I don't know if anyone is even interested at all, but just in case:

I started a Lightning game blog called Race For the Puck if you want to check it out. I'd love to talk shop with everyone!

  • Jul. 12th, 2007 at 10:18 AM

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE •   July 11, 2007

LIGHTNING OPEN 15TH ANNIVERSARY SEASON WITH OCT. 4 PLAYOFF REMATCH AGAINST NEW JERSEY

THRASHERS, PANTHERS ALSO TO VISIT ST. PETE TIMES FORUM
DURING 2007-08 SEASON’S OPENING WEEK

TAMPA BAYThe Tampa Bay Lightning will open their 15th Anniversary National Hockey League season with a playoff rematch against the New Jersey Devils on Thursday, October 4 at the St. Pete Times Forum. Southeast Division rivals Atlanta (Saturday, October 6) and Florida (Wednesday, October 10) will also visit the St. Pete Times Forum in the 2007-08 season’s first week before the Lightning take on the Panthers in Sunrise on Saturday, October 13 for their road opener.

Of the Lightning’s 41 home dates at the St. Pete Times Forum, 27 will take place on Thursday, Friday or Saturday night. The majority of start times for home games will be 7:30 p.m. with Friday night games once again starting at 8 p.m.

The Lightning will play in only 11 back-to-back situations in 2007-08 and won’t play on consecutive nights at home the entire season. Tampa Bay’s regular season concludes on Saturday, April 5 at Atlanta, and the team will play its final eight games against Southeast Division rivals.

“Our players, coaches and staff are all beaming with optimism as we look to begin our 15th Anniversary Season in pursuit of our fifth straight postseason appearance,” said Ron Campbell, president of the Lightning and the St. Pete Times Forum. “We have raised the expectation bar with four playoff berths, two division titles and a Stanley Cup Championship during the past four years and we look forward to continued success in 2007-08. We encourage fans to secure their season ticket or mini-season ticket plans soon as demand continues to increase for Lightning tickets.”

The best way to get tickets is through a Lightning ticket plan with full-season tickets starting as low as $659 and 10-game mini-plans starting as low as $99.  A single-game ticket on-sale date will be announced at a later time.  For more information regarding ticket packages and pricing call 813.301.6600.  For group information call 813.301.6900.

For the 2007-08 season, each club in the Eastern Conference will once again play the other clubs in its division a total of eight times. Each club will play the other clubs in its conference four times, and each club will play a single game against two divisions from the other conference. Tampa Bay will travel to face the Western Conference’s Central Division (Chicago, Columbus, Detroit, Nashville, St. Louis) while the Northwest Division’s teams (Calgary, Colorado, Edmonton, Minnesota, Vancouver) will visit the St. Pete Times Forum. The Calgary Flames will play in Tampa for the first time since Game 7 of the 2004 Stanley Cup Finals when they visit on Thursday, December 13.

Among the highlights of the home schedule are four games against the 2007 Southeast Division champion Atlanta Thrashers (Oct. 6, Oct. 20, Nov. 3, March 31), four meetings with the cross-state rival Florida Panthers (Oct. 10, Nov. 7, Feb. 2, March 25) and four visits by Alexander Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals (Nov. 16, Dec. 15, Feb. 16, March 27).  The Lightning’s 2007 Eastern Conference Quarterfinal opponent, New Jersey, visits the St. Pete Times Forum for the opener on October 4 and again on November 24.

At the Forum

The Lightning will play host to a pair of four-game home-stands and one five-game home-stand this season. The five-game stand is January 22 (Edmonton), January 24 (Ottawa), January 29 (Buffalo), January 31 (Vancouver) and February 2 (Florida).

On the road

The 2007-08 season will include 12 road trips of two or more games and a total of 10 single-game road trips. The longest Lightning trip of the season will be a four-game journey from January 1-8 (Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, NY Rangers).

Back-to-back

The Lightning will play 11 sets of back-to-back games this season, seven with both games on the road, one with the first game at home and three with the first game on the road. The first set of back-to-back games will be at Washington on Wednesday, October 24 and home against Philadelphia on Thursday, October 25.

