Michael on Regis and Kelly
"Ugly Betty's" Michael Urie Cuts The Rug On "Live With Regis And Kelly"
October 15, 2008 3:04 p.m. EST
New York, NY (CNS) - Actor Michael Urie, who plays Marc St. James on the ABC hit "Ugly Betty," appeared on "Live with Regis and Kelly" on Wednesday.
Urie, who was promoting the ABC show, danced with Kelly and told Anderson Cooper, who was filling in for Regis, that he would like to interview him.
Urie told the hosts that filming "Ugly Betty" was a great experience, and although they showed clips of his fabulous on-screen wardrobe, what Celebrity News Service enjoyed most about Urie's appearance was his dancing with Kelly.
Kelly, who has been trying to get Cooper to dance, easily talked Urie into an all-out dance-a-thon. The two cut the rug while Cooper looked on.
Urie, who is a Julliard graduate, also lent his voice to one of the dogs on the hit movie "Beverly Hills Chihuahua," which is currently in theaters.
"Ugly Betty" airs on ABC Thursday nights at 8/7c.

Requesting the help of Ugly Betty Fans
Hi!
I'm a grad student at the University of Texas and as a part of a class project I'm modding a meta-fandom community that features Ugly Betty. The purpose of my project is to create a on online meeting space for fans of shows that feature gay/lesbian/bi/trans characters.
I could really use your help. Leave a comment or email me if you're interested in posting an entry over at
queer_as_tv to discuss your thoughts on how the characters Mark, Alexis, and Justin are portrayed on the show.
I'd specifically love to have someone write about the S1 story line where Daniel is coming to terms with Alexis' transition male to female.
We'd love to have as many Ugly Betty fans participate in the community

Thanks in advance for your help!

Overnight Ratings for UB
From TVbythenumbers.com:
More details, 18-34 and Univision numbers coming when they are available.
CSI opened its season with a larger audience than the comparable date last year last year’s premiere and pushed CBS to the overall viewership and demo adults 18-49 win for the night. Grey’s Anatomy faded noticeably from its premiere, but helped ABC take second for viewers and 18-49 adults for the night.
Survivor: Gabon beat down the competition from 8-9 winning easily, but did slip 0.1 in the 18-49 demo from last week. Ugly Betty was just about even with last week, while My Name is Earl kept its audience steady, but lost 0.2 ratings points in the 18-49 demo.
Kath & Kim did much better than I expected (and better than Earl) in its premiere, beating everything but Survivor in the demo for its half hour.
CSI premiere topped its 2007-8 premiere and pushed Grey’s Anatomy down at 9pm. Interesting to see if Grey’s can stabilize at that level. The Office held its audience from 9/25, but slipped 0.3 rating points in the 18-49 demo.
Life on Mars and Eleventh Hour premiered to nearly identical numbers at 10pm. The horse race of the new shows was closer than I would have thought, it will be interesting to watch it develop. While it came in behind the premieres, ER won the 18-49 demo for the hour, and bettered its 9/25 audience by 1.4 million and its 18-49 demo by 0.7 rating points, quite an improvement.
( A look at the numbers & more from ABC )

'Ugly Betty': 'We always want to surprise our audience'
A few weeks ago Variety.com allowed Ugly Betty Fans to post questions for Silvio Horta to answer on their Season Pass Blog. Here are Horta's answers--
Posted by Kathy Lyford
The "Ugly Betty" Q&A is ready! Silvio Horta has responded to your questions and the answers are below.
I sent him all the compliments that preceded the questions and they made him very happy. He received all of your questions and he chose the following ones to answer. (I requested that he answer at least one Gio question since so many of you seemed to be interested in that character.) In some cases, similar questions were combined.
You won't find a sweeter guy in Hollywood than Silvio Horta. He never has a bad word to say about anyone and he's very humble. His family and his culture are very important to him. He's very proud of his show and I'm sure he'd want to thank all of you for watching. (I love this picture of him from last year's Emmys with all his girls.)
And I would like to thank Silvio for his time because I know he has very little of it to spare. I'd also like to thank each of you for participating and waiting so patiently for the answers. And here we go…

Little blurb on Patricia Field
Patricia Field Brings Beautiful Fashion to Ugly Betty
Sex and the City's style mastermind enlivens Betty's third season.
Nora Ashkar, Oct 06, 2008

The famed stylist and fashion mastermind behind Sex and the City, Patricia Field, has a new gig on the set of Ugly Betty. Since the show moved production from L.A. to New York this year, Field, who styled the pilot episode, has returned to the fashion-centric program for its third season.
Set in the offices of fictional fashion magazine Mode, Ugly Betty's cast is typically dressed in understated colors and classic silouhettes, but America Ferrera's Betty Suarez is another story. Just like Carrie Bradshaw's wardrobe, Betty's closet is a mash-up of high-end designer pieces -- including Marc Jacobs, Viktor and Rolf, and Alexander McQueen -- and one of a kind vintage finds. But that's where the similarities end. Betty's kooky style is all about traffic-stopping colors, clashing patterns and questionable layering.
Patricia Field demonstrates that it's not the clothes or labels that give you style, but how you wear them. Underneath the tacky, mismatched layers, Betty wears some great pieces, but they get lost in a jumble of color and pattern. Perhaps she has the quirky fashion sense of Carrie Bradshaw, taken a few steps too far.
If you're looking to separate out Betty's fabulousness, visit SeenON!, a Web site that breaks down fashion on all your favorite shows. The site makes it easy to recreate the looks worn by your favorite characters, whether you're a Wilhelmina or you're suppressing your inner Betty.
