“My sister is a horrible cook, and my brother has no time, so my mother passes on all the recipes and the skill to me,” Sergio explained to Fer as he worked, Fer sitting on the bench and passing him the ingredients. The albino, who gave his name as Andrés, and the kid from Las Palmas called David, had been sent to the store to get more wine. Both were small, and Sergio wondered how they’d pass for being old enough.

“It’s no matter. Andrés’s uncle owns the local wine store. He’s Catalan yet has family here. Who’d have thought?” Fer explained, inhaling the sweet smell and grinning, content.

“I saw you the other day,” Sergio began, and Fer nodded.

“I know. I recognized you today, as the boy from the restaurant. You didn’t look very happy to be there.” Sergio blushed, and wondered how long Fer had been looking at him to realize that.

“Don’t worry, I wasn’t staring at you like a weird stalker or anything. I just…glanced over a lot. It was written all over your face. Don’t you want to be here?” He asked, placing a hand on Sergio’s arm, stroking it gently, and just like that, they cross a line.

Sergio stared down at his frypan and Fer stiffened next to him, but Sergio looked up and smiled at him. He looked at Fer’s chest, and Sergio knew something life changing was going to happen if he didn’t collect himself and go back to his cooking, but Fer was getting closer and he knew it was that blasted wine—

“Dios mio, you wouldn’t believe how much trouble I had to go through to get this wine!” Andrés called through the door, and they jumped out their skin, Sergio sloshing oil on himself and Fer’s leg.

“Fuck!” Fer gasped, jumping down and grabbing a towel. Sergio was flustered and grabbed another and started dabbing at his leg, trying frantically to remember how to treat oil burns and he really shouldn’t be doing this to Fer’s leg- he’s only sixteen for god’s sake, what is he doing—

“Oil burns are the worst,” David noted from behind Sergio, who straightened up to look at his new friend. He presented him with two bottles of wine and a bread stick, giggling as Andrés tripped over Sergio’s ball and went sprawling over the tiles. Fer burst into laughter behind Sergio, and Sergio couldn’t help but grin as he set David to watch the food and went to help Andrés up.

*

It was late by the time Fer’s family returned, and Fer unsurprisingly offered to walk him home. There was a local festival on, and Sergio swayed gently to the strains of the guitar that float on the heated wind as they walked in a comfortable silence.

“Listen…” Fer began, and Sergio sighed.

“I’m not gay. I don’t…know what that was, this afternoon. But I’m not- gay. I have a girlfriend, and I love her a lot.” Fer looked down at his shoes, and Sergio didn’t exactly want to be having this conversation either.

“I’m not gay either. We’re just young and stupid, let’s leave it at that.” He said, staring up at the stars. It was becoming a habit of his, and he was doing it far too frequently for sanity. They were just so beautiful here; nothing like it in Sevilla. He looked back down and jumped- Fer was right in his face.

He dropped the ball as Fer stroked a cool finger his face, pressing him up against a building, the brick burning him through the thin shirt, his skin burning back.

“But it’s summer, right? And you’re supposed to do stupid stuff in summer, stupid stuff that you wouldn’t dare to do normally. That’s the appeal, no?” He asked, as if expecting Sergio to give him answers he already knew.

“I’m only sixteen-” Sergio started, and Fer snorted.

“Yeah, and I’m the virgin mother. You don’t look it,” He said, his fingers circling around Sergio’s arms. Sergio felt himself swell slightly with pride. Rene always said he was weedy, so did his coach.

“There’s something about you, though. Something weird. Something that makes me want to do stupid, impressive stuff around you. Flaunt my skill- whatever. Just to prove that I’m worth your time,” Fer continued, tracing a finger along his collar bone. Sergio shuddered under the touch, and a smile quirked at Fer’s lips.

“Sounds like you already play football with a good team. I’m the one that should be trying to impress you.” Fer laughed, and Sergio bit his lip.

“Mmm, maybe. Hopefully one day you can say you kissed a superstar,” he whispered as he closed the gap.

