| Lunar New Year - Part 1 |
[17 Feb 2007|09:22pm] |
"And then you do this and this and this," Mrs Wu was showing Jade how to put together a flower arrangement for decorations of the house getting ready for the Lunar New Year.
And she calls this simple? Jade stared in amazement looking at a bouquet of flowers that even Sweet Valley Florist would be jealous of. "But Mom, is it good luck for flowers to be visible in the New Year? It's going to die before the 7 days of celebrations are over."
"Flowers is always good luck," Mrs Wu assured her, starting to pack up the mess she created during the arrangement. "Okay, now I need you to go to the store to get me a few things."
"Mom, come on," Jade sighed exhuasted in protest not even wanting to move let alone go anywhere. "I've spent hours cleaning up the ENTIRE house from top to bottom, scrubbing every single tile crack to make sure even that sparkles. I can't do anything else anymore let alone drive. I don't see why every year before New Year I have to literally make sure the house is completely spotless."
"It's to start the New Year fresh and new," Mrs Wu explained, heading towards the kitchen. "Everything has to be bright so that our lives will shine."
"Seriously, do you really believe that?" Jade asked incredulous as she followed her mother.
"Yes," Mrs Wu said seriously, throwing the flower scraps into the bin. "It's tradition."
"No, it's the entire Asian nation being superstitious," Jade rolled her eyes, but yelped when her mother whacked her on the arm.
"Don't be disrespectful," Mrs Wu slightly frowned, as she checked on her cooking. "Now go and get me the things on the list before your relatives arrive so we can pray."

Sitting on the hood of her car waiting for the boys soccer team finish practicing, Amy examined her nails until she saw Aaron walking towards his car, which happened to be next to hers. Wow.. She breathed as she took in the male image of him imprinted into her mind.
"Hey, Amy, what are you doing here?" Aaron asked, seeing her jumping off the hood of her car.
"I was going for a jog around the tracks this morning. But now my car won't start," she explained, feeling her cheeks growing slightly warmer from the half truth. She had left her headlights on purposely so it would drain out the battery. "I'm waiting for AAA to come but they haven't showed yet."
"Yeah, they take forever to get anywhere," Aaron opened the passenger side door to throw his bag in. "Do you know why it won't start?"
"No," she lied, shaking her head innocently. "It worked fine when I drove here but now it won't start. I was thinking, maybe you could take a look at it so I could tell the AAA guy specifically what's wrong so he won't think I'm an idiot."
"Sure," Aaron agreed, closing the door to walk over to her car thinking of the possibilities of the car problems. It shouldn't be anything major because Amy's car is pretty brand new. "Maybe you could pop the hood and try starting the engine again."
She did as she was told, even though she knew it was going to be no use as the car won't start.
Aaron heard the choking sound, standing up straighter. "The battery is dead."
"Oh crap," Amy cursed, acting to be annoyed at the news.
"Hey don't worry about it, I've got jumping cables in my car. It'll only take a few minutes to fix." Aaron assured her, walking to the boot of his car to get the cables out.
Amy watched him silently working as he fixed her car "problem". He's so sweet and so nice to me. When he climbed back into his car to turn the engine on, he turned to look at her smiling. She blushed smiling back at him thankfully.
When her car came to life again, she leapt out of her car to hug Aaron tightly, loving the feeling of him against her. "Thank you so much!"
"Hey, it's okay," Aaron assured her, as he hugged her back being nice. "You're welcome."

"You know what," said Jade, as she stretched her arms over her head trying to get the stiffness out of her body. "It's Saturday night, we should be out clubbing instead of in here studying."
"Just studying for one of the most important exams of the year," Liz dropped her pen down onto her text book, looking around the mass of opened text books opened on every surface around Jade's dorm room. The feeling of claustrophobia suddenly hit her. "But you're right, we should go out and have some fun. All this studying is going to fry our brains."
"That's just hilarious coming from you," Jade teased, stretching her arms out in front of her. "2 years ago the thought of too much studying wouldn't even occur to you."
"2 years ago I didn't know how fantastic college is," Liz smiled, blushing slightly embarrassed that she was such a nerd back then.
"Speaking of how great college is, I was thinking of becoming an RA next year," Jade announced, standing up to stretch her back. "You know, there are a lot of people especially Freshmans who need help with college."
"You would make an amazing RA," Liz supported her friend, knowing Jade's a great person to talk to and ask advice from.
"Do you really think so?" Jade asked, getting suddenly self-concious.
"I'm not even a Freshman in trouble and I still go to you for advice and you're the person I go to when I need to confide anything to. You are one of my bestest friends," Liz said honestly.

