Hello South fans! While the band is taking a holiday break before heading back into the studio (rumour has it they will be releasing more material this year), they are offering fans what may very well end up being a regular thing - Podcasts! Friend of the band, Ascher Nathan, has put together a podcast with the boys and it is now offered up on the official site, South.uk.net.

There will soon be the option to subscribe to new 'casts.

You'll see a new tab on the site's menu - PODCAST - click there and enjoy :)

Hello there South fans! I've not been too good with recent South news, but I will say I've heard some great first hand accounts of the recent show in Tokyo, and the guys have a few more shows in the London area before taking some time off for the Holidays.

From the official sources itself comes the news that South will be on BBC Radio 2 this Friday, December 9th on Dermot O'Leary's show from 5pm. UK listeners can tune in to 88-91FM, or you can listen live online here :

[info]loria: South to open for Strokes in the US in October, news of LIVE DVD/LIVE CD with two new tracks.

"Fans of South should mark down October 10 on their calendars. On that day the band will be releasing a limited edition DVD/CD package that will contain live concert footage from their recent tour with Margot & The Nuclear So And So's. The DVD will also have info on behind the scenes, three acoustic tunes from Virgin Digital Radio, an iTunes session, music videos and a whole slew of other goodies. The CD portion also has two brand new songs, "Something & Nothing" and "Autumn Morning."

Below are the track listings and a sample of the Peter Hook approved "Bizarre Love Triangle," which will be on the DVD and features both bands playing together. When people asked Hooky what he thought of the cover he stated, "Sounds like an electronic Stockholm Monsters...interesting! But it's no wonder they're called South 'cause they're a bunch of Jessie's for keeping the bass off!" Not too shabby considering this guy typically doesn't like much."

I'm sorry I didn't let you all know about this earlier, but SOuth was in studio guest at Seattle's KEXP yesterday, Saturday April 22. Thankfully, KEXP is a fantastic station that allows for virtually all their programming to be streamed on the internet as well as stored for a good amount of time, so you can all listen in. Thanks to tuma at the livebetweenthelines.com messageboard, the details are as follows:

KEXP's Streaming Archive
http://www.kexp.org/streamarchive/streamarchive.asp
[ Listen by time :Enter the day "Sat,Apr.22,2006" and time "1:10 pm" ]

Playlist is...

1:10 -South-
1:11 A Place in Displacement
1:15 Safety In Numbers
1:25 Up Close and Personal
1:28 Shallow
1:33 Paint the Silence

It's a nice live set with all five of the touring members and lots of silliness in studio. Unfortunately they don't mention the snowstorm they got caught in, which would have been interesting to hear about.

I'm not quite sure I like it, its not really how I personally visualised the song. Any thoughts?

[info]bluebythebook: anyone have a snow plow??

from the message board:

Hi guys!

Thank you all for your support on this tour, we have had such a great time and feel we have played some of the best shows of our career!!!
Unfortunately we are now stuck in the worst snow storm any of us have ever witnessed!!
We are on the boarder of South Dakota and Wyoming in a motel and we are going no where tonight, the cabin fever has truely set in and all we have to do is play cards with thegirl on reception! The power keeps cutting out and its as if we're the punch line to a terrible joke!!!
What this means is we have no chance of getting to Vancouver for the gig on Thursday night and we are going to head stright to Portland tomorrow morning (we hope)!
We are very sorry to the people who were looking forward to seeing us in Vancouver, believe me we soo wanna be there!!! But there is nothing we can do, we have no food and only one bottle of Red Wine to get us though the night!!!
If anyone is in the local area and owns a snow plow, please can they bring us a care package with food and booze, we are desperate.
Route 90, exit 30!!

A MASSIVE THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT ON THIS TOUR, WE COULDN'T DO IT WITHOUT YOU GUYS, WE'VE HAD SUCH A BLAST AND ITS NOT OVER YET!!!
AND FOR ALL THE PEOPLE ON THE WEST COAST, WE ARE COMING FOR YOU, WE CAN'T WAIT!!!!

- Joel

So, the Vancouver gig is cancelled, and possibly Portland if the band is still snowed in this motel. I wonder if I could FedEx a care package to them...

[info]meallanstorm: My first South Concert...

Loria dragged me to see South in Ann Arbor, after giving me a primer. And I must say that I do enjoy their music and I think JAMIE IS THE CUTEST!!! My favorite song of theirs is "you are one" and I was SO happy when I heard Jamie sing it.

I'm seeing them at the Vogue in Indy tonight. With the Fab Loria!
