| The synthetic dream foundation - "Behind the gates of horn and ivory"" |
[24 Apr 2008|07:25pm] |
The synthetic dream foundation has a new album, entitled "Behind the gates of horn and ivory" coming out at the end of this month. The sound clips on their site sound phenomenal. Anyone else had a chance to listen to the sample mp3s yet? I think this is going to be the best TSDF album yet.

| An old fashioned Picnic |
[23 Apr 2008|05:47pm] |
Not one for the cybers or industial types, but for those of you of a more traditional leaning, I thought you might want to be aware of this:

Particularly, the upcoming events.
Hope to see you around chaps.

| Anyone looking for cheap transport to whitby? |
[27 Mar 2008|11:51am] |
I have a couple of places left on the a minibus going to Whitby - train station to train station to make things easy - leaving lunch on 23rd and returning at 2pm on 30th. Aproximately £24 (£12 one way) but this will go down if more people join us. We're keeping some seats clear for luggage so there'll be plenty of space for frocks.
The minibus driver has also said he's OK with dogs - we have one coming already so probably have room one more.

| To The Moon |
[18 Mar 2008|05:38pm] |
Okay okay yes so I post and vanish then post and vanish again ,.... I think it's called work and stuff taking over from the fun things .. hopefully things will calm down a bit more now ...
So in an attempt to stop being anti social and as I posted this weeks ago ...
WHO WANTS TO GO TO THE MOON ON FRIDAY?
This weekend is the real ale festival at The Moon, just off Langsett Road 2 mins from the tram stop and at the back of the 24 hour Tesco. Runs daily til 11pm. 50+9 real ales, plus 10+ Abbeydale brews. Live music Friday and Saturday night. ADMISSION FREE!
So I propose that the SheffGoths mob invade the pub from about 5pm Easter Friday til the last one is standing or the last Tram or Bus is about to depart to your homestead.
Who is going to join Jean and Me there from about 5pm onwards on Friday then?.
flooks if you were still interested in coming over give us a shout as we'll need to relocate a couple of boxes or so in the spare room!

| Free Gig - Dyonisis & Cobwebs - March 5th |
[26 Feb 2008|04:50pm] |
Due to Batfink's continuing hiatus, we've decided to stage another Goth gig at our weekly Dead Nightclub Night event at The Dove & Rainbow, Hartshead Square on March 5th, 8pm onwards.
Free entry!
Tradtastic locals Dyonisis will be first on stage to make a pre-WGW appearance followed by the Gothic Rock sound of Cobwebs (I do hope they do their fab cover of Prime Mover again!) with our usual DJ mix of goth, rock, punk and alternative hits of yesteryear scattered throughout the evening.

| The ultimate Glam Rock ceilidh |
[21 Feb 2008|03:49pm] |
The ultimate glam rock ceilidh will be happening next Friday, 29th Feb 8.30 to midnight, in the Octagon at Sheffield University.
The Band: The Glorystrokes
Possibly the world's only traditional English metalcore dance band, GloryStrokes bring together some well known names from the UK folk dance scene with a cataclysmic dash through their skeleton-riddled musical closets. Take two melodeons, add double kick drums, detuned guitars, beats, samples and weird keyboard noises and you're left with traditional music as it hasn't been heard before, bridging the barrier from barn dance to mosh pit. Cost: £5/£4 (This will get you into a late night roots groove taking place after the ceilidh as well, going on to 1.30am) This event is part of the national student & youth folk festival, which is happening all weekend. See the Ceilidh soc IVFDF web site for more information.

| Hello! |
[03 Jan 2008|04:56am] |
Hi, I'm Joy, and I'm moving up to Sheffield in a couple of days to do a PhD. I have lived in Sheffield before, but only for a few months back in 2004, so I'm a bit behind with things socially! I wondered if any of you could recommend good goth, electro, dark/80s indie or fetish nights in the city? I know the main goth nights, Corporation and Batfink (if it's still open), but I'd also like to check out any newer club nights that have sprung up since I was last here! I'm keen to hear about any daytime meet-ups too.
Anyway, I should be lurking in a club near you very shortly, so feel free to add me on LJ if you like! I know my LJ is friends-only but hopefully you'll be able decide from my profile whether or not I'm a crashing bore ;)

| Clothes for sale |
[28 Dec 2007|02:57pm] |
Got Christmas money to spend on clothes? I've got some stuff listed on ebay - skirts, tops & dresses in sizes 10-20. Prices start at 99p and the auction ends in 7 days, but everything has a buy-it-now price and if you want something for new year I'd be more than happy for you to pick it up over the weekend.
The listings are here
Here are a couple of pics just to give you a general idea...there's more than this up for sale, including a couple of worksafe but cool shirts, a shiny red jacket, a blue minidress, a red sparkly sleeveless top, a marvellously sparkly 70s style silver dress, and a long white lacy skirt (100% cotton so dyeable to any colour that takes your fancy!).
Turquoise/blue fishtail skirt size 16-20 (elasticated waist, but hangs better when more stretched)

Shimmery red babydoll minidress, size 12

Heavy black velvet vintage ankle-length skirt, size 10-12

Red boho top with silver embroidery, size 14-16

| DJ Geoff (Wendyhouse / Mut8) @ Corp NYE |
[17 Dec 2007|03:52pm] |
DJ Geoff (Wendyhouse / Mut8) @ Corporation New Year's Eve
Corp NYE Big Bash £10 adv, Age 18+, Doors 9.30pm until late....
To bring in the New Year Corp is having a Big Bash, throwing in all the best bits of Corp into a big party pot for everyone. Downstairs has the usual Alt / Rock / Metal / Glam nonsense, but this being Shefgoth I'm going to tell you mostly about the Gothy stuff.....
Upstairs (Room 2) will be in the hands of regular goth DJ Garybaldi (SyN) and Special Guest DJ Geoff (Wendyhouse / Mut8). It's NYE, it's party time so they will be playing all your regular SyN favorites plus going beyond to some forgotten favorite retro Punk and Goth tunes with a sprinkling of festive fun. DJ Geoff will bring an outside take on the usual SyN beepyness and firing off some of the latest tracks.
Tickets £10 Adv, more on the door. Jacks Records is the cheapest place to buy tickets because they only have a 50p booking fee (this is a good tip for all Corp gigs, and gigs at many other Sheffield venues).

[13 Dec 2007|05:24pm] |
VNV NATION - AFTERSHOW PARTY Until 4AM!
@Corporation, Sat 15th December, Age 18+
SyN, Corporation's regular goth night is hosting a VNV Nation aftershow party this Saturday. We're open 'till around 4am assuming you don't all bugger off after the gig. But why would you? We've got quality tuneage from Garybaldi and L8N and the band will be sticking around for drinks, so this is your chance to really meet them and get merry at the same time.
How To Meet The Band.
It's easy-peasy really. You can either come along to the regular Corp club night at regular prices (£5 max, check www.corporation.org.uk for discounts etc...), or you can use your VNV Nation Gig tickets to stay through for free. Then after the gig join the band upstairs in the SyN room.

| Selene Rising! |
[27 Nov 2007|08:20pm] |

Not long now till Selene Rising! Saturday the 8th of December at The Moon
The venue has confirmed that it will be open till 1am, so loads of time for tunes after the bands have finished.
We've got The Way Of All Flesh and Dyonisis playing as well as the Batfink crew helping out with choons. Nightingale Audio Systems are providing a 2k rig for the event and lights as well.
