    comm textbooks
I took COMM 180 in the spring, and plan on taking COMM 201 and 202 this year. I was wondering if the COMM 180 textbook would be remotely useful for these classes or if I would be better off selling it to someone... is there any need to save the textbook? Any input would be appreciated! Thanks!!

    on-grounds work

I'm a rising 2nd year, looking for a non-work-study job this fall.  I was thinking about applying for library work, but I'm exploring other options as well.  Anyone who's ever worked on-grounds (or knows someone who did/does), which jobs do you recommend?  Which should I avoid?
    Thanks for any help. :)

    internships
so i am a rising 3rd year transfer to the university. its about time i started looking out for internship experiences. i just wanted to ask what is the internship scene like at uva? are there plentiful opportunities for us as uva students to gain real work experience or does the village-likeness of cville hinder the possibility of interesting internship opportunities. any input would be really valuable.:)

    transferring into mcintire?
Hey all- I'm a rising sophomore interested in transferring to McIntire next year (I'm just getting ahead on the research bandwagon). I'm not from Virginia nor am I already in UVA so I was just wondering how cut-throat it is to get in there (considering it's #2 on the B-school lists) and any advice any of you could give me. Thanks so much!

    CARS EMT-B Class

Has anyone here taken the CARS EMT-B class?  I'm considering it this Fall but I wanted some thought on how tough/scary the class and the subsequent 2-year commitment are.

    Thanks!

So I have been assigned 832 Copely. I read here that it is very far and secluded. I really want to live on campus tho, so at least it wasn't gooch&dillard?

Also, as a transfer student, I wonder if any here can provide some input. I have just one class I need to take over the summer at NOVA to get my Associates. With that I'll be a third year at UVA. Is there any sense in not getting an A.S at this point? If I don't will I be classified as a Second Year?

    pros/cons?

    please and thank you!

    Ear Piercing Places?
Does anyone know a good place to get an ear piercing where they actually remove a core of the ear rather than just puncture?  My ears have been pierced for well over a year but my left one can close itself in 12-14 hours if I leave an earring out.

    Learn about Dracula Friday
At the Jefferson Society meeting at 7:30 pm this Friday, I will be giving a lecture on the history of Vlad the Impaler and how he became Dracula, and also some stuff on funnel cake, the near-lethal conditions on the Romanian road system, the fact that Bela Lugosi's son became a corporate lawyer in LA, and some very friendly people I've met who actually drink human blood.  My book is "Sundays with Vlad" and you can find it at www.vladlives.com.  I'm a former Wahoo, and I can't wait to come back!

    German House applications!
FYI, the German House is taking applications for the 2008-2009 school year until November 15, and a lot of spots are opening up, so if you apply, you've got a good chance of getting in. You don't need to be a German major/minor, or even be taking any German classes; you just need an intermediate knowledge of the German language and an interest in the culture. We host Oktoberfest and Fasching (Karneval) parties, bimonthly movie nights, and eat home-cooked "house dinners" four nights a week. It's really a lot of fun, and a great way to improve your language skills.

If you're interested in applying, visit http://www.germanhouse.org.

Anyone have any recommendations on classes which fulfill the 2nd writing requirement? It seems like most of them are either USEMS, restricted to a particular major, or have horrible ratings on ratemyprofessor. :o

Anyone here like the band Rilo Kiley?

I'm selling a ticket to their soldout Sept 26 (Wed) show at the 9:30 Club in Washington, DC. I'd like to sell it for what I paid for it ($25 + $6 service charge), though I'm open to other offers. Let me know if you're interested. Thanks!

    PHYS 201 problem sessions
Is there anyone out there that's completed PHYS 201 that can tell me what the problem session are all about? Is it a group work thing, an actual discussion, is it solely for the quiz, or what? I'm not really sure what I should be prepared for, so any input would be awesome. Thanks!

    Textbook Questions
    Hello,
I'm an incoming second year transfer student and I was looking at the UVa Bookstore's textbook list for this semester and could not find the texts for PLAP 101 and SPAN 202. Also, PLAP 101 and SPAN 202 aren't even on the list. I have Ceaser for political science and Gingerich for Spanish. What's the deal and does anyone know what texts I'll be needing?  Thank you!