Sergio hadn’t ever wondered what it was like to kiss a boy- nay, a superstar in the making. He was all too young for this to be happening, but Fer was older and more experienced, and he smelt good and Galicia fucked with his head, no matter what way he looked at it. Stefanía was definitely banging Antonio from down the street, so he wasn’t entirely at fault for the demise of their young relationship, and he definitely wasn’t letting this boy from god-knows-where stick anything where it didn’t belong, but kissing felt just about right. He finally pulled away, and Sergio found his fingers laced through Fernando’s short hair.

“’Bye,” Fer said, and pressed a kiss to his cheek as he pulled away. Sergio looked behind him to see his apartment, and turned back to an empty street.

*

Paqui was happy he’d found “a little friend to play with”, and Jose María was happy he was staying in shape with football, even though they were supposed to be on a holiday. Rene was too busy trying to romance one of the local girls, and Mirian was far too perceptive for Sergio’s liking.

“You always get that weird, embarrassed smile whenever you talk about Fer. What’s going on?” she asked him one evening, prodding him in the chest. He predictably blushed, and glared at her.

“Nothing’s going on, alright? He’s just a guy I met. We’re friends.” In all honesty, that’s what they were. Since the kiss against his building, nothing had happened. Fer had kept a distance and Andrés and David were none the wiser, and they played football all day, every day in the park, going back to Fer’s and experimenting with local food and wine, bringing their own cultural regions with them.

Andrés has gotten his hands on Catalan cream, and Sergio had sworn he’d never taste anything as divine ever again. David couldn’t cook, but funded the experiments. It became a routine, and Sergio settled happily into it.

He found himself daydreaming about going to school with them, playing football and learning geography and chasing girls, until they broke into La Liga and played for Real Madrid or Barcelona, or Deportivo La Coruña. He supposed it would be rather ironic to play for them, but it was a nice dream, regardless.

Their last week came to an end, and Sergio came home that night to the house packing up, suitcases beginning to gather in the lounge room.

“W-What’s going on?” He asked, forgetting himself. Mirian looked at him from the couch, where she was sorting through her new clothes.

“We’re leaving tomorrow, estúpido. Don’t you remember?” She said, throwing a pair of shoes at Rene as he walked into the room.

“Where’ve you been all day, Sergio? You were supposed to be here to help us pack!” Rene snapped, cuffing him over the head. Paqui bustled in, kissing Sergio’s head and smacking Rene’s arm.

“Leave him be. You two helped. He was out playing with his new friends. Have you said goodbye to them yet, hijo?” She asked, and Sergio shook his head, unable to do anything else.

*

He didn’t sleep at all that night, listening to Rene’s rhythmic snores above him and Mirian muttering in her sleep across the room. He turned on his side and looked at the moon, following its passage across the window until sunlight began to creep into the frame. He got up before anyone else did, showering and pulling on jeans and a shirt, running out into the balmy air and down to the park. It only seemed like a minute he sat down underneath the large tree Fer had discovered him under, when a hand touched his shoulder. He jumped and swore, looking up to see Fer standing there, looking sleepy.

“What’re you doing out?” he asked, plopping down next to him. Sergio couldn’t bring himself to speak.

“I’m leaving today.” Fer’s silence was easy, and Sergio felt cheated out of time.

“I guessed as much. We’re leaving in a few days, and Andrés left last night. His parents got called back to Barça for some family emergency. He wanted me to give you this, and his address and number. He wants us to come stay with him in Barcelona next holidays if we can’t make it to Galicia.” Fer said, handing him a plastic box filled with Catalan cream, and a piece of paper with a name, number and address scrawled onto it. Sergio thanked him, looking back out over the pitch.

“I don’t think I’ve ever had as much fun as I’ve had this summer,” Fer said, and Sergio nodded.

“I mean, I’ve done great things for my country with football. I play for a good team, we’re in Primera next season. I just…what’s happened this summer. It’s good.” He was a loss for words, and Sergio knew he couldn’t leave- not like that.

“Fer, I-” he started, but Fer leaned in and kissed him again. When he pulled away, he had tears in his eyes and Sergio felt his own stinging at the unfairness. To find someone like this; it wasn’t right.

“Take care, gitano.” Fer whispered against his lips and got up, walking off to leave Sergio with his thoughts. He couldn’t bring himself to move until Rene came looking for him, the car packed up and Paqui annoyed at her youngest son’s disappearance.

