Pre-registration for JordanCon is now open. JordanCon is the first convention dedicated to exploring Robert Jordan’s The Wheel of Time series and his rich, literary legacy. It will be held April 17-19, 2009 at the Alpharetta Embassy Suites in Alpharetta, Georgia. Our Guest of Honor is Harriet MacDougal, Robert Jordan’s wife and editor. Our Fan Guest of Honor is Wilson Grooms, Jordan’s cousin and frequent contributor to his blog on Dragonmount.

Convention member is currently priced at $50.

hello there. I had a quick question. I am picking up the series again (at Crown of Swords) after not being able to get into it for a couple of months. I was wondering if there was a place with a good, detailed synopsis of each book so I could remember what is going on before I pick up the series again. Because as much as I'd love to I certainly don't have the time to start the series over again right now.

Any help would be appreciated, since I think I clearly forgot some vital plot details.

Trolling the internet at work, I stumbled across this profile of a Rand al'Thor costume.

Thrown together from a variety of store bought materials and a bit of ingenuity, I think the chap did a fine job of it. Of course this got me to wondering, did anyone else dress up this year as a WOT character? Or any previous years? I haven't seen any pictures posted lately, but it would be cool to see what ideas all of you out there have had in putting together your outfits. I haven't put one together myself, mostly because I can't decide what kind of character from the Wheel of Time I could pull off convincingly.

But if any of you have and are in a sharing mood, you should throw them up here for our admiration and consideration!

You know, maybe this isn't appropriate since the man just died, but I've been reading this series for over twelve years and I need to know!

What's going to happen with the final book?? I would have put the series down years ago because I felt the quality of the books was deteriorating except that I have to know what happens!

On September 16th, 2007 best selling fantasy author Robert Jordan passed away. Jordan struggled for several years with cardiac amylodosis, a rare blood disease that affects eight out of one million people. He will be missed by millions of fans around the world.

In honor of his remarkable achievements and the significant impact he had on his fans, Age of Legends is sponsoring an International Wake. The wake will take place on or around Oct. 17th, 2007, which would have been his fifty ninth birthday.

This is an incredibly opportunity to meet Wheel of Time fans in your area and share your experiences reading the books and seeing Jordan at his many book signings and convention appearances. Our dedicated volunteers are working to rapidly assemble unique events around the globe.

The following wakes have been confirmed, with more to come. Some details are not confirmed yet, so check our website for updates.

Ok, so I am brand new to WoT. I know, what a time to get in on the series, I was very sad to hear the tragic news of September 16th.

However, I now have the series (1-11) and the prequel A New Spring.

I'm posting here to get an opinion of where I should start, the prequel or Eye of the World?

I apologize if this has been posted before, I was loathe to read the old posts for fear of spoilers. After all I can hardly expect them to be behind a cut this long after the series has been out. Thanks in advance.

On the Dragonmount temp boards (since you can't actually get to dragonmount from the flood of grieving fans) there is an upstart organization of sorts for an International Wake for RJ. Would anybody be interested in doing this in Dallas? They're proposing Oct 13, 2007 which would have been his birthday, but I won't be here. I'll be at a wedding. So I wouldn't even be able to go to the one in Shreveport if one even happens there. If we could do an alternate date, I'd be happy to start organizing it. Or talking to others who want to organize. Talk to me folks!

ETA: October 20th has been put forth as an alternate date. This is the same day as the Star Wars Fan Day in Dallas. What do you all think of planning something after the Fan Day closes? That way we don't interfere with the Fan Day and a lot of people will already be in town.
