Replies lose formatting

I hope someone can figure out what I did wrong here. I've been tweaking this layout for glitches for ages, but this last one is driving me nuts.

From my front page, everything looks fine. If you click on the "Link" for entries, the formatting is still fine. It's in the comments that the formatting screws up.

1. From the front page, if you try enter the comment screen from the "Leave a comment" link, it loads the page sans formatting on the entry and comment sections (meaning the margins are gone on the entries, as is the border around the entry image).

2. The second problem isn't so much a loss in format, but an issue with placement. If you visit the entry page and then click on "Leave a comment", the comment box pops up directly to the right of the list of entry links.

When I first loaded the theme layer, I didn't have these two issues. It's only since I've done a few minor tweaks to fix problems with page width on the entries and such.

Is this a browser compatibility error? Did I miss a section for adjusting formatting on comment replies?

Any ideas on how to fix this one would be much appreciated.

Note: I found fixes similar to what I'm looking for here and here, but neither of these seem to work for what I need. I haven't actually overwritten anything. I added a random quote generator for the custom text box, but that's about it other than my CSS for the layout.

Problems fixed - thank you!!!

Hey! First off, thanks so much for this. I've been at my wit's end trying to figure this out.

I'm attempting to get a style something like Robins @ IJ, where the username and time are morphed up into the date/subject line. [info]gossymer managed to get the username up onto her datestamp, and I've seen that you had the timestamp up by the subject. Is there any way to do both?

(The layout is going to be for a paid account over on IJ, but there was no activity reasonably close on that comm, so I figured I would ask here.)

Thanks again!

Never mind. I got it. At least in theory. It still has to be styled to Heck and back, but functionally, it's there! Yay.

width & text questions

Help meee...

This is my first time coding a layout and I'm trying to keep it really simple. I had a lot of CSS experience a few years ago but have probably forgotten some or all of it. I've read tutorials and looked for answers. Here are my two unanswered questions: questions answered! thank you!

container width )

text question )

I'm sorry if these questions are simple and amateurish, but I've been arguing with the code for like, four hours now and it's driving me bonkers. Mostly because it's making me feel stupid.

Thanks.

Random Headers ?

A while ago for the Expressive style I found this coding for the Random Header Image  and it worked perfectly...

I want to translate the layout I made into Bloggish ... And I would like to keep this feature. I'm pretty sure I saw a bit of a code out there doing the same (not a script) a real S2 Theme layer coding, but in the name of .... I can't seem to find it.

If anyone, has a good soul ...

Thanks.

LiveJournal layout help ....

I'm not sure if this is the correct community to be posting my question to, so please forgive me if I am wrong.

My coding skills are very rusty and the LJ CSS is somewhat foreign to me. I really like the layout I have (Tabular Indent by Steve Freeman), but is there anyway to hide/remove the "View: Archive," "View: Friends," "View: User Info," and "View: Website" links from the top navigation box?? I am having a problem with a cyber stalker looking at my site. This person is not very bright and quite lazy. If I can hide the links from the navigation box then I'm pretty sure I'll be safe, and that's the only way I can think of to keep them from going to my archives or reading my friends' page. Any help or advise in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Rotate header image?

I saw the code someone posted for a random quote generator in the custom text area. I'm curious though, is it possible to do something like that with different banners for the header image?

The Reply Page

Please help - this is driving me CRAZY.

I'm using Bloggish, a theme layer, and it's all looking great, except when you click "Leave A Comment", the page that's displayed is in a layout I just can't seem to alter!!!

How do you alter the look of your entry on the Reply page, while the reply is being typed?

Thank you!!!

White boxes around icons/usernames & Text overlap issue

Hi gang,
I was determined to make the switch to bloggish without asking for help in the code, but alas here I am. I have a permanent account and can work with theme layprs, but prefer CSS as i'm more familiar with it. I've been using Frankenblog as my base and have customized it 90 percent of the way I want it. One problem I think is a layout bug and the other, well...

screen cap )

Ok the issues.
1. the text of the entry wraps under the block layout of the user name and community - or just the user name. How do i get that to not happen. Needless to say it impairs readability - not to mention look.

2. There is that white box around the icon and part of the user names. Often the user name extends outside the white box if the user or feed does not have an LJ icon. It looks AWFUL. Can I make that box go away so that the account name and userpic aren't over the yucky rigid white? I've tried custom friends colors thinking that might be what it is, but it's not.

I got pretty good at coding expressive, but these aspects of this particular bloggesh base theme are really bugging me.

Thanks for the help.

Dates, comment bar, usernames

For http://community.livejournal.com/debut2009/

-I've done something similar in Expressive, and tried to follow a few tutorials to do this in Bloggish, but it hasn't gone so hot. I'd like to remove the date (and posted by date) on all entries made before 1981, so I can have something like content pages in the community I run. Help!

-I've removed a few links from the comment bar, but I can't seem to get rid of the extra separators that were associated with those links. I'd also like to center the links in the comment bar, but can't quite figure out how.