“C’mon, let’s go!” Rene called, and Sergio stood to join his family. Silent for the car and plane ride, Paqui and Jose María speculated on their child’s lack of conversation.

*

Sergio unpacked in silence, avoiding Stefanía who had a hickey on her neck he knew he didn’t leave, and that new girl Carolina, whom he thought might serve well as his rebound- she reminded him of Fer’s girlfriend in all the right ways. His brother disappeared to work and Mirian into the arms of her boyfriend, much to Jose María’s annoyance. His father headed off to work and Paqui disappeared to restock the house, and Sergio was fast left on his own to contemplate what has just happened to him.

He doesn’t find himself confused, and knows it was the wine, the heat, fucking Galicia. Maybe he dreamt it all up.

~

Sevilla promotes him to the senior team in the summer of 2003, and he spends two seasons there before making history for €27 million to Real Madrid in 2005. He never hears from Fer again, doesn’t pay attention to any media and the words, but he sends a letter a year to Andrés. Both of them avoided telling the other about their status in the world, and they live in that summer, which was good enough for them.

Soon enough, La Selección came calling, and Sergio was ready and willing. It’s March of 2005 when he arrives at the Salamanca camp, almost three years after leaving Galicia, and he finds himself staring into a freckled face that sends a full body shiver through him. His hair is not dark anymore, nor short- it’s longer and blonde, and the look of adulation and confusion on his face must be the mirror of what’s showing on Sergio’s.

Fer walks forward and hugs Sergio, and it’s as if his life moves in slow motion when Andrés joins for the World Cup, and David in November.

sageofjudgment

So today I watched the Doctor Who finale for season four (hell yes I'm not waiting.) So, I watched it, and mostly got it (i always forget when it's on the SciFi channel, and so it makes me sad. sort of. one day i'll watch it more. but whatever.)
So, wait a second, there's a Doctor Twho (yoink! you know who you are) and he's getting left with Rose in the alternate dimension! May I simply say what the hell?! That was wrapped up nicely in Series Two (I actually saw that episode, yay me) and I was damn satisfied with that whole 'OMG SOB' thing I felt when I saw it. (I didn't actually cry. I don't really cry at TV shows/movies. Except the 2004 The Phantom of the Opera film's ending.) But what really made me want to stab something is the techno-babble we all got to hear when Donna became 'Doctor Donna' (must not stab, must not stab computer screen...) and then their accents got really thick for a minute (well, okay, maybe not, but I couldn't understand what in the name of all that is Fire Emblem-y goodness they were saying...SHUT UP!) and then I was just more confused. But the Daleks blowing up was intensely satisfying, even though we all figured it was going to happen. Kind of like you know /somehow, some way/ Link is going to own Ganondorf/the villain at the end of EVERY Zelda game. Anyways, so then I finished watching it, and I was like, wait. I liked the whole 'wipe Donna's mind of all traces of the Doctor/TARDIS/time travel and what not and what-have-you', because there was some emotion and I actually felt a little sad there. And the return of all the companions was more than a little annoying at times. Kind of like the Tales of Symphonia ending, actually. Oh, and may I state that German-speaking Daleks make me smile on the inside, just a little bit there? Also, i want Doctor Twho to become evilly-evil, and killllllllllllllllllllll people, yes, yes! =D

Moving on, today I went and watched stock cars and buses race. Yes, school buses. It was highly amusing. They had a trailer race then, and basically it was all these crappy cars with trailers crashing into each other. last car with trailer atttached wins.

mmm, smoke and crashing makes a girl's day. =D

Picked up an article on the New paper on this. A complex and often confusing topic, merely because information isn’t as widely available as with most organized religions, our next edition takes us to the science and philosophies of ancient Greece and the birth of a religion that would shake the world to its very core.