Jessica came storming into the apartment coming home from classes. "I'm not just going to do nothing!"
"Do what?" Elizabeth turned her head from the couch watching her sister walk into the living room area.
"Cara took off with our nephew. I have a right to know where he is buried, don't I?" she placed her hands her hips confronting Liz with the question, feeling pissed off. "I want to know what happened. She can't just do that and it be final."
"She did do that and it is final," Liz told her, not liking the whole situation at all either but there was nothing they could do. "Just leave things be. She's just as hurt as Steven is. It's really none of our business. It's between her and Steven."
"No it doesn't, it involves everyone," Jessica snapped, couldn't believe Liz was defending Cara. "That baby has two set of families, what gives her the right to just keep him for her side?"
"She's the baby's mother. We're the aunts. Mother trumps aunts in this situation." She answered logically and calmly.
"I can't believe Steven isn't going to fight," she paced up and down venting. "If he loves his son as much as he says, why isn't he trying to find him? He doesn't even have to see Cara, just his son."
"He's mourning. Jessica, let it go. There is nothing we can do." Liz said helplessly knowing her words weren't getting through to Jess.
"Oh yes there is," she said heatedly. "I want to know what happened and why. I won't rest until I find her. If Steven doesn't want to know where his son is, then fine. I want to know where my nephew is buried."
"Out of respect for Steven, don't do this," Liz pleaded. "You're just going to add more pain for him. Don't make him feel any more worse."
"It's worse that he's always wondering why with all those questions instead of knowing the facts and answers," Jessica said stubbornly as she marched to her bedroom ending the conversation.

"Deck the hall with boughs of holly, fa la la la la, la la la la," Jessica sang happily as she was enjoying decorating the Christmas cookies wearing an adorable Christmas theme apron she had saw in the store earlier that morning when she went to buy ingredients. "'Tis the season to be jolly --"
"Please, please, for the love of hearing, please stop singing!" pleaded Liz, as she burst into the kitchen holding a roll of sticky tape and a pair of scissors. "I know you can't hear your tone deafness in singing but I can!"
"Fine," Jessica scowled at her sister, feeling slightly offended and hurt by that outburst. "You are such a scrooge wrecking my good Christmas mood."
Aaron walked into the apartment holding a handful of their mails, distracted about being worried to not notice the twins glaring at each other. "Hey, girls, I was just wondering, have you both seen Steven or Cara lately? Their mailbox is stuffed to the max like it hasn't been emptied in days."
"I haven't," Jessica replied, continuing to add little red balls to the Christmas tree cookies.
"They haven't been over for dinner in a while either," Aaron placed the mail onto the counter top.
"He did cancel out on lunch on Sunday too," Liz pointed out, realising it was strange that she hasn't seen her brother around. Her cell phone rang so she went to answer it.
"You should go check on them, Jess," Aaron stood beside her to check out the cookies. He wanted to take one but he was uncertain of the bodily consequences.
"Why me? You go," Jessica added white balls this time instead of red. "I'm busy."
Aaron stood beside her with his arms folded across his chest staring at her with a certain stern look on his face which he knows drives her nuts because she hates seeing him serious.
"Alright! I hate that look!" Jessica placed down the icing bag onto the table shooting him a dirty look. "You are so evil," she huffed as she took off her apron heading out of the kitchen.
Aaron grinned at her back as she left, he picked up a cookie and bit into it. Instantly he pulled a grossed out face and spat out what was in his mouth. "What the hell did she put into this?"

Devon heard a car park out the front of his house and sighed. They're here already. Shit... Is it already this late? I really must be hung over he groaned and walked through the back entrance to open the side gate for his guests to arrive.
He greeted the first of the lot and wondered back over to where the BBQ was already well on it's way cooking. Where is Dana? She didn't come home after the gig. After I walked out he thought to himself and waved to the new arrivals and took a long swig of his beer.
(I guess post your threads here, or convos! sorry it's late!)

