Name:
Jennifer Walkswithsilentfeet Matthews
Birthdate:
2 June 1974
Hi there. Most people call me Jen. Some of my friends know me as Walks With Silent Feet, Native American Goddess of Stealth, Reader of the List, and Turtle Goddess. My life right now, is about exploration and introspection. Life has thrown me some curve balls, and I've spent the last few years trying to figure out who I am and what it is that makes me truly happy.

I have tried many new things and met many new people. I've felt the sting of old friends walking out of my life, but there is also the joy of finding new friends and reconnecting with some old ones, some of whom have become very close and will be there with open arms when I need a hug or a shoulder to cry on. With the help of my friends I have gone back to embracing my repressed inner nerd/geek. It isn't that I ever hid her, she simply hasn't had the kindred spirits around or the opportunities to flex her puny muscles. She is now out in full force thanks to the many people in my life that share my interests and passions.

I have been hooked on new TV shows, gone to my first Sci-Fi conventions, gone back to table-top RPG's (role playing games, D&D for now), expanded my Cosplay from just the Ren Fest and Halloween to many other events as well. I volunteer my time in support of a local running company, working registration the morning of the races. I'm working on being more active. I'm not about to run any races myself, but I am walking more and eating better. There is no way I will give up meat, but I have embraced many vegetarian options as well. I have even branched out to internet broadcasting, as a cast member of The Travcast, a friend's Dementia Radio show. (www.demetiaradio.org Tuesdays at 8PM EST in case you are curious) This is where I am known by my alter ego, WWSF. She's the same os Jen, but freer to be completely open, honest and more adventurous.

I have been learning more about my Native American roots. I am 1/4 Ojibwe through my maternal grandfather, and a registered member of the Bad River Band of Chippewa Indians in Odanah, Wisconsin. I am trying to learn some of the language, and while I have picked up some words and phrases, I have a very long way to go. I also know some French, but I understand and read it, far better than I speak it. Earth Science has always fascinated me, and I am also interested in history and other (past and present) cultures.

I have a passion for the outdoors in the summer, as long as it isn't overly hot. I love to swim, hike, camp, canoe or just hang out at a picnic or other event. Art fairs are great to wander through. In the fall there is nothing I love more than getting fresh cider and donuts at the local cider mills. I don't mind the winter months, but I prefer to be warm and cozy indoors. The occasional sledding excursion is always fun.

I was born and raised in Southeast Michigan. I love it here, and haven't wandered that far from home. I'm the oldest of four kids, and Auntie Jen to three fabulous little girls. To my great disappointment, I was never able to have kids of my own, so my nieces fill that void in my life.

Anything you'd like to know? Feel free to ask. :)
