Hello, folks...
I've gotten a couple of messages from friends telling me that the Friends Only banner I posted here waaaaay back when (it took me forever to find that entry & fix the photo!) wasn't showing up anymore, and I realized it had vanished from my userinfo and F.O. entry as well; as it turns out, the host (GJ) ate it, and I was afraid it was lost forever. But I finally managed to find the original on my old hard drive & have switched it to Photobucket, so I thought I'd re-post it here for anyone else who'd liked it and had wanted to save it!
FRIENDS ONLY BANNER: A little red sharpie goes a long way.

Credit's nice, but most important: save it, just in case! :)

Hey guys.
I've pretty much been the worst community owner lately, my apologies.
I wanted to drop in and let you guys know that this is my new lj username. I'm always looking for more interesting friends, so please feel free to add me and I'll return the favor.
Anyone see Maggie's new photos from her Agent Provocateur campaign? Gorgeous!

| The Lifestyle |
[02 Sep 2007|06:27pm] |
A little about myself. Since watching this movie about 3 years ago, I've found my way into discovering more and more about the BDSM lifestyle. For me, part of this journey was indeed this movie, as it had an effect that probably wasn't realized when I saw it the first time. For the first time I saw a BDSM relationship that was loving, and was a positive thing for the participants. It intrigued me, and a little spark went in my mind that really couldn't go away. Though it probably wasn't the only thing that got me into the lifestyle, I find that it's definetly something I hold as a moment in my life where I found something mysterious and exciting.
I guess my whole point in saying this is that I wonder if anyone on here has experienced sort of the same thing/feeling after seeing the movie... If maybe something awakened that said that maybe a BDSM relationship could be as loving as any other. Or if not BDSM, has it played a part in your own sexual journey?

Hey all... I'm new to this whole livejournal business, but I do have a fanfic I've started that I'd like to share. I only have the one chapter up so far, but I do plan to continue writing more. especially when i get back to uni and have endless amounts of time to procrastinate :) (if this cut doesn't work, just go here on fanfiction.net: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3609457/1/Broken_Hallelujah )

| Just curious... |
[04 Jul 2007|11:49pm] |
Have any of you seen the newest of his movies yet? Fur: an imaginary portrait of Diane Arbus is quite interesting. Very obviously the same writer and director, and the cinematography is just wonderful. They took a very Alice in Wonderland approach to the film, and it's really really lovely.
Just curious to get some thoughts from other people who have seen it. So far I'm the only one I know who has.

Ok, here goes.
In an attempt to drum up some conversation in here, which do you guys prefer: Gaitskill's story or Shainberg's film?
Or do you like a mixture of the two... ?
Oh, and you can find Gaitskill's secretary here if you want to read it.

So, ok, I know this community is almost dead but I thought I'd post this little silly fanfic that I forgot I wrote right after I saw the movie for the first time. It's not very long and certainly isn't very deep. Doesn't really delve into either one of the main characters' psyches, but I thought I'd share it anyway since I know a lot of yous guys were looking for some Secretary fanfiction (as lame as it may be).
Hope you like it!

| Pictures? |
[09 Jun 2007|02:16pm] |

I have been looking for a good picture of the part in the movie where Lee is submerged at the bottom of her pool, close to the end of the movie? I looked on maggie-gyllenhaal.net but the only pic of it is too dark and cannot really be fixed... Any ideas? Is there a way to get a still if I watch it on my computer, do you think? Thanks.

Hello all. I just watched the movie yesterday, bought it last night, and watched it two more times today. Needless to say, I'm in love with this film. Anyway, just had a few small questions about it and was wondering what you guys thought...
In the scene where Edward is watching Lee through the window after he has ordered her to keep her hand on the desk, he calls Peter. My question is, what was that piece of paper he pulled out of his pocket that had Peter's number on it? I was wondering...do you think it was a wedding announcement in the paper? It looked very much like a newspaper square he was holding there, which means he found in the paper, cut it out, and had it in his pocket the whole time. Think I'm just looking too much into it? 'Cause if not, that little detail makes me very happy.
Why is it, do you think, that Edward takes out his red pen when he sees Lee and Peter together for the first time?
Sorry if these have been asked before, just wondering...

| FIC: Five Things That Never Happen to Lee Holloway |
[22 Mar 2007|10:42pm] |
Her knees tremble in her plaid skirt. She likes it high-cut, so they can see the scars are healing. That she's healing. The group is taking turns and announcing their plans once they leave the hospital. Lee shrugs.
Five Things That Never Happen to Lee Holloway
A tiny bit of kink, I guess. I tried to stay with the theme of the movie.

I recently showed Secretary for a film club I'm involved in at my school. I was amazed at how many people came and the fact that everyone seemed to like it (no one left in a huff or anything--though some girls did squeal "ewww!" when Lee pees herself in the wedding dress). I've actually never watched it with a big audience before and it was a lot of fun because with a big group of people the funny parts are actually funnier since everyone is laughing. And the fact that people were laughing diminished any tension there would have been during the more "controversial" scenes.
Speaking of controversy, my friend who is the president of the club was going to put fliers up around campus to promote the movie and she wanted to use the poster of the woman bending over with "Secretary" printed on her ass. When she went to the Office of Student Affairs to get the fliers approved, they refused to let her put them up, saying the poster was "obscene" (this is a college campus, mind you). So she ended up putting up a very plain flyer. But we got the last laugh anyway when a ton of people came to the showing (in which you actually see more than just a woman's ass).
