Hello!
Hello, I be new to this community.

I've loved Ferngully since I was much younger; I remember being petrified of Hexus in his sludge and fire form yet I would watch the movie over and over again anyway.

I've recently purchased a DVD of Ferngully which I re-watch frequently to add a little more magic to my day/week.

Favorite pairing in the movie will always be Crysta/Pips. OTP for the win.

Also, I'm not sure if this is against community rules or not (I didn't see anything about it) but I would like to say that I enjoy writing and post creative writing, poetry and stories to my journal often. I have a good few up right now and would be honored if some people from this community would read and review some of it for me. I plan to update and post new things quite often so you are always welcome to check back or message me about updates. Thank you!

And thank you again to wirsindaurelie for the beautiful icon. :)

A Portrait Of My FG Fan-Char Damon
I plan to have better pictures of him up soon, but here's your first glimpse of Damon The Black Fairy!

Yes, I used the word "fairy" for a boy sprite. If you must ask why, I do that because I've called the boys & the girls "fairies" since I first saw the movie at 5, since they never used the word "elf" & I assumed everyone was a fairy. XD I only just learned that Diana Young's novel had the girls called "fairies" & the boys called "elves", but after calling Pips / the Beetle Boys / etc. "fairies" for over 13 years, it's a very hard habit to get rid of. ^^;;

Though, admittedly, this isn't my best picture of Damon. He actually looks somewhat different than he does in the artwork below; he's missing wings & a little pebble necklace, among other things...I guess I wasn't paying too much attention while I was doodling this in Photoshop at 1:30 AM in the morning... -_-

Sequel Rant - Discuss!
Hey all! This is your friendly neighbourhood mod [using her other journal]. 8D Wow, over 60 members, this is fantastic. I do hope you're not all here to lurk, mind you.

SO HERE. Free rant space! There should be enough of us here to kick it off the ground so...

THE SEQUEL THAT MUST NOT BE NAMED. What you hated, what you loved if anything, how it could have been done better or how you would have liked to see the plot of a Ferngully sequel go.

DISCUSS. SPOILERS AHEAD.

This is my rant in the form of a short essay. Enjoy.

New to the Community
Hi All!

I'm new here, wasn't sure if I should introduce myself or not.

I love the Ferngully movie! I'm very glad that there's a community! I found it through Schreiend's deviantart page

I will be doing some fanart soon, and when I do I will post a link to it! If you would like to see my other artworks, my deviantart page is here

I recently watched the sequel to Ferngully, and it literally gave me a headache! At first I thought it wouldn't be so bad, because Crysta and Pips were there, but then it seemed to focus more on the circus girl and the caged animals instead of the rain forest and the fairies. I was hoping to see more character development between Crysta and Pips, it's a shame really. =(

I can't wait to read the book!

Anyways, nice to be here! I'll post later!

Evigilo -- A Ferngully Fan-Poem

Ta-da! A Ferngully fan-poem for all you fairy-lovers! ^_^

Now, what is the poem about, you ask? It's a little preview of an upcoming "Ferngully" fanfiction that I'm working on. I'm not gonna spoil anything for you, but I will say this: my character Damon is a "black fairy" (an agent of Hexxus--ironic, isn't it?) that has awakened in the Blue Grotto from a century-long sleep. He resurfaces to the land above & enters Ferngully. His life is then changed forever when he meets Crysta & sees the world of nature's beauty around him for the first time...beauty that he was supposed to destroy.

Hello, fellow forest-fairy-lovers!
*flies in & crashes into a wall, before sliding down onto the floor & jumping up onto her feet*

*dead-on Batty Koda impression*
A big howdy-do to all Ferngully fans!
I'm eager to come up & shake all your hands!
For I feel at home in this loverly land,
Surrounded by people...who are as fond of the movie as I am!

It's nice to meet you. I'm GMDlover around here, but you can call me The Mouse Avenger or Mousie or Anastasia or Annie...It doesn't matter, really. :)

All right, so last night, I discovered this community (did a bit of peeking round on Inkstain Agency's journal, tee-hee!) & joined. But this is the first day I've actually posted something! Hooray for me! ^_^

But...*clears throat* Anyway, let me start off by saying that Ferngully has been one of my favorite childhood films since I was around, oh, say...4 or 5. It has never ceased to impress me with its beautiful animation, ear-pleasing songs, colorful characters...& its environmental message. I'm a sucker for tree-hugging movies, go figure! XD But then again, it's always been a movie message that I particularly take to heart...

If you're interested to know, as far as my particular 'favorites' concerning the movie go, my fave characters include Crysta, Zak, & Batty Koda (Hexxus is an awesome villain, too; makes me wish he got more screen time). My favorite parts include the beginning scenes, the climax & ending scene, the "Batty Rap" sequence, the Blue Grotto scene, the scene with the Goanna, & the scene where everyone's grooving in the "Land Of 1,000 Dances"! ^_^ Oh, & my favorite songs include "A Dream Worth Keeping", "Batty Rap" (duh!), "Toxic Love" (Hexxus' singing voice is schmexy!), "Land Of 1,000 Dances", "If I'm Gonna Eat Somebody"...OK, they're all my favorite songs! XD

I own the original novel & a couple of tie-in books, as well as the Family Fun Edition of the DVD (which is fantastic!), though I hope to find more Ferngully goodies on eBay! ^_^ The sequel I haven't bought yet, but I plan to--yes, I like the sequel. Actually, I have an unusual tendency to like &/or love any & every animated or live-action sequel, remake, midquel, or original movie that stinks in the eyes of the world! I'm a crappy-film freak, & I love it! ^_^ But, anyway...

In conclusion, I've begun making fanart & writing fanfiction for Ferngully, as well (but I haven't finished any to upload online yet). I've started my ongoing line of Ferngully fanart with a series of crossover pictures--in which the characters of "Ferngully" & "A Clockwork Orange" are transported into each others' worlds! Oh, the hilarity that will ensue! XD I also plan on writing my first two Ferngully fanfiction stories soon, both of which feature my original character Damon The Black Fairy. Who is Damon, you're probably wondering? You'll find out... ;-)

And now, ladies & gentlefairies, my introduction...is finished! *bows grandly & then takes flight again, before crashing into the wall & sliding down to the floor* Well, not quite. ^^;;

Squeeeeeee!! I found a Fern Gully dvd in a charity shop of all places! Who would want to get rid of this film??

Hi all! Fern Gully is one of my most favourite animated films! I first saw it when I was about 7 (I borrowed the video off a friend and gave it back eventually a year later!) and now 15 years later I still love it!!

Hexxus is also one of my favourite animated villains. I adore his final demonic form! Its a shame he couldn't spend longer in it! :( (No I don't hate rainforests, I just love his design)

Does anyone have any Hexxus avatars they wish to share? I can't find any anywhere and I don't know how to make them such good quality

Hello.
Well, I suppose I'll go first.

Hello, it's nice to meet everyone. I've been in this community for a bit and have posted but I've never done an introduction.

I've enjoyed Furngully since I was a wee one; watched it with wide eyes from the crib and even now. I'll probably buy a DvD copy as well and save it for when I have kids. I'm a firm believer in the fact that the "children's movies" that come out nowadays are rather...pathetic. Dumbed down even. Movies like The Secret of Nimh and Ferngully seem to be a thing of the past. Now our kids are receiving sequels and crap meant only to entertain for one or two viewings instead of fill you with wonder like movies long ago did.

It makes me somewhat sad that Furngully wasn't more well known.

I hope to see this community grow!
