Summon Night: Twin Age is coming to the US thanks to Atlus! http://www.atlus.com/snta/ There are a few screenshots and a trailer, as well as a story summary and character descriptions on the website. Some noteworthy things about this game are that as far as I can tell it's the first one completely unrelated to the others (even Exthesis took place in a world connected to Limbaum) and that its control scheme is based around the stylus. Also, character designs are by the same artist who did Riviera, so if you liked that game, try this!

The Japanese website is http://www.summonnight.net/snworld/snta/index.html if you'd like to listen to the music and see more pictures (screenshots/art).

I'd also like to note that the page for Summon Night 1 DS has been updated a lot (it's here). Let's hope TA does well so they'll bring this here!

    Summon Night back in America!
Good news for the American SN fans. Atlus has announced that it will be releasing Twin Age on May 20th.

    Website: http://www.atlus.com/snta/
    Announcement: http://www.atlus.com/new_forum/viewtopic.php?t=813

Jeez...first baroque, then FES, and now this...Atlus is just trying to become my favorite game company...

Hopefully this means they'll localize the two remakes next.

Does anyone know the exact books that Dragon Shadow Spell has besides the guides? I've seen a couple of comic anthologies, but I'm specifically looking for a 4koma, if they have one. If not, I'll just buy one of the comic anthologies (they usually have 4koma in them). Thanks in advance!

    I hope this is okay to post here, since it is a Flight-Plan game. ^^;

Summon Night DS's page is up! http://www.summonnight.net/snworld/sn1ds/ As usual, it's a cute and engaging but Flash-intensive website, so beware loading and BGM. *grins at the nostalgic background music* Right now there's a few commercials, the cover art, and blogs by the developers. Still can't say I understand what's going into the Magical Disc extra though.

And Happy Holidays to those of you who celebrate it! :)

New scan from V-Jump of SNDS, at Jeux-France. This article mostly talks about the new stylus minigames in the port.

    Yay! Evidence!

A scan from this week's V-Jump shows a new cover for Summon Night 1 DS, a new function to make your summons feel better, the news that SN1&2 will be playable at Jump Festa and a preorder DVD. Called 'Special Compilation: Summon Night Magical Disc', it's produced by Gonzo. Looking at the phrasing, it might actually be a collection of all the game's OPs up until now, but what I first heard was an OAV, so let's hope for that. Or even a compilation of the openings + a an animated short...

Either way, the new cover art is really nice (Aya and Hayato in particular look wonderful). You can see the article thanks to this post on NeoGAF. (I can't link directly to the image, sorry, and Photobucket will resize it if I try hosting it there.)

New article on Poison Pink over at Famitsu today; this one introduces side characters. The king of St. Baldo, his daughter Lunache, a young boy named Rutika, a knight by the name of Rogue (or something like XD), the young pope candidate Rubato and the elf priestess Marie all have a profile, illustration and screenshot each.

I'm kind of too tired to translate story details right now but the CG environments are nice to look at, if anyone's interested. The art reminds me of a cross between Final Fantasy Tactics and Odin Sphere...

Lots of news lately! This time, it's an interview with Flight-Plan's president over at RPGFan. They touch on Dragon Shadow Spell (it sold about 20,000 more copies than they expected!), US releases of their games, and the new stuff they have coming. Seems like the new PS2 SN may be an action RPG! Exthesis fans, rejoice :)

Found the link over on NeoGAF, as usual.

V-Jump has an article on Summon Night 1 and 2's DS ports! You can see the scans at Jeux-France. :) Summon Night is scheduled for this spring, with SN2 scheduled for the summer, but we don't have precise release dates and prices yet.

What's new for the DS versions? Not much. The graphics and art are exactly the same. Touch pen support has been added, as has the ability to skip and review conversations. SN1 has Brave Clears now, as well as twice as many summons as the PSX version. For SN2, they've added a map on the top screen during battle.

The official website, http://summonnight.net/, promises more news in December. :)

I wonder if they'd add a few extra scenes... So far they aren't advertising any.

Yay! Summon Night 1 and 2 are getting ported to DS :)

From what I can tell, it looks exactly the same as PSX versions; I wonder if they'll change the gameplay any.

    Atlus, license these please!! :D

Famitsu has an article up on Poison Pink, here. It basically introduces the three main characters and the CG movies. It's in 3D - are there any other FP games in 3D? - though the conversations are still face chats with character illustrations. The juxtaposition is a little unnerving, especially since the character models look like plastic dolls. Oh well.

The game has a setting where you fight devils and capture them, turning them into PP (the devil's blood) which you can use up and set as equipment... don't ask me.

Teje is the first heroine to be introduced; she's 'princess-like' and capricious in personality, and in a search for the Ultimate Poison she's come to the Beast World of Besek. She has an unusually high interest in and skill for black magic, and is immune to attack spells. Sounds like a bad person to cut off in traffic o_0

Oriphen is the captain of the knight squadron of the country of Saint Baldamian and is the fiance of the princess Runashe; he's come to Besek to rescue her. Though he's really a generous young man, in his search he's become impatient and restless.

