New E6 Album [18 Oct 2007|12:00pm]

I've heard a preview of all the tracks on the new album, I think this one is going to take a while to grow on me. I prefer blatant synthgasms to guitar solos. However I freely admit 'Feed My Habit' really is just sex on a plate.....

[ music | ...Exterminate... by Electric Six ]

Holy shit, guys. They did it AGAIN. Another amazing album. Not only do they rhyme "shinola" with "granola," they rock ass with the fires of Hell as usual. My favorite band of all-time, Electric Six yet again prove their righteousness in the sea of rock.

Stay tuned for my synopsis/review of the album's sixteen(16) tracks!

The show at the Middle East last Wednesday was awesome. The best part, however, was that Dick Valentine's fly was unzipped! My friend and I were totally staring at his crotch for the ENTIRE SHOW!

Salutations, Comrades [01 Mar 2007|05:46pm]

[ music | "Yes my legs are long, yes they're very very long" ]

I just found this E6 LJ group and I had to join. I fucking LOVE Electric Six. They are my favorite band of all time, and I one day aspire to have a kick ass E6 tattoo somewhere. I'm up for making friends and chatting about E6 or anything really. I'm mad into Hunter S. Thompson and Adult Swim if anyone is interested in waxing on about those things.

I can't wait to see the E6 in Providence and then the next night in Boston. Any fans from the Southeastern New England area, hit me up. I'd love to chat.

E6 foreva' Seacrest!

Quickly put this together for my brother's birthday (long story, there). I realize it could be synched much better in some areas, but I think the places it does synch well more than makes up for that. When I have some time to spare, I will try to make it perfect. ;)

Enjoy.

***UPDATE***

I just got my cassette this morning, I haven't had the chance to listen to it yet, but I will as soon as I have time, and I'll rip it onto my computer too :)

I thought you E6-ers may be very very interested in this cassette that I just purchased from ebay.com. I've never seen anything like it for sale. The description of the cassette was as follows: "Rare 9 track 1992 Cassette only Brickyard release. Most of these guys went on to form The Wildbunch and then Electric Six. The common members are: Anthony, Joe & Steve or Wilbunch names: Rock N Roll Indian, Surge Joebot & Disco."

Does anyone have any information at all?

Hello, something is bugging me!

First off, Electric 6 kicks ass wooo!

Of course, while being funny, original and talented in the way they do it, like every band they borrow influence from music that came before them. I Invented the Night borrows from Gary Numan... so, what song is Synthesizer borrowing from? I know it but can't name it and it's bugging me!

Wow I had no idea this place existed.

Anyway Electric six is a great band, they've put on a few of the greatest shows ive ever been too. Over the past year ive gotten to know Tait, the keyboardist, who's friendship exposed me to a ton of really amazing detroit area bands. His other band, Ghost City, seems to be taking Detroit by storm. With local legend Stephen Palmer. Myspace.com/ghostcity

Alot of the members of E6 have side bands, including John Nash, who's band "The witches" include not only him, but other local legends,
Troy Greggory, from troy greggory and the step sisters, and Eugene strobe.

His OTHER band its the Nashinal debt:

Electric Six @ Mn Zoo [08 Jul 2006|11:29am]

wilhelminawonka
Electric Six put on a really great show last night at the MN Zoo. Dick was in top form--he was very chatty and all the pushups / dance moves were employed full force, including some new moves straight out of Michael Jackson's "Thriller" video. Which was sort of fitting because the audience might have been dead. At least until some poor DJ introduced the Psychedelic Furs as the Electric Furs. Then they turned a little undead. They were definitely there to see the Psychedelic Furs--not rude, just very unenthusiastic.

Electric Six opened with "Improper Dancing" which I really wasn't ready for. I had snuck down to the front row, but wasn't ready to dance yet, let alone dance improperly. I don't really have any moves, rather just end either jerking my hips uncomfortably or flailing around like Kermit at the beginning of the Muppet Show. Still after a song or two I couldn't control myself anymore. In reality I was probably barely twitching, but to me I was dancing. At the very least I was standing up.

Valentine explained that they had been "hand-picked" by the Psychedelic Furs to open for them and how this was a "tremendous opportunity" for them. He mentioned the Replacements and Soul Asylum, then I just about died when he said it's good to be here in Minnesota, Apple Valley, off of Johnny Cake Road--after the show we're going to purify ourselves in the water of Lake Minnetonka.

Electric Six

After wowing the suburbanites witih "Naked Pictures (of your mother)" and a new song about changing your gender midlife, Valentine treated us to an anti-Bush (BUUUUUUSSSSSSHHHHH! ) rant before "Rock and Roll Evacuation" in which he painted a future world of Bushes for us: Jeb Bush, then some other Bush, years later spermatozoa Bush. Maybe even one of us ladies could carry a Bush someday, he suggested... then he screamed something along the lines of "Can you imagine if Gore was president right now? We'd all be speaking freaking Arabic!!!! " and keeled over. It was brilliant. This was pretty much met with the same blank stares that the entire show got. So, he said that politics weren't funny, not unless you were from Minnesota and had elected a professional wrestler governor. Touche.

