I know this should be answered by a doctor, but I'm embaressed and don't want to talk to my mother haha :]
If it is a yeast infection, I'll start my period really soon, should that make it go away? How does my boyfriend get rid of it without going to a doctor?
If it's not...what is wrong with me? haha :]
Sorry if its major confusing and thought scrabbled.

Funny stuff...
Funniest thing said or heard during sex, anyone?

I am bisexual I heard a girl say "Oh my god I LOVE Banannas!" apparently when we were messing around she randomly thought of sex toys, then other non-sexual sex toys and then how delicious banannas are.

From a male: It wasn't exactly funny (it was to me) and we didn't end up sleeping together but he said "You should tone it down on the shit-talk". I'm kind of sarcastic, and I'm use to being around friends/lovers who are the same.

Aaaand, go!

HPV, WARTS, YEAST INFECTION
Hi ladies,
I am new here and I hope someone can help me with a question.  I was diagnosed with HPV 3 years ago. I have never had warts with this. I am still with the same partner and do not have any other STDS (was just tested at an annual exam). I do however currently have a yeast infection that I am treating with Monistat. Tonight I noticed what appears to be a tiny set of 2 "bumps" on my vulva. I am terrified it's warts. I am under severe stress at the time and was wondering... could these be stressed induced like yeast infections can? It seems to me that if it was from the HPV I would have gotten warts ages ago. The spots do not itch or burn if it matters. Thanks for the help!

I need to start my period within the next week
I'm not sexually active or anything, so I know I'm not pregnant, but it isn't starting. I stopped ovulating over a week ago. A day or two after that, I spotted for a full day, and nothing has happened since then. I started even getting mild cramps yesterday, but still no period.

What are some household methods I can use to make my period start?

Also, I'm on a medication that can mess up your cycle, but I've been on it since February and it hasn't done this to me before. So, if I want to start my period now would it be stupid to go off it right now, would it screw up my already screwed up cycle even further? Or do you think it would set it straight? I need to go off this medication within the next few weeks anyway, so it would just be sooner. I know I should ask a doctor, yada yada, but what is YOUR opinion? Would this be smart or stupid?

phisohex to use on vulva
I posted yesterday about my issues regarding cysts appearing on my vulva area. My doctor drained my cysts and gave me antibiotics but also prescribed Phisohex. Its some type of soap that she wants me to use to wash the vulva area daily with. I have enough prescribed to last me a year. She said it will help my skin down there.

I was looking it up online, I cant find many people giving it reviews for this use. So I was wonder if any of you ladies have ever used this product? If so how has it worked for you?

Edit: My bad. I should not have just implied "ladies"shouldve been more gender inclusive to other individuals.

Slightly freaking out, and just plain anxious!
Alright, so I had my Implanon removed June 25th. I haven't been on any HBC since then, relying on condoms alone. I'm now on day 30 of my cycle (or what I believe to be a cycle) as when my Implanon was removed I'm almost certain I had a real period. It was more crampy than ever, heavier than my Implanon bleeding, and truly reminded me of what my periods were like off any hormones. I ordered a Paragard IUD, and it's sitting at my doctor's office, but I need to be on my period to have it inserted. See why I'm both freaking out and anxious!? Yeesh. Any idea how different coming off of Implanon is from normal HBC pills? Is this normal for my period to be late? I've taken two tests, both negative, although the first one was taken far too early (I wasn't sure how irregular I was going to be). My most recent one was taken two days ago. Should I go get another test? I'm debating trying the parsley tea, but I'm worried how it would effect things if I *were* pregnant. Graaagh. I don't think I've ever had so many reasons to *want* my period. -___-

Pain Questions.
Hi, ladies! I'm new to the community. I've seen it around for ages and finally decided to join, and I'm already in love. I have a question that's probably been asked before, and if so, I apologize. Hopefully I'm doing all of this correctly.

I've been on BC for about two years, now. I was put on it when I was around 22 to help cope with the unbelievable cramps I used to have before and during my periods. It worked, and my periods are delightfully regular and light, coming like clockwork every month. However, I've noticed over the past six months or so that I have a lot of what feels like menstrual pain during the month when I'm nowhere near starting my period. It's usually very sharp and can range from mild to momentarily severe. Last night as I was walking back to my bedroom I actually stopped and almost doubled over a bit because the pain was so sharp.