Hashe is a 17-year-old priestess from the Church of St Bardo who's cheerful and lighthearted, but is well-known for being extremely talented at white magic. At the command of her church, she's come to investigate Besek with two comrades.

Poison Pink is slated for a release in the spring of 2008.

    News! as in new news!
From NeoGAF, it seems this week's Famitsu announces a new Flight-Plan game!

    Poison Pink
    PS2, Banpresto, Spring 2008
    - developed by Flight Plan / Banpresto
    - original simulation RPG
    - char. design by tomatika, director Koichi Kawase, producer Tomakazu Fukazawa
    - game set in land between current world and magic world, called Beseku
    - story told from perspective of 3 main chars, Tage, Oriphin and Harshu
    - turn-based battles, capture 100+ beasts

Does anyone know if this is the same staff as Dragon Shadow Spell?

Anyway I'll update this post when I find scans :)

Edit: Not scans, but found the original 2ch thread.

Kawase was head of development for SN4 (here's an interview I found with him)
tomatika did eyecatch illustrations for DSS
Nirasawa Yasushi (designs for Godzilla and Kamen Rider) and Andou Kenji (Karas) are designing the 'Majins' (jin here is in katakana, so it's up in the air whether it means god or human)
Animated movie direction by Shirokumi (Moyashimon)
Seiyuu: main character Teje = Sudou Yumi, most notably the Japanese voice of Hermione, Oriphin = Kamiya Hiroshi, Hashe = Nakahara Mai

Correction - jin is written with 神 and 人 stacked on top of each other, which I'd never seen before.

    Scans.
Hi, first poster, long time lurker here. The name's Krile, and I just thought, since the community has been kinda dead lately, that I'd share some of my Summon Night 4 comic anthology/4koma scans with you all.

They're mostly illustrations rather than the comics themselves, but I did scan in ONE story that I thought was a) easy to understand even if you can't read Japanese, b) has some of the best artwork, and c) one of my personal favorites.

    Check 'em out here.

And as an added bonus, I have a few Summon Night: Swordcraft Story 2 scans as well:

    One of the covers.
    Another cover.
    An inside illustration.
    A 4koma featuring Aera & Arno.

If anyone wants to see more, let me know! I'd be happy to scan more in.

Anyway, just thought I'd share the wealth and all that jazz. RISE, COMMUNITY, RISE!

Twin Age (the new SN for the DS) has an official website up! http://www.snta.jp/ As always for the games in this series, the official site is nicely put together in Flash, with music and the ability to guide the main characters around the page and fight monsters. The monsters will occasionally drop items; once you have three you can download two official wallpapers. It's very cute, and gives a nice sense of what the actual gameplay will be like, though there's a disclaimer that it's different. Seems to be an RTS, though (are these getting popular now or what?)

Incidentally, this installment seems to not take place in Rinbaum...

Hurray, news! Been a while, hasn't it?

The latest issue of Weekly Jump announces two new Summon Night games, one for DS and one for PS2! The DS one is called Summon Night Twin Age: Seireitachi no Koe, but Koe written as 'combined song' so I think Harmony of the Spirits might be a good rendering. The main characters are the siblings Riiha and Ardo; apparently Riiha summoned the swordsman Ardo from another world. What's interesting is that they're shown on screen at the same time... is this the first SN besides Exthesis to do that?

Commands are entered with the touch screen in the 'Twin Age System'. Harmony of the Spirits is to be a 'new sensation touch RPG' (I have no idea what that means) and is due out in August of this year.

The PS2 version has no title or release date yet, but the main characters are Lost and Milette, who are supposed to be more grown-up. There's also a comment that it's 'a completely new series' so maybe they're moving away from the continuity in 1-4? It seems to be much less further along in production than the DS game...

I don't know who did the art, but it's not the GBA artist, Aoi Ohmori or Kuroboshi Kohaku. The DS art looks like it was done by the person who designed Riviera ~ The Promised Land by Sting, though...

Edited to correct a few errors and add some details.

    Hello!
Hello! I'm new here but I have had Summon Night: Swordcraft Story 2 since December. I have gotten to GurenGoura, beat form 1 and died against form 2. I was P***ED! when I found out he had 2 stages!!! >=(

Anyway, I was wondering, does anyone here have a large (at least 15 kb) picture or WORK-SAFE fanart of Dinah (Demon Girl) from the afformentioned game?
    It would be greatly appreciated!

Haven't updated the community news much lately, sorry. :) Here are two links that might be of interest: a review of Summon Night 4 at Siliconera, and by the same author, a long introduction to the series and discussion of each game. There are screenshots and links to the game intros on Youtube that help give a feel for what each game looks like. He's a bit lukewarm, but you do have to have a tolerance for a lot of text in SN games!

Since, as the author says, the main appeal in the Summon Night series is the characters, I'd have preferred a little more detail in that regard, but it's the most in-depth article on the SN series in English I've ever seen. It would be nice if he expanded his article someday to discuss Flight-Plan's other games (the Black-Matrix series and Dragon Shadow Spell).