Music will be provided by the party's musical guests, if they bring along an instrument of choice.
This isn't a big thing, really. Just a chance to catch up before we all go crazy with the Holiday Festivities Season.

Aaron jumped up onto the small wooden coffee table in the middle of the room letting out a ear piercing whistle a split second after Liz had cut off the music in the apartment at the house warming party to get the attention of everyone as they all turned to stare at him. "Hey, everyone, I have an announcement to make."
Jessica's heart was thundering inside her chest, couldn't stop smiling as she knew what Aaron was going to say to everyone. She was so excited and wanting to burst as she's been wanting to tell everyone for days now. Glancing around the room seeing all their closest friends as well as randoms, she was glad everyone was here at the same time.
"I asked Jessica to marry me," Aaron said as he held her hand to pull her up onto the table beside him, "And she said yes. We're engaged."
Jessica held her breath waiting for everyone's reactions...

"And so, that's how the tour was for me," Jade wrapped up what she was saying as she and Liz were hanging out in the twins and Aaron's new apartment. "I've never had that much fun in my life. I definitely want to go on tour again with Brian."
"As a dancer or as more than friends?" Liz teased, being happy and excited for her friend seeing her beaming with happiness.
"Both?" Jade admitted, feeling her cheeks grow warmer as she blushed. "I know it's no secret between us that I have a massive crush on him but now that he and I have toured together, how can I tell him?"
"I think it's a better time now to tell him than before you both went on tour together because now you've both spent the entire summer together. Sharing experiences and hanging out all the time." Elizabeth said sensibly. "I think he definitely likes you more now than before."
"Only because I practically saved his tour," Jade said, wanting to believe Liz but she just couldn't believe that Brian would like her more now. They might have hung out together daily but it was still just on a friends basis which annoyed her but she is grateful to spend time with him.
"No, really, I think you should tell him," Liz insisted.

"OMG! I can't believe Aaron Dallas asked Jessica Wakefield to marry him and she said YES!" A random college freshman was shrieking in the cafeteria as Amy was standing in line waiting to pay for her meal.
Amy's heart lunged down to her feet hearing those words in disbelief. It couldn't be true because Jessica would have definitely told her friends, especially her as they are best friends. She left her tray onto the counter as she marched out of the cafeteria as she was instantly on her cell phone calling Jessica.
Jess answered her phone as she was in the middle of making herself a sandwich in her brand new stocked up kitchen. "Hello, Jessica speaking," she greeted as she added a piece of lettuce on top of the slice of bread.
"Is it true you are engaged to Aaron?" Amy blasted as she headed towards her car.
"Where did you hear that from?!" Jessica's heart started thundering as she knew she hasn't told anybody yet except for Liz. Her eyes narrowed as she instantly thought her sister would be telling the news before herself. Jessica wanted to announce it at their housewarming party in the weekend.
"From some random freshman kid at school," Amy replied, taking her keys out of her bag. "Is it true?"
"Do you think it is?" Jessica instantly answered, half wanting to burst the news but half she had a bet with Aaron that she couldn't wait until the housewarming party to tell anyone. He understood about Liz but she wasn't allowed to tell anybody else, which she thought is seriously torture.
"No!" Amy instantly replied, praying that it wasn't true because Aaron is meant to be with her not with Jessica.
"Go with that thought," Jessica told her, silently sighing with relief wanting to shock everyone at the party.

Brian was tapping on his drum set in the basement of the house, feeling slightly restless yet having a whole ton of inspiration in him. He remembered the run in with Dana in the middle of the night so he quickly grabbed his phone from his pocket to call her.
She heard her phone start ringing and quickly put down her guitar and opened up Max's basement door. "Hello?" she asked, not recognising the number.
"Hey, Dana? It's me. Daniel aka Brian," he greeted with an amused smile
She laughed and sat down on the sidewalk "Oh hey there brother, whats going on?" she asked, playing with the zippo lighter she retrieved from her pocket.

