2:34 pm - spreading the word for the Poxy Boggards
|

saw this on my myspace. if you can spread the word im sure they'd appreciate it :)
Boggards Signs Stolen
Hi, everyone.
At some point between closing on Saturday and opening on Sunday, someone stole most of the signs that the Boggards use for our show.
They took:
A one sided "Parental Advisory: We Say F***" sign, approx. 3'x2', design similar to "parental advisory" stickers.
A series of smaller, approx. 2'x1.5' signs, reading "Crap", "Damn", "S**t", "Cock", "Pussy (Meow)" and two signs reading "B**ch".
We're currently willing to believe that this was just a drunken idiocy. It happens. I woke up with a stop sign next to my bed one morning.
I'm personally requesting word be put out that we just want them back. If they're back at the Reef before our first set on Saturday, nothing further needs to be said. Stupid crap happens, life moves on.
If they are not returned, after Saturday at 11 AM I'd request everyone please keep an eye out for the signs and if they are spotted, report the thief to anyone not otherwise busy with a radio. We've filed a report on this with REC, they'll be able to get them back to us.
Please, spread the word.
Thank you,
Lurch

Anyone got any advise on how we can accept credit cards at events with no internet/modem/etc? Where a phone signal is all we'd have?
(Edit: We currently do not have a credit card supplier at all)
Thanks, Dan

I try to post about this community at least once a year to remind everyone who would like to share their Faire photos and/or to look at others', as well as to inform those who haven't been there yet.:)

I know that we have a mix of different types of rennies here on this list, performers, merchants, and patrons (and if you're either lucky or insane, you're all three at once!) so I'm sure in many cases, this is preaching to the choir. However, on the off chance that someone here doesn't know, or is bringing friends along who might not realize, I'm posting this.
I just wanted to state that walking into a merchant's shop, handling the merchandise and then loudly opining that you can make said item cheaper, better, or whatever else at home...is among the MOST INCREDIBLY RUDE AND INSULTING things you can do.
Please, if you think you can make it better, that's awesome - feel free to go home and do it - but keep your mouth shut in public. Common courtesy people.

Hey everyone.
I am not sure if I should post this here. But when I did a search for Princess Bride, this community came up. I figured that since this community deals with Rennisance, that some people may enjoy a video on Princess Bride.
This video tells you everything you need to know about Princess Bride in two minutes. It is set to Daughtry's "IT's Not Over"

Let's Hope I Don't Come Out With Extra Limbs! Visit My Personal Page
On February 23, I'll be taking the (rather hesitant) plunge into wintery waters of the questionably non-toxic Ohio River in Louisville to support Special Olympics Kentucky on behalf of Geek Squad City. Please help me EXCEED my goal by making a donation of any amount. I know we all either have family or know families who benefit from the Special Olympics so please lets help! You could also help by joining me at Waterfront Wharf to tease, taunt, or cheer me on. We'll be at Joe's Crab Shack and gearing up for the chill of our lives! Supposedly we have a costume theme of Saturday morning cartoons...so this ought to be interesting and much fun for a fantastic cause! I appreciate your support! Agent Paulina Sears (aka LUCY BUCKLES!) Geek Squad City SSCIA Costume Contest! So...some of the jumpers have themed teams and people dress in costumes. Apparently our Agent uniforms didn't get much recognition as costumes last year so this year we came up with a real theme : Saturday morning cartoons (any year). Anyone who donates, gets to suggest a costume for me to jump in. If the costume I choose to wear is yours, you will get a special gift from me! Thanks everyone!! Lets get that donation meter RED!!! About Special Olympics Kentucky Special Olympics Kentucky is a non-profit organization that offers year-round athletic training and Olympic-type sport competitions for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. Each year in Kentucky over 6,000 athletes train and compete in any of 17 official sports.

1:35 pm - Tartan Terrors Update :)
|

surlywench
|
As an update to the previous post about this, which is an update from ysobelle, who has been in contact with the band and various other people since we found out what happened earlier this week.
"The Tartan Terrors' Suburban and Haulmark trailer were stolen Sunday afternoon with all their gear inside. While insurance will cover some of it, there's a large portion over which they're screwed. They lost costumes, about 3,000 CDs, instruments, sound equipment, personal items, you name it. They're out about $100,000.00.
Papa Scott and I have been talking both to them and to everyone else, trying to figure out how we can help, and we have a few ideas.
First and foremost, Todd posted over on PARenFaire.net that while they certainly don't expect donations, if anyone is inclined, eterrors(at)yahoo.ca is their PayPal eddress.
Second, we're going to gather up goodies from all the PARF vendors AND ANYONE ELSE WHO'D LIKE TO CONTRIBUTE, and coordinate an auction to be held on the Terrors' website. I'm going to donate a one-of-a-kind Tartan Terrors corset, Papa Scott will be making some hand-turned, exotic-wood TT pen & pencil sets. PARF will be donating some season passes. You get the idea.
I know the .netters are discussing some fundraising ideas, too. I told Ellen that the Wenches want to help, and she was incredibly grateful. I know we can all do some pretty amazing things if we put our heads together.
So if you're a vendor, or just have some really nifty stuff, please consider donating it to the Terrors. You can PM or email me, and I'll start compiling a list. Time is of the essence, as they have a huge show for the Troops coming up on the 16th, and a full schedule after that-- and no equipment or costumes with which to do them.
So that's where things stand now, I just wanted to give ya'll the update. If anyone is interested in helping with the auctions, you can contact ysobelle via her LJ directly, or use the paypal link above for private donations. I'll continue to post the plans as they solidify (in case anyone is wanting to know when bidding is open on the auctions ;). Thanks!!!!

2:09 pm - Tartan Terrors need our help!!!
|

surlywench
|
Okay, for those that don't know, the Tartan Terrors are a band that's based in Canada, but tours the US circut doing a fabulously funny act. Their myspace: http://www.myspace.com/tartanterrors
They recently (like within the last 48 hours) had their truck and trailer with ALL of ther equipment and many, many personal belongings stolen while it was parked outside a store they were in. Here's the update on the situation, and I'll keep posting info as it becomes available on how to help if you're willing/able to do so.
"For everyone who loves the Tartan Terrors! Okay. So I just got off the phone with Ellen, and I got the dirt straight from the Tartan mouth, so to speak.
Everything was in the 'Burb and the trailer. All their equipment. Their recording gear. Their instruments. Ian and Meg's costumes for the History of the Kilt bit. Pete's club. Their pirate coats. About three thousand CDs. And the Christmas gifts they'd bought, including a framed Civil War newspaper Meg'd just won at auction. Most was stolen, some was just burned. The 'Burb was stripped of everything that could be sold-- seats, everything-- then torched, so we're talking chop shop. The Haulmark trailer is just gone. Sequel was dumped by the side of the road, and a very lovely lady happened to find him, take him in, clean off his poor paws, and call the number on his tags.
Ellen said they do have PayPal, and can take credit card donations, but she's not sure of the mechanics thereof yet. Todd's going to try to set that up today.
They do have insurance, but they're loath to use it because they're terrified of how their rates will skyrocket. But they also have a big show coming up, and no gear. I promised them we all want to help. So as soon as they have the means set up, she'll let me know, and hopefully post on the site. And I'll be sure to tell everyone and their cousin.
I also think it's definitely time to start thinking fundraiser. No artist can afford to take a $100,000.00 hit, and this is one of our own.
Please feel free to crosspost this if you think it'll help!"
I'm xposting to NE rennies as well.
