| New Community: Goth City Maps |
[13 May 2008|03:41pm] |
Hey all, Just wanted to let you know about a new community gothcitymaps which aims to get people all over the world to create Google maps of their cities to serve as a valuable resource to any dark alternative types who visit those cities. Currently we're looking for as many submitters as we can get (obviously one for every city on Earth :P). We are also going to be hopefully needing community moderators (perhaps one for each contributing country?), first preference will be given to map contributers. Thanks and happy map building!

Leipzig / Wave Gotik Treffen 2008 - Spare hotel booking
We've double booked so I'm about to cancel a reservation - which means there'll be a room spare for anyone who's quick enough to jump on it.
- 4 nights (arr. Thu 8, dep. Mon 12) - Double room - Central Lepizg - i.e. it's actually in Leipzig, not Poland or Austria! In fact, it's close to the main railway station, the Morizbastei, some of the venues, etc - I think it's €75 a night or thereabouts.
Only reason we're cancelling is that we're not arriving until Fri and they were keener on the full 4 nights. The staff seemed nice hence I'm posting this here...
Leave a comment if you're interested and I'll reply with their details.

[15 Nov 2007|07:38pm] |
From time to time, we need to remind people to read the rules, but first and foremost:
THIS IS A COMMUNITY FOR PEOPLE WHO USE THE UK_GOFFS IRC CHANNEL.
If you don't: DON'T POST
If you don't know what IRC (or this particular channel) is, DON'T POST.
Most people take the time to read the info page of communities they join. If you can't do that, you aren't welcome. Ta.

| An issue ... |
[13 Nov 2007|04:45pm] |
.... people seem to think we ALL know about.... even though a lot of us don't.
Anyway. those who don't know, this year i lost my sister and my bestfriend's husband to suicide.
The lack of support available in terms of councilling has been shite quite honest. and as a result i have lost a good deal of my hair - and have been told i can't dye it anymore.... as you know a goth without her red hair dye is a lost goth indeed.
Anyway - i discovered a petition to get support for it and i would so much like to ask if people could sign it and pass this on because well.... while we might not have been suicidal we might have lost people to it.
Anyway.
Thanks a lot.
ps - you will need to click on the link in a confirmation email for your name to be added,
Many thanks. Please pass this to all you know who may be willing to sign it.

| Individuality... |
[13 Nov 2007|10:07am] |
Hey there, I was wondering if you guys could help me...
My latest art project is called 'The Big Issue'
I have to address an issue which affects me as a person, this can be done in any way as long as the end product is in A4 format. So really...I have lots of options.
I decided to address the issue 'Individuality' - which in my eyes is a big issue.
Now for this, I need to come up with as much research as possible. I thought it would be a good idea if anyone out there could write a few sentences on how they see individuality as an issue. I'm talking about the pressure that people are faced with everyday in this society where being size zero is a good thing. Where spending stupid amounts of money on high street labels is a must and the mainstream clothes in fashion is a must-have to your wardrobe. Where those who do dress different from the norm suffer. People considered to be alternative, have you ever suffered abuse. because of what you wear and how you look? How do you feel as a person when you are faced with this pressure everyday? I'm sure it affects some of you. If it has affected you, how and what extent has it affected you? What are you views on it all? Who is to blame? What do you think should be done about this issue?
I would like responses from those people who feel they are not alternative as well as those who think they dress or act different from the norm of society. The reason being is, I want everyone's views on this - not just a bunch of alternative people.
I would greatly appreciate if you could help me research this issue. Thank you.
