saw this on my myspace. if you can spread the word im sure they'd appreciate it :)
Boggards Signs Stolen
Hi, everyone.
At some point between closing on Saturday and opening on Sunday, someone stole most of the signs that the Boggards use for our show.
They took:
A one sided "Parental Advisory: We Say F***" sign, approx. 3'x2', design similar to "parental advisory" stickers.
A series of smaller, approx. 2'x1.5' signs, reading "Crap", "Damn", "S**t", "Cock", "Pussy (Meow)" and two signs reading "B**ch".
We're currently willing to believe that this was just a drunken idiocy. It happens. I woke up with a stop sign next to my bed one morning.
I'm personally requesting word be put out that we just want them back. If they're back at the Reef before our first set on Saturday, nothing further needs to be said. Stupid crap happens, life moves on.
If they are not returned, after Saturday at 11 AM I'd request everyone please keep an eye out for the signs and if they are spotted, report the thief to anyone not otherwise busy with a radio. We've filed a report on this with REC, they'll be able to get them back to us.
Please, spread the word.
Thank you,
Lurch

| Subject: | Question of garb... |
| Security: | Public |
| Mood: | curious |
Since getting laid off from my day job, I've decided to get to work on some childrens garb for sale on my website and/or eBay.
I'm going to start with some staples: boys pants and basic shirts (t-tunics and Italian Renaissance) and girls chemises.
My question is this, should I go with drawstrings at the waist of the pants and tops and wrists of chemises or use elastic? I know that the drawstrings are historical, but would parents prefer ease of use over authenticity?
The side of me that wants to stick as close as possible to historical authenticity screams to keep the drawstrings, but I know it can be a hassle to parents with small and very active children. Any input on this would be appreciated :)

| Security: | Public |
I'm in the process of searching for a muffin hat/cap pattern...not the historically accurate ones which hold your hair back from your forehead, but the big floppy brimmed ones with at least two different fabrics used in the making of it. I saw a vendor selling them at my local Faire (King Richards), but I didn't see any that I liked the color/fabric of and I felt that they were way over priced...couldn't afford one.:( So It thought I'd make my own.
I did look through google but so far I haven't found anything...mostly I'm finding crochet patters and the like.
I appreciate any helpful links and/or suggestions you might offer.
Thanks in advance!:)

For those of you who are new to LJ as well as to those who are seasoned patrons, I would like to invite one and all to my Renaissance Faire photo community: rennies_nphotos
I try to post about this community at least once a year to remind everyone who would like to share their Faire photos and/or to look at others', as well as to inform those who haven't been there yet.:)
As it's the beginning of the year and more Faires will be starting back up again soon, so please feel free to come on over and have a look!:)

| Subject: | Looking for Fight Groups in New England |
| Security: | Public |
Hi Folks,
I try to keep a current listing of all the local New England fight groups (see below) http://temperlj.livejournal.com/52896.html
Why? An assortment of reasons; * We have people approach our group to join and we aren't a fit for them * We aren't in their area of New England * We have a job we can't take and people ask "But where else can I find someone?"
The listing is not an implied endorsement, critique or bolster, just a resource and I'd appreciate your help. Ideally it is a website but if not, a name, a description and an email/postal contact would be great. Thank you for any information you have available and will share :)

