    "Meet Joe Biden"
OK, so when I heard the parody would be of "Whatever you LIke", I looked up the song, because I had never heard it.  It seems to be a good song to make a parody of, and I'm looking forward to it.

The line of the song that says:

"I want your body, need your body "

    I thought he was saying

"I want Joe Biden, meet Joe Biden" because he slightly slurs his speech there.

If you want to listen to it, its at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQJACVmankY and you can forward to 3:39.  He also says it in the first verse of the song, but its not as slurred there.

    O well.

    [Update]
heh, I guess I should also plug my Weird Al blog which is creatively titled 'Yank Blog':
The LJ sydincated feed for that is: [info]yankdotorg
There's three authors:  me, Dave 'Elvis' Rossi, and Marty 'Torsoboy' Lick.  We try to keep people updated on what's new with Al.  ( But mostly it's just me saying "hey, weirdal.com has just been updated!" or something like that )

So...Weird Al has been talking digital distribution for his new songs. To get them out to the public so they're still hot and fresh and topical.

Well, that was last month. Here's today's blog from his MySpace page:

    ------------

    NEW SINGLE!

Remember when I said I was going to start releasing tracks to iTunes as soon as I finished recording them? Well, I'm in the studio this very moment – and the first track released from my next album will be available on iTunes a week from today (October 7)!

This is extremely exciting for me. One of the hardest things I've had to deal with in my career is keeping my material topical even though I only release albums every 3 or 4 years. Now, with the advent and popularity of digital distribution, I don't have to wait around while my songs get old and dated – I can get them out on the Internet almost immediately. It kind of boggles my mind – I thought of the idea for this new song a week ago, and next week it's getting released!

I'm only supposed to "tease" this release right now – I'll post more info about it in a couple days. But I will say that it's a parody of a song that very recently was (or perhaps still is) the number one song in the country. That would be another first for me – I don't think I've ever released a parody of a song while the original song was still number one!

iTunes will have an exclusive on this song for two weeks, after which I guess it will be available wherever else digital downloads are sold. But I'm really kind of hoping this sucker will chart, so if you can, please buy it the first week it's out!

If this release goes well, there will be more to come. Thanks in advance for your support!

    Al

Who Does Al Totally look like?

Hi!  I never really post here, but I do lurk!  lol  My little brother sent me this picture today, and I just had to share it here.

The link to the original site and pic is here.

Oh... didn't they spell Al's name wrong, or am I having a blonde moment?

    S.O.L. Tour Wraps Up
I thought I'd pass this along for those of you who don't have Al friended on MySpace:

Well, I'm finally back home – the Straight Outta Lynwood Tour is officially over. We traveled over 100,000 miles and did 166 shows in the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Wow, what a great time. Huge thanks go out to the band, the crew, the drivers, the promoters, the cheerleaders, the members of the 501st Legion - and most importantly all the wonderful fans who came out to see us. I don't know when we'll be touring again, but I'm afraid it won't be any time soon. And I promise the next time we play live, it will be with a substantially different show.

So what will I be doing now that I'm not living in a bus? Well, first and foremost I'll be enjoying some quality time with my family – but I've also got some interesting projects on my plate. Some deals are still being hammered out, so I can't really discuss them… but I can briefly talk about "Al's Brain." That's the name of the short (9 or 10 minutes) 3-D movie which I'll be shooting in November. I wrote it and I'll be directing and starring in it as well. It's an educational (but hopefully also funny and entertaining) film about the workings of the human brain. It will make its debut in July 2009 at the Orange County Fair in Costa Mesa, California, and ideally it will travel to various science centers and similar venues at some point after that. This is a very exciting project for me – I'm working with the top 3-D and CGI people in the business.

Of course, as promised, I'll also start writing my next album very soon. I think this time I'm going to try something different – instead of waiting for the whole album to be done before I release it, I'm going to start putting out a track at a time on iTunes – pretty much as soon as I'm done recording each one. That way you won't have to wait so long to hear new material, and my songs hopefully won't ever feel too "dated." Anyway, let's see if that works – I'll obviously let you know when I start making any new songs available.