After their set the band pretty much vanished. I guess I can't blame them. The Psychedelic Furs were really old. They made me wonder what I would be doing 25 years from now, in a bad way. And they wore lots of black to match their dyed hair. We stayed for four or five songs at which point I swear I had heard one twice so we took off.

I took a few photos, but they didn't really turn out. I was too excited to hold the camera still so they're all blurry.

Set List (not in order):
Improper Dancing
Danger High Voltage
Naked Pictures (of Your Mother)
Synthesizer
?New Song?
Gay Bar
Devil Nights
Future Boys
Future is In the Future
Rock and Roll Evacuation
Dance Commander

Music Video! [02 Jul 2006|11:55am]

[ mood | Full of Cheer ]
[ music | I Buy the Drugs (it won't get out of my head!) ]

Wow, so this community is rarely updated, even though there is much buzz about Switzerland....oh well.

So yesterday was the video shoot for "I Buy the Drugs." I was there as an extra. What follows is a fairly ridiculously detailed play-by-play. They were going for a frat-party kind of feel for it.

Outside of the Frat House (it was actually a frat house for Wayne State University in Detroit) was a set up of moniters and that sort of thing. We parked the van, and walked up. And stood on the lawn waiting. We heard them do a take inside the house. They were definitely using canned music, but I know P.World was actually drumming. I'm not sure as to the other guys, they had all of the equiptment, but I couldn't tell whether the amps were on or not.

Then they asked for twelve guys. They needed them to remove their shirts. Each guy was painted with a letter from "Electric Six." One guy was the space with a lightning bolt painted on his chest. A good portion of these guys actually lived in the house. My boyfriend was the "I" in "Six." Then they asked for all the ladies to come inside. We were in a typical Frat living room, with all the furniture shoved to the sides. The band was set up towards the back. They had all of us mingle in with the band. I was right next to the Colonel's microphone, and he warned us that he might need to use it. Okay. Dick Valentine was wearing a gray suit and horn-rimmed glasses. They told us to each grab a balloon and throw them at the beginning and keep them moving during the shoot. They had a single camera that kind of moved around. They also had five or six girls dressed kind of like cheerleaders, with modified periwinkle Electric Six shirts, black skirts, Converse high tops, and they carried little purple pom-poms. They kind of had a routine around Dick. During the take, one of the cheerleader's skirt came off. Oh well. We then all went back outside.

Then they filmed the Frat guys passing a keg around. At some point, Dick changed into blue plaid shorts, a white t-shirt, and burgundy sweater-vest. Very high fashion...

Next, I think, they brought out a huge beer bong. Two stories tall (long?.) The cheerleaders and Dequindre and Na$hinal stood on the balcony to man the beer bong. P. World went first. They only poured, I think, one or two beers into it. It was mostly foam (ick.) Then Tait went, and ended up spilling beer all over himself (probably partially to cool off, it was hot yesterday.) Then Dick went. I seem to remember that we all stood in front of him chanting "Dick! Dick! Dick!" at this point, but I can't be sure whether that came later. Anyway, he did the beer bong, and sprayed it at the audience. The crowd goes wild.

They did a take or two of the band on the porch of the frat. Then they had the extras line up on either side of the lawn, and had us go across in small groups. Not sure how that turned out. It was kind of strange. Did three or four takes of that, at least. Then they had the extras dance around in the middle of the lawn a bit, while the frat guys held Dick Valentine aloft. A couple takes of that.

At some point, they shot The Colonel doing a keg stand, lol. That was damn funny to watch.

They then shot a big group scene on the lawn. They told us that it was a wrap for everyone except Dick. I saw them moving in a green screen, so I am curious as to what that will be like. In total, the shoot took about 3.5 hours and was a lot of fun. A lot of waiting around in the heat, but a lot of fun. Of course, on set, the crew was using the guys' real names.

I'm eager to know when the video will be released. It was really cool to have a video with all of the band members, not just Dick. I can't wait to see how it turns out! (Good, I hope...) Even if I don't actually make it into the video, the experience alone was well worth it.

I thought y'all might want to know...

Tonight on internet radio station http://www.riff2.com/ Tait? Nucleus of Electric Six will be hosting the local (Detroit) music show from 10-midnight Eastern time zone.

Rumor has it that he will spin a couple tracks from Switzerland (the upcoming release from Electric Six due this autumn) as well as some new Na$hinal Debt (Johnny Na$hinal's solo project) and Ghost City (Tait's side project)
I know I'll be tuning in!
