Hey Community,

Your friendly neighborhood moderator here. First of all thanks to an "anonymous" (how apropos) community member for this idea.

Who's up for a diversion from finals?

I'm not really a Republican. I just don't care very much about politics, so I support Bush to piss people off. If I lived in somewhere like Utah I'd be the biggest flaming liberal ever.

i'll be starting at berkeley the coming fall as a freshman
i've been watching this community for weeks
but haven't posted anything
even though I have tons of questions

for fear of being made fun of/picked on for being inexperienced or annoying you all by asking stupid questions. or bothering you guys while you're studying for finals.

I was a straight A student until this year. Then my girlfriend of seven years dumped me, my grandfather died unexpectedly two days later, my other grandfather was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, and I've been unable to think or concentrate or do much of anything except sleep since then. Now I expect I'll get straight C's or worse this final semester of my senior year, but I haven't been able to talk to anyone about it because my self-image is so wrapped up in being this perfect, unfazable student.

My girlfriend, who I thought was more of a perfect match for me than any girl I've ever met, dumped me recently. I've been devestated, but we have to put on a shiny face, right? I'm horribly lonely and shy, and she was one of the only people I knew around Berkeley on a close, personal basis. Now I don't know what to do, being stuck here for the summer without any real friends. Misery! Lonliness! Despair!