These pains usually only last for a few seconds, and they might occur twice to three times in a day. Some days they don't occur at all. I know when I first started taking the pill, I had weird menstrual pain for the first month or two while my body was acclimating to the hormones, but after that it stopped. Now, all of a sudden, I'm having menstrual pains when I shouldn't be and it concerns me. My mother had a hysterectomy when she was in her early forties, and I want to say that it was due to pretty severe endometriosis, but I can never actually remember what her condition was. I do remember her explaining it to me as her uterus being heavy to do thickening (or something?) and causing her pain, as well as causing her to urinate frequently because it was pressing on her bladder. I know endometriosis pain can be caused by cysts rupturing, etc. So basically I'm asking - do you guys think that the menstrual pain could be some weird side effect of my birth control? Or do you think it's possible that something else could be wrong?

The problem is that, currently, I have no insurance so I can't afford to see my GYNO about it. However, I have an appointment scheduled with her in November (I should have insurance by then, plz god). Thanks for any and all input, ladies!

*waves*
Hi, I'm new to the community in terms of joining, but I've been watching this place on and off from time to time, and it looks like you can get some good responses. So Hi. I need some help.

5 days ago, I've stopped taking antibiotics for a UTI. When I was done, I noticed I started itching really bad. It turns out I got a yeast infection. I've cut my sugary foods, took apple cider vinegar baths mixed with tea tree oil twice a day until this morning. The swelling has gone down and most of the itchiness and redness.

For three nights, I started the overnight yogurt trick. I stopped everything this morning because I thought I was done. But later in the day, my vulva is starting to get irritated with me. I thought it was the vinegar and tree oil from last night. So I gone back to using hydrocrotizal cream. I also ate a massive garlic clove. Compared to last Monday, the itchiness wasn't as bad. Now it's just annoying! It almost tickles but it does give off an irritated burn there when touched.

The gyno just gave my mom some cream to try, and mom really thinks I have a yeast infection. Since I'm really sensitive, and have virtually no money, I refuse to buy Monistat. The herbal treatments I'm trying are doing nicely minus this slight burn. But, my goodness, it's been two weeks since my SO and I had any kind of sex and frankly, I'm getting impatient! haha

It's been about 5 days. I know vinegar is contradictory to treatment (to prevent only prevent?), but it did help my swelling and itchiness. *sniff* When will it go away? :(

Thanks so much, ladies.

stabbing pain.
hello,

couple of times today i've gotten stabbing pains in the location of my ovaries (briefly earlier and now its been happening for about ten mins).i was told last year i have cysts(pcos was mentioned) but haven't had  any pains before that there  like this and by googling just now its says that this could be a cyst rupturing, is this serious and something i should be worried about? i am also due to start my period this sunday, would that be anything to do with it? i wouldn't describe it as very painful, its more of dull stabbing pain, which obviously doesn't feel great.

thanks.

For poor girls like me, who want/need birth control:
I get my birth control from a Planned Parenthood clinic TOTALLY FREE.

I don't know how many women know you can do that, but uuuuh its totally worth it.
Depending on how much you earn, you may have to pay a little bit, but I'm a college student, and I only work part time, so I never have to pay anything, though I always give them a donation.

They let you choose which kind of b/c you want to go on (pills, patch, ring, etc) and they'll give you like three months worth of it. The only thing they require of you, is to have a gyno check-up with them every six months or so, and even THAT'S free.

I love you PP!

Cold Sores vs. Genital Herpes?
Okay, I feel really silly for asking this. :X

I just recently got over my first batch of cold sores ever (I'm 19). I've been poking around the memories and *think* I read that even if the other person doesn't have cold sores but has the virus in their system, that the virus can still be transmitted. Is that correct? Because that would explain how I got my cold sores - my current boyfriend gets them, but doesn't have them currently.

Now, if someone had cold sores on their mouth and then performed oral sex on their significant other, would that still be HSV-1 and just be cold sores on your nether regions? Or would that become HSV-2 and become genital herpes?

Basically, what is the difference between genital herpes and cold sores?

Also, do I have the virus in me now permanantly - HSV-1? Am I capable of passing it on?

Thanks in advance. :)

Irregular period?
I'm a little confused and hoped some one may be able to help me.

