I wanted to remind people that forsaken_fandom is taking nominations now through August 15. Forsaken Fandom is a multi-fandom awards community which is for fandoms that have few or no awards. Profiler is included in the current round of awards along with many other fandoms including Blood Ties, Forever Knight, and Red Dwarf, to name a few.

So far there haven't been any nominations in Profiler, but there's still lots of time. So please check out forsaken_fandom start nominating or even consider signing up as a judge.






Jack/Sam get their own special category this round due to Skew dominating the Profiler category last time. So if you're interested in judging but don't have a lot of time, you could sign up as a judge just for skew!

I wanted to let people know that forsaken_fandom has opened up nominations for Round 2 of the Forsaken Fandom Awards. Profiler is on the list of fandoms being included in this round of awards and I'd like to encourage you all to come and participate.


Round 1 was a bit bumpy, it was our first Awards, so we've made some alterations to the rules and our format which we hope will remedy some of the problems we had the first time around. We want to be up front about what didn't work and the changes we've implemented to hopefully improve the awards and make them better. Our biggest problems the first time were an inordinate number of ties in several fandoms, people not knowing they could self-nominate and one or two ships dominating the categories.

To solve these issues we've revised the format the judges will be using, as well as the voting which should reduce and hopefully eliminate any ties. We're screening the nominations for privacy in the hopes of making people more comfortable about nominating themselves and anyone else - there's nothing wrong with wanting attention for your work and a lot of people don't nominate a person or work because they assume someone else will. And lastly, three of the fandoms included last time were largely dominated by a particular ship. It would be unfair to exclude those ships but at the same time we feel some balance is needed to make things fair to the rest of the fandom. For this reason any ship which had 40% or more of the nominations will be given it's own category. This is not intended to favor any ship or give it special treatment, rather it's a measure to level the playing field to make the awards fun and fair to as many people are possible.

We have decided based on the quanity of nominations from Round 1 that Skew - Jack/Sam will be in it's own category. Other Jack pairings will tenatively be with the rest of Profiler but may be moved if any of them seem to dominate the awards. It's great that Skew is so active, we just want to make sure everyone is included as much as possible.

Nominations will be open from now through 8/15

Today I got a copy of the script from The House That Jack Built and it was an absolute treasure trove of Skew!!! Here are some scenes which are very different from what we saw in the final episode. The altered scenes gave the episode and entirely different flavor and are ripe with plot bunnies!!!

After much interference from pesky RL I've finally finished my Obscurity!Mix for Sam/Jack, wherein their lives are chronicled via the obscure crap on my iTunes as requested by the lurvely m_ravensblood.

All lead-in quotes are from episodes of "Profiler" and, IMO, most of the songs and lyrics can be as skewed or non-skewed as the listener chooses to make them. Except for the decidedly-skewed cracky ficlet that leads in to the bonus track, because "Into the Dark" is just too damned angsty to end with, even for me. ;)

In preparing for some fandom awards I'm making categories for I jokingly started thinking of one for killing Jack in a fic and for some reason the South Park, OMG you killed Kenny bit ran through my head. Poking around online I found a place that had a character generator and played around and created a South Park version of Jack. Probably one of my silliest posts ever, but it was kind of fun. Not sure if I'll do any of the others yet or not :o)

Participation hasn't been too great for fanfic challenges so far this year, but hopefully that will change with our new and ultra steamy challenge!

Since May is National Masturbation Month, this month's challenge is Flying Solo - A Masturbation Fic Challenge

Your challenge is to write a fic or drabble in which Jack or one of his ladies is self-indulging. May be observed by another character or not. And may include sex, but must have at least one solo act. This challenge is only for our 18+ members - (sorry - but you're welcome to try your hand at one of previous challenges if you're too young for this challenge.) This can be canon, pre-series, AU, or wherever your mind leads you, just as long as there is masturbation in your story.

Remember for this and any challenge we have at skewedbelievers, you may write Jack paired with any of his ladies. IE Jack/Sam, Jack/Frannie, Jack/Grace, and Jack/Sharon or in this case Jack thinking about any of his ladies and vice versa. This challenge will run through midnight on June 6, 2008 when a new challenge will be issued. So there's over four weeks to try this challenge.
