Final deadline
Okay, last weekend to vote, everyone. We're going to set the deadline at two weeks from when the last categories were announced, so voting will close Sunday the 10th at midnight Central time.

Jenn, Celli and I have consulted, and here's our take:
We are listening to all the constructive feedback, and rather than changing the rules now for one category--which we believe would be unfair to the stories nominated in the previous three categories--we have decided to keep to the same guidelines, with the only exception being the two week voting period due to the sheer volume of nominated works.
This year is basically a shakedown cruise.
We pretty much assumed as much, since we're taking a system that was used for a fandom where all the fiction was posted in one single forum--thus negating the need for nominations--and moving it to a fandom with no single repository for the majority of fan fiction. Also, we're trying to cover fiction which has been written over almost two years period, which is scattered over multiple archives and dozens of single-author archives and websites. So the maiden voyager of The Treasury is a pretty massive undertaking, but we're hoping in subsequent years that it will become a much smoother ride.
(And yes, we're nuts enough to consider this an annual thing.)
All of your comments have helped us identify the "bugs" in the system, and hopefully next summer, we can eliminate many of them. We're never going to please all of the people all of the time, but we're doing what we can. And we do appreciate your comments, and encourage discussion to help us identify areas where the process can be simplified and made more efficient and effective. | | Sunday, July 27th, 2003 | 10:14 pm

Announcement of Voting Extension
Everything's up and doing its thing. One story is missing an author, as ff.net will not allow me in to SEE the damn thing.
Now, for actual news.
Voting will be extended for two weeks on this group. There are altrustiic reasons and personal ones, one of the ones I like best being that these are the largest groups and just to give you an idea of number, made up a little over half the entirety of the nominations sent in. Yes, that many. After voting is over, I'll release the exact numbers, but I think when I did a precount it came up around six or seven hundred. Nominations, that is.
So, more time, more stories, more headaches, more links. Challenging. The word you're looking for is challenging.
Usual thing--post here or email with any questions, answers, snide remarks, quotable quotes, or recipes for apricot jam, not preserves. The one I tried failed and I'm bitter. Very, very bitter. | 10:06 pm

Twenty Four Hour Warning to Closing and Announcement
Group Three:
Twenty four hours until voting closes on the Group Three. Well, actually, twenty three hours, thirty-five minutes or so, but who is really counting that specifically?
Announcement:
Due to circumstances completely in my control, I'm delaying the beginning of voting for Group Four for twenty four hours. So expect the voting lists to go up midnight Saturday/Sunday.