My periods are usually pretty regular. Mine started on the 7th and was pretty much cleared up by the 11th. On Tuesday I noticed slightly brown discharge which didn't bother me too much, as if things do show up I generally give it a day or 2 to see if it sorts itself out. Anway as the days went on I had small brown clumps in my discharge, which I'm guessing where parts of my uterine lining? Which again I didn't worry about too much as I know that sometimes the uterus does shed it's lining. Then today a few hours ago I noticed some blood after going to the toilet and now I've had to use a pad as I seem to be bleeding. Basically I'm not sure whats up. Surely I can't have another period so soon?

I'm not on any birthcontrol or anything like that.

Commando???
I'm sorry if this or something similar has been asked already, I looked through but didn't find it.

I've recently discovered (don't know why it took me so long, LOL) that going without undies is not only liberating, but much more comfy! No more thongs, hipsters, or anything else that rides up or leaves a line. Yay!

My question is this: Is it safe/hygienic for my vag to not wear underwear?? I usually wear jeans. Am I going to be more prone to infections and such?

Sorry if this is a dumb question.

Bad sex life?
Here's the deal:

Lately my boyfriend and I have not been having sex as much as I would like. I don't even consider myself above the norm, as a female, in her sexual drive... so the fact of the matter is, we're two young people and we don't have sex (as in intercourse) very much.

I only see him maybe 4 times a week, max, and we have sex maybe 1-2 times max, and lately, not even at all. I think the last time we had sex was over a week ago.
We've only been dating a couple of months, and when we first started dating, he seemed a lot more interested in touching me and starting sexual encounters, but not as much anymore.

The only thing he really blamed it on was stress. I guess he's sort of blaming me because I do tend to nag him about stuff, and he says he feels he has to get defensive against me, and that he disappoints me or doesn't "do things right". :/ I feel bad for being obnoxious about stuff sometimes, but he's already 25, and I'm 21, and he needs to get his act together.

Oh also, sidenote: He told me at the beginning of our relationship that he has low testosterone for a guy. Like he's had it checked out and everything... but that doesn't really change the fact that we had more sex a month ago than we do now.

*EDIT TO ADDRESS COMMENTS*
You guys have given me a WHOLE lot to think about.

In regards to my statement about him needing to get his act together: its nothing serious, as someone was asking about. It IS more a matter of where he is in his life right now-- still hasn't finished college, working a crappy, low-end job, not physically active, unhealthy habits (food and drinking and smoking). I am not perfect in these regards by any means. I drink, too, and I don't always eat healthy, but he has stated to me that he IS unhappy with all of these things... yet he doesn't seem to do much to change his situation. His apartment is a total mess, its kinda gross actually, but he never cleans it! He has had depression before, and has some pretty OCD tendencies, so I think its just a vicious cycle he puts himself in.

The things that make him sad about his life are the things I "nag" him about changing. I really don't want to offend him any more on these fronts, and (even though it sounds totally cliche) I nag him because I care about him. I WANT him to get past these road blocks in his life, I want him to finish school and get a better job and clean his apartment etc etc. But I do understand its starting to become this sort of "parent-child" dynamic as someone mentioned, and that is very unsexy (to most anyway. hah)

Also: our relationship wasn't and isn't (obviously) being held together by sex. I genuinely really like (even love) the guy! He's smart, funny, and a really nice person. We go out together or stay in together sometimes... its just that I often feel unwanted by him for his lack of interest in sex, and also since he's so used to having his "me time" because I'm his FIRST girlfriend. So he doesn't want to be around me all the time, whereas I'm very used to spending a LOT of time with boyfriends.

Sex and UTI's?
So I just ended my period like two days ago. So for a week me and my boyfriend obviously didn't have sex. Wednesday night was the first night we did since I ended my period. It felt good in the beginning but then all of a sudden it started feeling really irritated and got extremely uncomfortable so we stopped. Then last night we did again and it felt good and then started to feel really uncomfortable so we stopped again. I don't know if it was because I haven't had sex in a week but it doesn't do that the other times when I just end my period. This morning I woke up and it now feels slightly like how it does when I have a UTI. Only slightly. So idk if I'm just having this feeling because it was uncomfortable while having sex last night or what. I'm going to drink a glass of water and hope the feeling goes away. I can not have another UTI my mom would know for sure I'm having sex since I just had two of them a few months ago. Anyways, so I guess I have two questions. One about the sex being uncomfortable two days in a row, and then why I have this UTI feeling slightly. Now as we speak it's starting to feel better, but yeah I would still like some advice on this. Thank you!

tea tree oil for warts
Can anyone tell me what they know about using tea tree oil to treat genital warts?