| Subject: | Friend selling two cast-approved Renaissance outfits! |
| Security: | Public |
I am posting on behalf of "Lady E", long-time den mother of the Friends of Faire of Bristol Renaissance Faire. She is thinning out her garb closet before a move, and has priced two gowns to sell. At one point both of these pieces of garb were Faire Approved for BRF cast costumes. Both are made to fit a woman's size 22-24, 5'6" tall, though the skirts could be shortened by hemming, or lengthened by adding a kick panel. Both bodices have boning built in. Playtrons may not need an actual corset to wear.
This is a great opportunity to garb yourself for a faire/fest, a masqued ball or other custumed event, or a wedding -- while helping out another member of our community.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ( Noble bodice, sleeves, over-skirt, under-skirt and matching riding hat... )
( Middle Class bodice, sleeves, over-skirt and under-skirt... )
Please contact her via email at fettiplace@aol.com if interested, or with further inquiries.
I'm sure some of you know about this already. I only saw it recently as a rerun but apparantly an episode of Dinner:Impossible was filmed at the Maryland Faire.
I thought it was great. It was nice to see people I know from my local faire (Florida Renn Faire or FLaRF) especially since we open in 1 week and I can tell them I saw them and find out what it was like.
| Security: | Public |
Greetings, I represent a new faire, the Joplin Renaissance Festival, in Joplin, MO. It's in a lovely park, Landreth Park and goes up April 26th and 27th. I portray Queen Elizabeth and also am the Entertainment Director (yes, I know that's too much for one person!) As many people are hesitant to sign on with a new faire, I can assure that the owner is a magnificent promoter with years of management experience who has the entire entertainment budget already put aside in advance; impressive indeed. Here's the web-site (still in progress!) http://www.joplinrenfestival.com/
We're currently seeking someone experienced in Games management to help the owner establish a games program for the faire. The position doesn't pay a salary but if the right person has some patron-worthy, portable games to bring to the faire and run them, that would be ideal.
We are also looking for a Children's Realm manager to develop and administer the children's area at this new faire. There are local Scouting groups available to help staff the area and the park already has a lovely children's playground area that will be fenced off for the purpose of children's activities. We already have booked several stage shows who will be doing some shows in that area, namely Lady Nancy's Silly Songs of the Selkie and Lord Kerridwyn. We also have booked Brother Donald who will have his usual story-telling spot beneath one of the large trees.
For stage and street entertainment we have booked the Bedlam Bards (http://www.bedlambards.com/), the Limey Birds (http://www.limeybirds.com/main.html), Queen's Gambit (http://www.queens-gambit.com/), the Musical Blades, the Lord Mayor's Company, Byron T. Bear (http://www.byrontbear.com/), Matthew the Magician, the Red Moon Tribe, Sonic Sidhe Tribe drum group, Twisted Blades, Howl-O, Seymoure Graves and others. As of now, the roster of paid entertainers and stage shows is completely filled.
We also have several reinactor groups and educational groups, including; the Royal Gauntlet Birds of Prey, Five Rings Fencing (http://www.fiveringsfencing.org/), the Bramble School of Defense (http://www.bbramble.com/), the Brotherhood of Steel. Our Weapons Master for the faire is Mark Wickersham; any and all sword play and fighting must be passed by him for safely, such events will then be passed by me as ED for entertainment value. I delegate!
We are thrilled to have the Yeoman Body Guard of the Yeoman Warders from KCRF (http://movies.groups.yahoo.com/group/yeomenRBG/?yguid=256855343) as our Royal Guard. We are also thrilled to have Mother Pockets Soup Kitchen providing food and mothering for the participants' lunches.
This is the sister faire to White Hart Renaissance Festival (www.historic-arts.com)
Anyone interested in joining us should contact the owner, Bruce Morgan at abug.eater@yahoo.com as to the open positions and opportunities or me, rowangolightly@gmail.com regarding entertainment.
Or just come and see us in the village of Fareham, Hampshire in England on April 26 & 27th, 1575!
Huzzah!
Hello all!
Well I've reached the point in my business where I would like to upgrade from a tent, to building a booth at the Louisiana Renaissance Festival. This is a new and terrifying venture for me.. does anyone have any recommendations for me? I understand about the expense.. but not about the actual proceedure. I have a meeting in the next couple of weeks with the faire owners to present my booth design and 5 year plan,.. and I'm in search of a contractor.
Words of advice?
Many Thanks and warm thoughts..
| Subject: | Tartan Terrors need our help! |
| Security: | Public |
I'm reposting this email I received in a few feeds sorry for repeats.
While returning home, The Tartan Terrors from the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire had their truck and trailer stolen. The truck was found torched, and the trailer is still missing. They have lost their transportation, costumes, instruments, merchandise - everything. The Tartan Terrors enjoy as much popularity as The Pyrates Royale and The Rogues at the Maryland Renaissance Faire. If you have had a chance to see this band, then you know that they are much loved in the Renaissance Faire community. The Tartan Terrors have done much to raise funds for the RESCU Foundation, an organization that helps provide healthcare aid for Renaissance Faire employees. They often play for free at the benefits, and I have even seen them auction *themselves* off, to the amusement of all. This time, they can use our help. The Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire is accepting donations for The Tartan Terrors. Donations can be sent to Carrie Emich, PRF, 2775 Lebanon Road, Manheim, PA 17545-8711. Carrie is the vendor co-ordinator for the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire, and the address belongs to PRF. Checks should be clearly marked, "TARTAN TERRORS AID". (The Bee Folks is donating $200, but they can use any aid, great or small.) You can visit their website at www.tartanterrors.com. You can visit the RESCU Foundation website at www.rescufoundation.com. You can see pictures of their vehicle at www.beefolks.com/blogger. You can see PRF at www.parenfaire.com. I do not know if the entire stock of Tartan Terror CD's went up in smoke, but they seem to still be on sale on their website. This would be another wonderful way to help the band. If you belong to any of the many guilds and social groups formed around the Renaissance Faires, please feel free to post this to those groups. Thank you for taking the time to read this, and many more thanks to those who are able to help. Sincerely, Lori Titus The Bee Folks
