If the rest of the crew were given their Earth birthdays / Earth astrological signs (they obviously weren't born under them, but perhaps converted to them), what do you think they'd be? Hi and Fics? [08 Sep 2008|01:31pm] solitaryjane [ mood | hopeful ] Hello. Definite newbie here since I didn't know of this community's existence until today, and I'm ever glad that LJ has one! I watched Space Cases when I was probably 12 - don't quite remember - and I'm still obsessed with two of its characters - Catalina and Radu - to this day. I stopped watching the show after Cat left, so I don't know much about season 2 except this one episode where they all switched races and I thought Radu's much hotter without his ears and hair. XD So does anyone know if there's any fic of Cat and Radu out there? Everything I've glimpsed so far are either Radu/Elmira, Harlan/Cat, or it's slash (which was scary and amusing at the same time). Hope [08 Sep 2008|08:35am] sasa_kun I looked through the copyright office website for the record for space cases. I've located and looked through all of the entries. Nickelodeon does not have the rights to Space Cases. Cinar/Cookie Jar does. I don't know if Cookie Jar is in the shadow of Nickelodeon, but at this point I'm going to guess it's not. Therefore if there is someone else who wanted to produce Space Cases, they would need to approach Cookie Jar, not Nickelodeon. I found two entries for it that I know are for Space Cases. There's the entry that says it's copyrighted to Cinar, and there's another entry that says it's copyrighted to Space Cases Productions, Inc. Either way, know that it's not in Nickelodeon's hands is good news. Click Me! The entries are 3-6 for Space Cases. 3 and 6 go together and 4 and 5 go together. And yet I saw Alex Mack in the store in Canada a week ago... -_-; We're up to 515 signatures now, a good handful more from when I sent it in at 490. I checked it out on a whim, and was also very surprised and happy to see the signatures of two fellow supporters: Walter Jones and Paul Boretski. ♥ Thanks, and rock on! virtual season project [24 Jul 2008|08:14pm] telegramsam I think we've got some takers on this project, so how do we want to proceed with this thing? First and foremost, we need to be able to communicate with each other. Do we want to set up a message board, use this community, or exchange AIM screen names, or what? Or all of the above? I don't want to hijack this community if the mods aren't going to like it, and it might irritate people who aren't involved in it. ETA: valiant and arinye suggested making another livejournal community to run this show, and I don't think it's a bad idea. I'll put one together and post it here and then we can sort out the modding duties and various roles once everyone's joined up. Space Cases: Season 3, Virtual Style! [20 Jul 2008|04:20pm] telegramsam [ mood | bouncy ] I've brought up this subject a couple times in the comments on other threads, but didn't get too much feedback, so I'm posting it now. I've noticed there are are plenty of talented writers and artists in this community, so I've got a proposal for the community: Why don't we write season 3? I think we can all agree that Space Cases was chopped too soon and that Nickelodeon really stifled it in the second season anyway. See here if you don't quite know what the heck I'm talking about: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glossary_of_fan_fiction_terms#Virtual_seasons I know of virtual seasons that have been done for several of the Star Trek franchises, the X-Files and Millenium, Xena: Warrior Princess, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Google can find them for you if you want to look over them. Obviously we need to decide a few things up front, such as: Who wants to participate? How many episodes do we want to write? (S.C. was 13 eps each season on Nick I think but we don't have to do the same thing) Do we want to do them in a novelization style or in a script style or some mix of both (hell we could throw in a comic book if we want, I know at least one person here is very good at them :P)? How many writers do we want working on each episode? What kind of subject material do we want to address and how do we want to develop each character? Do we want any over-arching story lines or common themes linking the episodes together? There's plenty more we can do - I know we've got good artists as well as writers, so there's room for illustrators in this game as well. Also if we decide to do this, it would be a good time to bug any fan writers you're acquainted with who aren't in this community who might be interested in participating. We also might want to set up a separate website or messageboard to archive this stuff, so if anybody here has got some HTML kung-fu skills they're hiding, there's a place for you too. Now before we all jump into this keep in mind that's not the kind of thing you can cobble together in a week, it would be a long-term project we could all work on a bit at a time; one nice thing about it being a "fan" season is no deadlines! Well, it's just an idea anyway, I'm just posting this to see what kind of interest there might be. ETA: Obviously this is aimed mostly at fanfic writers and such, but even if you've never written anything before, DON'T let that discourage you from joining in if you want to, this will be a joint effort so everyone's input can be used and it can be a good place for you to develop your writing skills. 37 comments|post comment

I've loved SC since I saw the series premiere as a kid and lurked about the fandom when it was in its heyday. I had completely forgotten about it 'til about a week ago, and then I went about scouring the internet for everything I could get my grubby little hands on. I'm thrilled that the fandom's still around at all, let alone kinda active. Watching the old episodes dropped me right back into it, I felt like I was twelve again as soon as I heard the theme song. Newbie and Shoreleave 30 [21 Jun 2008|10:59pm] sammymc Hey! I'm a newbie. I was 12 when Space Cases first aired. I was a HUGE fan. I've always had images from the show in the back of my head as I was growing up, but over the years they have kinda faded in my memory. As most of you know, Jewel Staite joined the cast of Stargate Atlantis last year, which is my FAVORITE show NOW. I only recently learned that Dr. Keller on SGA was Catalina on Space Cases. I freaked out. Seeing it listed on her IMDB profile brought back so many memories, and I started searching and found you guys. So now I'm here, and looking to get back into Space Cases. I also wanted to post and let everyone in the DC/MD area of the US know that both Jewel and George Takei are going to be at the Shoreleave 30 scifi convention in Baltimore this July. I'm a big fan of them both and I hope to get both of their autographs this summer when I go to the convention. (I'm currently searching for good Catalina pics to get signed by Jewel) If anyone would like more information please let me know. Title: Up Against a Wall Author: korepersephone (Liz) Pairing: Harlan/Radu Rating: Hard R Word count: 1418 Summary: Harlan and Radu are caught with their pants down. Literally. Notes: I feel vaguely dirty for writing an R rated slash fic to a show that I loved when I was ten but, what's a girl to do when inspiration strikes? Er... I tried to make it NC-17 but I just couldn't manage to use explicit language with these two ;D This idea came from watching a few episodes full of Harlan/Radu UST and thinking, “wouldn't it be hot if...” I was going to request it in the kink meme but decided to write it myself instead. Warnings: This is purely a one shot and a PWP at that. And yes, the title is a good indicator of what this fic contains! Also, implied voyeur!Thelma (but not squicky, I promise!)