-Is there a way to remove the "username IN debut2009" from the top of entries? For example: http://community.livejournal.com/debut2009/20267.html -- I hate how the "megancrewe in debut2009" takes up so much space and doesn't serve much of a purpose.

Thanks, and I apologize if these are in tutorials somewhere that I've just missed!

Tags in Bloggish

I know this is a small things to ask, but is it possible for the Bloggish theme to have tags similar to the Expressive theme? Or is it an entirely different system altogether? I would like my tags to be organised in that way.

Links and Comments

I'm pretty new with the Livejournal Layouts. So far in, I've gotten the layout in some order, but there are major complications with entries, userpics and the sidebar. I don't know what to do anymore with my layout as is. Every time I tinker with it, I'm afraid I'll make things worse.

Basically, it's all about positioning these elements. My entries are practically everywhere and my userpics seem to be pushed towards the bottome of the page. The sidebar is an issue regarding placement inside the sidebar. I want it to be centered, while I want to get tht entries staying to one side and in order.

I just want to get the layout looking normal.

I've fixed up most of the things on my layout after two days of trifling through code. But now, I've found more specific problems to work with. They are:

1. Moving the navigational links on top of the sidebar and entries. (Where the banner should be - a horizontal strip across the layout).

2. Finding the codes for the commenting page (the page where people would normally comment on your entries. It's not formatted to the rest of the layout.)

Here's the code I'm working with (please keep in mind that I've been working from a CSS template on one of LJ's default layouts) based off of the Bloggish layout:

EDIT: New CSS (a more cleaner version)

Shout out to [info]anti_aol for pointing out a few bugs in my layout!!

And I'm on a Plus Account...

Thanks to anyone who can figure out my new problem areas. I'm still a newb!! ...after all.

Ianto -- angsty

[info]angstyteaboy

Okay, my journal is doing something really strange and I'm not sure how to fix it. If you take a look at <lj user="angstyteaboy">, you can see what I'm talking about without me making a poor attempt at describing the problem. What I was trying to do is put in a custom header image, make everything fit the width of the page (and preferably the height as well), and possibly put in custom colors as I'm not fond of the colors that Folio comes with. The purple is the only thing I was able to get in and even that doesn't look quite right.

So my questions are:
How do I center the header image?
How do I fix the layout so it fills the width and height of the page instead of what the default shows?
<i>and</i>
How do I give the layout custom colors instead of the default Folio colors, if that's possible?

I know it sounds like a lot, but I'm still very new to S2 styles and I'm trying to figure everything out.

Mini Icons?

Hi All,

I had the following code in my CSS to change the mini-icons to custom pictures:

code here )

Up until about a week ago, the code was working, but now in FF (and IE, still) I see the default icons. Is there something from the CSS that's missing? Or is the CSS different for Bloggish?

Background images for container, pagebody etc.

I am doing a new layout for [info]hd_holidays and you can see what's been done over here

I've hit a snage though in adding background images - I've tried adding images to #container, #container-inner, #pagebody, #page-body-inner...but absolutely nothing shows up!

My codes are located here

Could anyone tell me how to add in images to those parts of the layout? Any help would be appreciated so much ;__;

Three questions about comments and images

I promise, I read all the easily available tutorials to avoid unnecessary questions. :)

OK, my first question concerns the flagging tool. I followed [info]carriep63's great tutorial on how to change comment links into images. However, this was long written before LJ came up with the flagging tool. I tried to remove it in the stylesheet and when that failed I tried to change it into an image in the theme layer, which failed as well. Thus posts on my friends page look like this:
Help would be appreciated.

Change the location of the tags

I've hunted around in a number of communities, including the tagged/archived entries of this community and [info]s2bloggish, but I've had no luck. Is there any way to change the location of the tags from the bottom of the entry content to the top, perhaps with the metadata?

I don't really use the Location metadata that often, but I do use mood, music, and tags, and I'd like to have them all at the top, one on each line, with my mood icon floating to the left. I've already accomplished the mood icon floating to the left bit, but the rest is a mystery to me. There doesn't seem to be any way to change it in the regular Customize area, or by tweaking the Theme Layer or CSS I use.

Is it even possible? Any help would be appreciated.

[Paid] Tutorial: How to turn any S2 Bloggish entry into a Sticky Post.

My past experiments show Sticky Post functionality is limited in s2 Expressive and missing altogether in s2 Bloggish. Another user, [info]watchmebe, was in a similar way recently. She wanted to make a Sticky Post for her s2 Expressive style by simply removing the date on one entry that already works as a static content page for her. I thought the idea was brilliant, so I asked [info]av8rmike, the person who helped her, if he would give me the Bloggish code. That question made my post in s2 Expressive off-topic, so I had to move it. Ultimately [info]wrin answered it because [info]av8rmike was too busy chasing the ladies (edit: but he denied this; later on he even said he wished that was the reason). So in this roundabout way I came to get the code to create a Sticky Post in Bloggish.