<!--[if gte mso 9]><xml>

The term Gnostic distinctly refers to “knowledge”, and is personified by a mass movement of multiple pagan religions which shared in the general belief that humanity is made up of divine souls who are trapped in a material world created by the imperfect, perhaps evil god, known as the Demiurge. The Demiurge is counterbalanced by a benevolent and all powerful “God” who is highly mysterious and unknowable, represented by the 4 letters of the divine Tetragrammaton (said to be the true name of the righteous God). As Gnosticism greatly deals in the themes of Duality, there are obvious comparisons to earlier mystery school teachings such as Zoroastrianism and Mithraism among other sacred traditions, some dating back to Pre-Egyptian times. Another obvious relation is primarily founded upon general themes of the Old Testament, while the Kabbalah eventually developed from a Jewish reinterpretation of earlier Hebrew texts, based upon an updated Gnostic approach to the source material. Gnosticism is centered heavily around Greek philosophies, and the famed figure of Plato is heralded as being the originator of the “Demiurge” theme, which he first introduced in his works ‘Timaeus’ and ‘The Republic’. True Gnosticism emerged roughly 250BC, at least a few hundred years before the Gospel of Jesus Christ was to be established, and many Gnostic traditions state that Christ was in fact a celestial messenger and embodiment of the divine Tetragrammaton on earth, who came to establish the wisdom of Gnostic teachings to humanity. Perhaps one of the greatest summaries as to the “secret mystery school” approach of this religion is that most Gnostics generally state that: “faith is for the multitude while knowledge is for the few”. Gnostics see their religion as being superior to, and independent from, faith; based more upon logic, rationality, and overall spiritual clarity. With the mass murder and disbandment of the Cathars, perhaps the most famous Gnostic Order, the religion began to see a slow decline as the newly emergent Sun Cult of Catholicism was introduced to the world in 325AD under the Council of Nicea. Needless to say, the history of the Gnostic traditions would undoubtedly turn into a very lengthy subject, but the texts are initially based upon Old Testament doctrine, as well the Dualistic philosophies of various mystery schools which predate the Gnostic traditions by thousands of years. It is undoubtedly a prime framework for modern day Freemasonry and associated secret societies.

-CHARACTERISTICS: A common misconception about Christian Gnosticism is that it’s primarily a set of philosophies and clandestine teachings which all revolve around the life of Jesus Christ. In fact, there are a variety of primordial deities within the Gnostic traditions, all corresponding primarily to the elements of duality. Perhaps the first goddess we should discuss goes by the name of Pistis, meaning “faith”. She was regarded as the primordial female force of creation and introduced in the Nag Hammadi codices. Her exact origin is never made completely clear while some accounts are confusing and contradictory in places, yet she is the unmistakable female principle which ruled even before the cosmos was created. Pistis is said to have formed out of the “shadow” which evolved into chaos and would ultimately form the material world of this dimension. She is the embodiment of “limitless light” and directly linked to the goddess of Sophia, meaning “wisdom”. Sometimes Sophia (philo-sophia) is regarded as her own individual being, while other times she is simply seen as being created from Pistis; unified they are known as Pistis-Sophia. Together they would strive to fight against the agents of disorder and eventually created the father or “prime parent” of the universe, known as Yaldabaoth, in order to hold dominion over the seven heavens of chaos. He is seen as the male creator god formed from the nothingness of the abyss and given authority over the material realm. Initially Yaldabaoth thinks he is alone in the universe and engenders seven androgynous beings to divide up the cosmos, with him as the principal organizer and chief instructor. After this mystical creation of seven powerful new beings, Pistis-Sophia renames him Samael (the blind god), out of his ignorance to her hidden presence in this reality. Of his seven offspring perhaps the most significant is Sabaoth, who rebels against his father on the side of Pistis-Sophia. When Pistis-Sophia finally reveals herself to him in the guise of pure radiant light, Yaldabaoth finally realizes he wasn’t alone, and is humbled as a child before her insight and wisdom. Yaldabaoth serves as the Demiurge, while Pistis-Sophia is a representative of the true God. Another very notable offspring of Yaldabaoth is Pronoia, meaning “forethought”, sometimes referred to as the voice of the Logos (logic). She’s said to have descended to earth in the form of a human in order to play a part in the inevitable salvation of the world. In psychological terms her name (Pronoia) equates to the opposite of Paranoia, and is also the term for the Greek “divine providence” which states that God ultimately orchestrates the life, actions, and outcome of every individual and historical event to ever take place. There are also the Archon’s, immortal beings who reside in the earthly realms, created by their divine counterparts, serving as messengers and intermediaries to humanity (with much the same purpose of Angels in the Christian Bible). Of course there are many gods and terms, but I believe we just covered a few of the most important ones here.