And I just finished going through a bunch of tour pictures with Bermuda - so if you weren't able to make it out to any of our shows, you'll be able to see a small sample of what you missed in the photo gallery at weirdal.com any day now.

Thanks again for making the Straight Outta Lynwood Tour our most successful tour ever! Looking forward to the next one!

    Al

    I love the idea of him putting out new material as soon as it's ready... I guess I'll just have to get iTunes {shrug}

    WEIRD AL CHARITY AUCTION
Starting tomorrow, MOnday August 25th, my charity project will be auctioning off an 8x10 glossy photo of Weird Al Yankovic, as well as an autographed index card.

My charity project is called Comfort Doll Project. I'm based out of Vancouver Canada. What i do is take photos of bands/musicians holding a Comfort Doll, then auction photo and card and send the proceeds to either World Vision or Icross Canada.

A Comfort Doll is a small knitted doll that Icross uses instead of packing peanuts when they send shipments of HIV meds over to African clinics. Once the meds are unpacked, the dolls are given to the local children, many of whom are HIV positive and/or AIDs orphans.

THE AUCTION: proceeds to World Vision.
Starts Monday August 25th in the afternoon and runs 3 DAYS ONLY.
To find the auction, go to eBay and search: Weird Al Yankovic Comfort Doll and there you'll be.

if you want more info on my charity project as well as pics and auction results etc, you can go to: http://www.myspace.com/comfortdollproject

GOOD LUCK BIDDING - FEEL FREE TO SPREAD IT AROUND YOUR OTHER WEIRD AL FRIENDS AND THANKS MUCH.

At least we've still got Teri..................WHAT TIME IS IT?!
Is it me, or is Al seriously the last remaining NORMAL UHF cast member these days?!

First, Trinidad Silva died. Then Stanley Brock died. Then Billy Barty died. Then, slowly but surely, the rest of the cast turned into complete dingbat wackaloons. Fran Drescher became a notorious tyrant on-set. David Bowe inspired the "box of porn" scene in The 40-Year-Old Virgin. Michael Richards showered the world with a few choice words on stage. And NOW...

Look, I'm not here to darken your weekend or disillusion you in any way. So if you have ANY respect for Victoria Jackson whatsoever, and don't want it to be completely shattered, DON'T CLICK HERE!

If Kevin McCarthy dies and Gedde Watanabe starts complaining about UFOs, I'm seriously gonna move in with Anthony Geary just to make sure he doesn't derail a train full of orphans.

    eh?
Hey, I've got these shirts from the Running With Scissors Tour. Anyone want 'em? I've gotta cut down my wardrobe due to an upcoming move, and hopefully raise some extra funds for the move to Chicago.

    take a look? )

And if you wanna see more stuff I have, then check out this post in my journal.

Send me an offer - meaning DO NOT ASK ME HOW MUCH I WANT FOR THE ITEM - and include about $6 within the offer for priority mail within the US for up to two shirts. More than that, and I will get a more accurate rate for you.

    Thanks for tolerating me. :)

    Weird Al Concert.
On Saturday evening I got a great opportunity to shoot/go to a "Weird Al" Yankovic and let me tell you, it was an experience! Al knows how to entertain.

    title or description

Having been a fan since I was a teenager and enjoying his videos and such, I took a press pass from work (at a newspaper where I'm the staff photographer) and shot the concert at this great classic theatre in town.

    title or description

The entire show was one huge production with crazy lights, confetti, costumes and fun music. Watching Al sing (and singing along in the crowd) to classics like "Eat It," "Smells Like Nirvana" and "Amish Paradise" was just pure awesomeness. When Al put on the "Fat" suit and jumped on stage and people jumped in their seats, it was awesome and the show ended with a bang.