Steven urgently rapped on the twins apartment door waiting for one of them to open up.
"Hey," Liz greeted as she opened the door tying the apron strings behind her back. "I was just about to cook dinner. Do you want to have dinner with us?"
"Sure," he agreed, as he stepped into the still almost bare apartment. "Is Jess here?"
"She's in her bedroom," Liz directed, walking back to the kitchen.
Steven marched towards the bedroom glad that door was open. He saw Jessica standing in her full length mirror checking herself out. "Geez, is that all you do?"

He stood by the fridge, his gaze glazing over as he looked at the shelves. What can I eat? he tapped the door with his fingers as he explored his options. Finally deciding on a two layer sandwhich, he shut the door and began the preperation of the best feed he could create.
She saved the last picture one the website she was looking at and typed into the address the website she hadn't looked at in a while. Red eye... I wonder whats been happening there since HE won't tell me She stretched her legs out on the bed while the page loaded.

Devon. And Dana.
He felt the sun on his face and winced, wondering why the sunlight reached his bed. He blocked out the light and looked around the room, a little confused, his head spinning. Where the hell am I? he looked on the bed he lay on and blinked stupidly
She stretched her arm across on the bed and her eyes darted open when it was empty next to her. She yawned and sat up looking around the room, hearing the eery quiet of the house. She layed down in bed again and sighed.
It hit him when he rolled out of bed, his head pounding. The spare room.. Then he remembered... The fight. He groaned again, thinking of the previous nights, remembering the argument he and Dana had. How stupid. Just because I was late.

Who: Brian and Dana
Walking into the supermarket late at night Brian was relieved that hardly anyone was in the store as he didn't feel like being mobbed. Even though people back home were more friendly and polite, he just wanted to go in and out with no hassles. Where do they keep the chocolate muffins? Brian thought as he wandered slowly up the aisle
Dana threw the packet of Oreos in the basket and sighed, looking at the list and walking down to the next aisle. She walked down the bakery section for breakfast goods and was surprised to see Brian there, looking at the muffins. She smiled "Brian?" she asked, walking closer to him.

Who: Jessica and Aaron with a bit of Elizabeth
As Jessica switched off the ensuite bathroom light off walking towards her brand new huge queen sized bed, she tucked a few strands of hair behind her ear making sure her sleeping shirt was on correctly. The bedroom was perfectly decorated with dimly lit candles and flower petals all around the room looking so romantic for just the both of them in their first night of sleeping together in their own bedroom.
Aaron walked into their bedroom closing the door behind him. "Hey, baby," he smiled softly, thinking her so adorable in her nightshirt as he walked towards her.
She was sitting on the end of the bed glancing at him silently as she squirted a small amount of hand moisturising cream into the palm of her hand, rubbing her hands together to cream her hands. She was still a bit miffed about the crooked picture.

"Aaron, it's crooked!" Jessica called, standing in the middle of the hallway looking at a picture that was placed onto it's side at a weird angle. "The Leaning Tower of Pisa is actually looking like it's standing straight up!"
"It's meant to be like that!" Aaron called back from the kitchen, taking the bottle of water out of the fridge. He twisted the cap open wishing it was Jessica's neck as she was driving him crazy with her bossiness and demands all day.
"It doesn't look right," she answered, tilting her head this way and that trying to make it look good in her mind as she was staring at it.
"So you fix it," he stepped into the hallway, taking a gulp. As he held onto the bottle with one hand, he placed his other hand on his hip watching her bend over slighty towards the wall.
"You put it up so you fix it," she answered back stubbornly, straightening up to place both hands on her hips facing towards him.

Who: Mandy and Elizabeth
Liz was waiting outside of the cafeteria waiting for Mandy to arrive, needing a break from moving into the apartment. They had been going at it all weekend and only half of their things arrived.
Needing a break from her sample married life she told Liz she'd meet her for lunch. It was almost like being married now that her and Ryan were living together. Too bad she couldnt tell anyone. She'd get thrown out of SVU if she did and he'd be fired. She sighed, and waved at Liz pasting a phony smile on her face so she doesnt look as nervous as she really is. "Hey! Thank you so much for dragging me out of the house!" Mandy says, stopping next to Liz.
