In Houston, there's a ton of folks who more or less agree with me, but for really stupid reasons. In Portland, most of the kids don't agree with me, and for really stupid reasons.

In either camp, I run into folks with Really Good Reasons (or at least thought-out reasons) from experience and/or advanced education, but their views always traverse traditional political party boundaries.

Don’t Patronize Me

Obama has not sold me on the war.

I find several things troubling with his speech. It feels hypocritical to announce that because of our budget we can’t commit past 18 months, but at the same time the mission there is vital to our security, if the latter was truly true why stop suddenly? Come home when we’re done, unless national security has nothing to do with the increase in troops.