-MY VERDICT: Gnosticism has influenced a wide variety of notable figures and shapers of culture from William Blake, Albert Pike, Aleister Crowley, Madam Blavatsky, Carl Jung, Philip K. Dick and many more. Yet, despite the association around Christian philosophies and ideals, Gnosticism is not only incorporated with the beliefs of Zorastrianism (as we have noted) but also with much more ancient principles, in particular the pantheon of gods represented in the Egyptian ENNEAD and OGDOAD, or the texts of the Mesopotamian ENUMA ELISH. Here we have many of the same ideals incorporated into so called “Christian Mysticism”, including primordial female and male deities, self creation from chaos, and the establishment of other “god-lings” who would help with the responsibilities of dominion over the civilizations of earth. There is undoubtedly a certain allure and mystery to the Gnostic teachings, as author Dan Brown can attest to with the sale of millions and millions of fictionalized books on the subject. Perhaps the only “pure” organized religion in history, it incorporates elements of alchemy, astrology, numerology, sacred geometry, and the reverence for nature centered on the allegorical message of the immortal Jesus Christ figure, allowing each person to have their own interpretation and symbolic reverence. There’s definitely something to be learned from the materials implied by this ancient mystery school, yet the true mystery seemingly remains ever veiled.

<!--[if gte mso 9]><xml>

WOO

if i start making a friends thank-you post now it's going to drag for years. but the feeling of being loved is beautiful. every single friend has brought a little love in my heart and i just wouldnt be the same if anyone goes missing! ahahhahaa yes, very mushy and cliche. but itsssssss damn true.

to the WHOAWHOAS, thanks for yesterday. we have made up our own phrases and our own inside jokes and even our own fun that many may not understand if they are with us. we could all be in a room together with nothing and still come up with something that would make us laugh. just as long as we are together, tomods tomods. we have gone even closer than close within the short period of months and even though all of us are different in many ways, there are things that only all of us have in common. BEST. WIN LEH. HAHAHAHAHA. PSYDUCK. MMMZAI! and camera lovin'. as long as we have the now, nothing else would matter. :) (germaine :) hang more with us okay! hahahaha!)

ADIOUSSSSS AMIGOOOOOOS.
Comic Con DC panel

<lj-cut text="DC comics panel talk">

I'm happy that Static will be on the Titans. Well, I think I am - I watched the cartoon, I didn't read the comic, so I'm not sure how Virgil acts in the comics. Wasn't he kind of homophobic? But can't they focus on the characters they already have? When you have a lot of canon messes, and are throwing plots lines around, the answer is not to bring in a whole new ream of characters to fuck up. Of course, it's not like I can read Teen Titans without throwing up anyway, so I guess it's kind of a moot point.

WINICK IS NOT WRITING GA ANYMORE. YESSSSS!

And whatever everyone, Jason would be an Awesome Batman. BECAUSE VIOLENCE SOLVES PROBLEMS.

Also, eww, Mary better not have lost her virginity to Ambush Bug, [that's not funny, leave Mary alone] and fucking shut up about Ted unless it's to tell me he's alive. [and fucking Booster.] I'm already sick of hearing about Barry.

I can't wait until all this fucking Morrison/Crisis/RIP crap is out of the way. I read the Invisibles a couple of days ago. It was really imaginative, but that's the only thing I can say about it. I really dislike his vision.

Greg Rucka was brought up to the dais, speaking on Final Crisis: Revelations, saying it'll have "Gotham City in the grips of evil like you'll never see it before," with a "lot of time spent in a church."

I like Rucka but fuck everything there. Oh, more evil than all the evil we've seen before huh? More evil than the sun eater, and Darkseid, and my mother? And I fucking hate when they hang out in churches in DC. THE SOURCE DOESN'T CARE ABOUT YOU. KNOCK IT OFF. Why can't they stop making stuff the MOST INSANE YOU'VE EVER SEEN, and just write something decent.