You know,

  • May. 30th, 2006 at 8:48 PM
these playoffs are starting to make me wonder if maybe we should have hung onto Stillman afterall... 16 points, 3 game winning goals.

A meme...

  • Apr. 24th, 2006 at 12:18 PM
...in the true sense of the word. Pass the following phrase around the internet, to the media, to the man on the street. Eventually, it will be true:

If it weren't for one bad period, the Lightning would be up 2-0 in the series. Ottawa is in full choke mode again.

Also if someone comes up with a picture/screengrab of Marty leveling Volchenkov.... that would be an excellent "pwn'd" pic. That is all.

ST. PETERSBURG - Lightning fans can get another up-close glimpse of the Stanley Cup.

Former team captain Dave Andreychuk and general manager Jay Feaster will present the Cup at BayWalk in St. Petersburg on April 8. It will be the first public appearance for the Cup since opening night in October.

St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Baker will honor Andreychuk, who helped lead the Lightning to the 2004 Stanley Cup championship. Lightning radio voice Dave Mishkin will emcee a short program starting at noon, at which Feaster will present a special gift to the St. Petersburg Chamber of Commerce.

The festivities will take place in the BayWalk Courtyard, with Andreychuk scheduled to appear and sign autographs from noon-1 p.m. The Stanley Cup will be on display for pictures from noon-3 p.m. St. Petersburg Chamber of Commerce members will have a special viewing with the Cup from 10:30 a.m.-noon in the Muvico Cinemas at BayWalk. Chamber members needing more information should call Dianne Caton at 727-821-4069.

Too..many... tickets

  • Feb. 20th, 2006 at 9:37 PM
Due to some lack of communication, my family and I have 5 extra tickets to the Lightning vs. Capitals game on my birthday, March 23rd.

They are in section 303. I have to get the exact row information from my sister, but they are in the center ice region. Face value is 19.00.

If anyone would like tickets or is in need of them, please email me at celticwarrior82@yahoo.com!

It's not my fault they had a 50 percent off sale on tickets and I got bad ass seats...

That intermission interview with DiMaio was a little disturbing.

I'm thinking I might want to start a betting pool on when the NHL will finally get over Sidney Crosby. I understand the guy's a great player and all, but Gawd am I sick of hearing about it every time someone might have said something that kind of sounds like 'puck.'

I'm going to the Lightning vs. Pens game next Sunday, and I'm wondering, what time do they usually start warming up? The game starts at 5. Also, could anyone possibly give me directions to the arena from I-4 West? Everytime I go (using directions from mapquest) I get extremely lost and somehow end up at the exact same gas station as the time before. When driving it's kind of hard to look at streets names, so maybe landmarks would help. I can't stand the Pens, so hopefully we will perform like we did last night and kick some butt.

So if anyone has a paid account and wants a Stanley Cup Champions moodtheme, you're welcome to mine.

Save these images to your OWN Photobucket/server/whatever it is you use, because if I see gaping holes in my entries where little pictures should go, I'm probably going to be pissed. I don't care about credit (none of the photos are mine anyway), but please, please don't hotlink from my Photobucket.

If anyone needs help getting it set up, or wants a .zip file with the pictures and instructions on how to get everything in place faster, comment and I'll get that to you as soon as I can (probably within 24 hours).

I know it's a bit early in the season to start bitching and moaning about the guys.

But, what the heck is wrong with them?! Shots 32-14 and the boys still lose?! Where are they on the rebounds? I only saw the 1st period of last nights game, and it felt like a totally different team. I know alot of time has gone past since the last time I saw them play.

I think I'll start bombarding them with some hockey-type inspiring post cards. This will probably get me arrested for harassment if I actually succeed with my plot.

3-2-2 isn't terrible, right? RIGHT?!

This new crack-down on calling penalties is really starting to get annoying. Just let 'em play, for Pete's sake!