I found a few websites about it before but I can't seem to find them anymore. I read that applying tea tree oil to the warts is a great home remedy to get them to shrink... how often should I do this? Is it okay to dab the tea tree oil on the warts, even if they're a little bit inside my vagina? How long do I leave the tea tree oil on.. overnight? Do I need to dilute it?

I keep finding random or differing answers so if anyone has any advice I would greatly appreciate it!

How to find a couples sex therapist
My partner and I have been having some issues, probably related to abuse that each of us has suffered in the past.  We each have our own personal therapists, whom we are happy with, but neither is comfortable seeing one half of a couple AND the couple (which makes sense to me, and I respect that). We did get a recommendation for a couples therapist from one of ours, not someone she knew personally, or whom she had worked with. We've been seeing him for a couple of month but have become increasingly unhappy with him. Ideally, we would like to find someone who would be amenable to giving us specific exercises etc that might allow us to work toward a more fulfilling sex life.

If anyone knows of a good therapist in the Boston area (Red Line accessible would be a plus), that would be fantastic. Barring that, any advice on how to go about finding a therapist would be greatly appreciated.

Pressure in uretha? UTI?
Hey Ladies,

I had an appointment with PP about two weeks ago to have my annual done because my gyno couldn't fit me in for months. At that time, I was experiencing a weird pressure in what I think is my urethra, just behind my clitoris. It was there almost all the time and I was having urgency and a higher frequency of peeing. They took a urine sample, because I thought maybe I'm having a UTI, and gave me sulfa for three days. At the end of the three days, it felt better, but wasn't completely gone. I went to urgent care then (I don't have a primary) and they looked at my urine and found white blood cells, so they gave me cipro for five days. It went away for a few days, but then when the antibiotics were done, it came back. So then the doctor at urgent care put me on seven days of macrobid. I'm currently on my second day.

I was wondering if any of you guys have experienced UTIs with the pressure/strange feeling in the urethra. It's there almost all the time and it's really uncomfortable. I've had lots of UTIs but never quite like this. I had my period during this and tampons didn't hurt so I don't think its any problems with my vagina, but I'm just curious. The obsessive person in me is coming up with worst case scenarios. Haha.

confusion about delaying periods
 Hi!

I am going on holiday in eight days, and am worried that I might have my period whilst away, and that is something I really would rather not have to deal with.

So, I went to the Doctor, and he prescribed me with Norethisterone tablets, and said to take one, three times a day, which is fine. Going by my guess work (I'm pretty sure I was ovulating a couple of days ago, so) my period should start in about 14 days time from then, which will be the monday of my holiday (I fly on the saturday) I asked the doctor when to start taking the tablets and he said that I should start taking them on the plane, unless I come on before hand and then if I start taking them straight away then it will stop the bleeding.

I'm a bit unsure of this, the leaflet that came with the pills said to start taking it three days beforehand and does not mention it stopping a period that has already started, so i'm not sure which advice to follow.

I was wondering if anybody here has been prescribed this for the same reason, or has heard anything about it stopping a period that has already started?

Also, I have recently come off of the pill, so i'm not sure if I will be getting my period when I am predicting and am worried that if I take this when I don't need to, it could cause some problems?

Thanks in advance :)

Period re-starting or spotting?
Hi all, I just need some opinions on this. My period started last Thursday late at night. It ended on Sunday, which was a little shorter than normal for me. So all of a sudden today (8 days after my period began) I noticed some bright red but watery blood on the toilet paper after going pee. It never got heavy enough to even require a panty liner and it was very light.

Is this just random mid-cycle spotting or is it some kind of continuation of my period? Usually when my period is tapering off the blood turns more brownish and this is brighter, but as I said - it's only visible when wiping and its very minor. For whatever it's worth, I have a history of very irregular periods and ovarian cysts, and I feel like I may have a cyst right now. Could this be normal or is it anything to worry about?

Odour issues (first post, I cannot believe I'm typing this).
Okay, so for the last few years, only off for short periods of time, I've had vag odours that I cannot stand;  I don't stand too close to people sometimes for fear that they might smell something weird and figure it out. My discharge seems normal, and I'm on Diane 35 for my skin; I'm not sexually active. I've only had my doctor look down there once because I thought I had a sore (I didn't) and he didn't think anything was abnormal.

I'm still too shy to describe it (I will if you ask - erk) but do any of you have a vag odour you dislike? I really don't think I have a yeast infection, but maybe you guys have better insight. Do you know of any way to minimize vag odour?