I still can't believe that Chuck Dixon was fired because he worked too hard. I'm happy to see Fabian on Robin, but I liked Dixon on the Outsiders. Anyone who makes fun of Green Arrow and makes me laugh gets points. I really need to just stick with my titles, and ignore the rest of the universe.

myuglyone: Blah blah blah GO TO BED

Urgh, I'm supposed to be asleep. Why is it that it's so damn easy to fall back into the late nights of an insomniac? I'd much rather be a morning person.

The past week, in a nutshell:

1) Took and barely passed -- but it still counts! -- my final driving test on Monday. So I now officially have my driver's license. Well, a piece of paper, of course; the license will arrive in 90 days. This has been a horrible, protracted experience spanning my entire adult life which has encompassed much anxiety and has even led to a mental breakdown and me nearly being kicked out of the house once. All over driving. Driving. The stupidest, most useless skill ever, and yet somehow it has been foundational for my self-worth and my worth in the eyes of my family. Driving! I tell you. It makes me furious, the pain I've gone through all over this stupid stupid skill that I just can't manage to master, be it the bad eye or genetics or fate or whatever. But now it's all over, I can't believe it, I'm still in shock. I don't care if I'm homeless on the street, I'm panhandling for the money to renew my driver's license, because I'm never ever going through this again. Ever.

2) Hmmm... Okay, so that's all I can think of for this week. C came home from Ireland, temporarily, but she knows that and I know that and no one really reads this journal who wouldn't know that, so it's not really all that exciting.

My biggest concern at the moment, besides my current over-indulgence in insomnia (Damn it, go to sleep! But do Claudia's meds first!), is the three water-filled pustules (i.e. vesicles) which have mysteriously appeared this afternoon on the inside of one wrist and symmetrically on the backs of both hands. They are strange and painful, and might pose a serious issue this week considering it's really a Bad Thing to pop them (so says Dr. Google), and I can't see wearing my wrist splints without popping them, and I agreed to work this week and I can't see working without wearing my splints. I can't even touch the bloody things without them hurting, somehow I doubt strapping them to a metal bar and applying pressure will be good. Damn skin! They're also really really gross. And cool. It's like I've got microscopic aliens setting up little biodomes on the hostile territory that is the back of my hands. Wasn't there a Futurama episode where an alien species set up a little society on Bender? And they're still getting bigger, ever so slightly.I'm just waiting for them to explode on their own... That would be so cool. And gross.

viadolorosa: Space Pirates invade Comic Con

Well this is the crew I traveled to Comic Con with: www.spacepiratesmovie. It's a lot of fun so far, and one of them is a complete and utter comic book geek. It's like hanging out with myself. I'm pretty fucking awesome! We even made a beeline for the same booths and panels. I had a new best friend within 11 hours.

Unfortunately being toted around by hot Space Pirates, we have to stop for photos every 2 seconds. The typical rule of 1 camera equals fifty totally applies. In that, if one person pulls out a camera to take a picture of a hot chic, 50 people crowd around to do the same. Good marketing I say.

I met Gigi Edgley from Farscape today, and she is lovely. Very nice also - didn't just push you through the autograph line.

Costumes are great. There have been a couple of fan fucking tastic Predator costumes. I took a picture of a Rorschach, also I spotted a couple as Nite Owl and Silk Spectre across a ballroom and ran across to get pictures of them and we went off to a less crowded part so they could do a "classic pose" for me. It was nice.

Merchandise is FUCKING AWESOME! I bought a mini bust of Denny Colt. Numbered 628 of 1000. I bought other things, but mostly just graphic novels at half price.

That's about it. We're about to make food happen.

My dad just freaked out on me and my mom because he found out we're going to church. It's funny; don't kids normally get in trouble for NOT going to church?

I came up to my mother this evening and asked if she still wanted to come with me tomorrow morning.

    "Where?" she said, bemused.
    "Church," my dad offered nonchalantly.
    I nodded.
"Oh, right," she said, "What time?"
    "Ten."
I walked off. A still silence washed over the den as I walked away before my father finally got it.
"What?!" he shouted incredulously. My mother shrugged unhelpfully. I think this will take him some time to get used to.

And work sucked. Peanuthead made me go out on to the floor and tell random people about specials and deals we had going on, which I didn't do very well on. I'm not good at talking to people. I talk out of nervousness ONLY. Death to Peanuthead.