I'm Ok, You're OK
Yep, so I had those dozens of expensive tests and freaked out for the past 2 weeks, and it turns out I'm healthy as a horse.

Trans-vaginal ultrasound showed that I have a benign polyp on my uterus, which is a fairly normal for a woman my age (40). I spoke to my GP and he says that it might be part of the cause for my stomach problems (pressure of the polyp on my tummy and other internal organs.) The nurse practitioner at the OB-GYN said that if I have continued pain, I can have it removed in a one day surgery either in the clinic office or in a hospital.

I can live with the discomfort I've been having, so I'm forgoing the surgery and instead opting to exercise, eat healthy, and continue to monitor my lady parts.

I am soooo relieved.

Thanks to all for your support. I really appreciate all the feedback and input.

lotion on your vulva?
hello all, long time lurker, first time poster. this community is fabulous; i love getting in touch with my own body and not feeling ashamed about doing so and that would have never happened without this site!

i have a quick question..i noticed while doing some 'sploring down there that my vulva is insanely dry. not around my vaginal opening, but more the inside of my labia majora. it feels really smooth to the touch and i noticed that it's so dry that the skin has cracked in two places. these cracks burn badly if urine happens to touch it the right way, or if i'm in the shower and the water hits it in the right way. i've always been on the dryer side, self lubrication wise, but i'm not sexually active and don't really see that as a problem just yet. i'm curious as to whether or not i could use a small amount of lotion on my vulva just to get SOME moisture down there, or if i run the risk of getting an infection from certain types of lotion near/in my vagina. (note, i don't plan on pumping my vag full of bath and body works, i'm just talking about the folds and creases and areas of skin around the opening.)

does anyone else have this sahara-desert syndrome? any way for me to fix it?

TIA!

Effectiveness of birth control? And what is this pain?
So there's really no way of knowing whether your birth control is working unless you do or don't get pregnant, right?

Here's my deal. Every so often I get a pain in my right side, around ovary area. We're talking intense pain, nausea and barfing. It's not my appendix, though (obviously, or I'd be long-dead by now). The first time it ever happened was a loooong time ago, actually before I even started my period. The second time was several years ago; it was early in my period and started as cramps, then became bad cramps, then a pain so bad that I was throwing up and would've been doubled over had that not hurt MORE. I took several ibuprofen and it didn't help, so later I took a couple more and finally the pain subsided and went away.

Today again I had that pain (it's the second day of my period and I did have cramps this morning but they went away before I went to work), although it didn't get really bad or the point of throwing up, and shortly after downing three ibuprofen I could feel it subsiding and now I'm not even sore.

The last time it happened I assumed I'd had an ovarian cyst that burst--not long before that I'd had trouble with a cyst. And thought that maybe that was the explanation when I was younger, too--sure it was before my first period, but maybe I was already ovulating then and just didn't have a period because things were wonky (I can't remember how soon before my period it was but I do remember that when I first had my period, before it actually started I had cramps and I was afraid it was that again, so they must've been somewhat close together).

And of course today that is not a plausible explanation, because I'm on the pill, so I shouldn't be ovulating. SHOULDN'T BE being the key word! When the pain subsided it sure felt like what I've always thought was mittelschmerz, though, and in the past I've thought I've felt mittelschmerz as well (it's always been on the right side, never the left). And, again, I'm on the pill--I should NOT be ovulating (and on the off chance that I am, I'm now sorta afraid to have sex, obviously).

So now I'm confused. Either this pain, and what I always assumed to be a small ovulation twinge, have not been what I've thought they've been (and I can't think of anything else they could be), or my birth control is not working.

Any ideas? I know this is a lot of questions in one post, sorry. I'm just really stumped right now. I plan on asking my doctor about it when I see her again next month, but in the meantime...

High vaginal pH after giving birth
I gave birth to my baby girl in April and haven't had any problems so far. Lochia were gone after six weeks, involution of the uterus and everything went well. It was a real exciting and empowering experience, just for the record. :) Anyway, I have some of those gloves for pH home testing left from the pregnancy and just used one because I noticed I don't smell like I used to down there. It came back dark green, so the pH is above 5 when it should be around 4. Discharge is as usual, also there's no itching or anything, so I guess it's not an infection. So the question to you: is this normal three months after giving birth? Should I be watching this or even see my gynecologist? What can I do to restore the pH to its normal value? Thanks a lot in advance!
