jakkismagic: To Male Rats Urgently Need A Home

They are two male rats that were recently dropped off at a Petco in El Cajon, California. The story is, they came from a girl who claimed to have got them from a lab or something like that. She wasn't too sure herself. The girl told Petco that they were "zebra" rats. But her story is very far from the truth. These poor males were either shaved or had chemical hair removal to have a zebra patterned coat! Because their hair has yet to (and may never) grow in they are stuck with missing chunks of coat and Petco doesn't know what to do with them. I am reaching out in hopes that these to males will find themselves a loving home were they can be treated, rightfully, as family members. Sat, May. 31st, 2008, 08:38 pm
witherwings7: Rats available in S. CA (pictures!)

I mentioned a few days ago that I was trying to find homes for a litter of rats that I took in. Well, I have photos of the litter. To refresh your memory, a lady called who found a PEW rat in her apartment complex. A few days later the female gave birth and the management of the apartment told her that she has to get rid of them. I took them in and now I'm trying to find good homes for these babies once they are weaned. They are almost 4 weeks old and they will be ready in a week to two weeks. I'm asking for an adoption fee of $15 ($10 if two are adopted). These babies weren't handled as much as they should have been so they're a bit wary. Patience and an understanding of slightly skittish rats would be preferable in any potential adopters. The mother is also available for adoption since I will be keeping two boys myself. The mother is also wary but, like the babies, will take food from you, she's just wary of being picked up. I would prefer she go with a daughter. I'm located in Los Angeles, CA. These photos were all taken 24 hours within getting them from the woman. ( pictures! )Thanks for taking the time to read my post :)

witherwings7: Rescues in Los Angeles, CA

A lady called me, needing to find homes for some rats. She found a female PEW a few weeks ago near her apartment complex and two days later she popped out a fairly large litter. The management told she has to get rid of the rats asap so she called me. I'm taking in the mom and the litter. I've bred rats for years (for older members, this is Scaredykatratz) but took a temporary break from breeding. Heck, I don't even have rats anymore, haven't for a while now. Anyway, I'm going to actively be looking for homes for these guys. They're three weeks now so they'll be ready to go in two to three weeks. I think she said there's about 12 babies, PEWs and black hoods. I'll probably keep two myself but the rest I need to find homes for. There will be a small adoption fee of $15 ($10 if two are adopted). I'm in Los Angeles (the west side to be exact) and would prefer any potential adopters pick them up from me (I can make exceptions). I'm getting them tomorrow so I'll post again with photos.

witherwings7: Moderator

I've been watching the community, and making sure things have been going smoothly but I would like to pass the moderator torch to somebody else. I don't have as much time online as I used to have and I don't have rats anymore. I don't see myself getting more rats for a few years. Is anybody interested in taking over the community? If so, comment here or you and comment in my journal.

battyvamp: Looking for a Rat Rescue

Hi, I am looking for someone who may know of a rat rescue in the Tampa Bay, Florida area. I was talking to one at one point about a year or more ago, but I lost her info. I am in dire need of finding a home for my two rats, because of circumstances beyond my control I am being kicked out and it is a good possibility I will be in a shelter or on the streets. I would like to see my rats taken cared of first. They are not that friendly anymore. My fiancee got so sick he nearly died and all of my time was taken up with him to make sure he was ok and comfortable. So in the process, I know it was wrong, the handling I was doing with my two rats was forgotten. With the right touch they can be friendly, I know it. They are a male and female, housed in different cages of course. The male's name is Vash and he is a hariless boy who is about a year old now. The girl will be a year old about the middle of the year. She is a white and black hooded. Her name is Winry, (yes we are anime fans). If anyone knows of a rescue or is willing to take them pls let me know, I would be greatly appreciated, and I also have an extra cage I can donate. It is a two story ferret cage that I had gotten for two of my other rats who passed away last year from old age. Thank you for your time, BV x-posted

dream_a_fever: Long shot, but neutered males in SC/GA/NC area? ):

My GGMRR (gotta get more rescue rats) has just kicked in again and none of the rescues in my area have boys readily available that weren't spoken for or that I liked, and before I go to my breeder to get a male or two and go through the process of neutering them myself then having to wait at least a month for quarantine and for them to heal from surgery and not be a threat to get my girsl pregnant, I was trying to find an already neutered boy or two. I already have 8 girls in a ginormous cage capable of fitting more rats than I want and two girls in a smaller cage. It's a long shot, but worth it. Here's what I like, if you have a neutered male or two that needs a good home I'll most likely be happy to take him/them. Coats: Standard smooth or satin. Eyes: Black, Dark Ruby, or Odd-Eye. Ears: Either, but dumbo is preferred (: Colours: Agouti, Apriocot Agouti, American Blue, Black*, Beige, BEW***, Blue Agouti, Blue Beige*, ***Burmese (any variation) , Cinnamon Pearl, Classic Lilac***, Cocoa (light or dark)**, Coffee**, Fawn/Topaz, Himalayan**, Ivory**, Lynx, Pearl*, Platinum*, Platinum Agouti, Powder Blue, Quick Silver, Russian Blue, Russian Blue Agouti*, Russian Dove, Russian Silver**, Siamese (any points)***, Silver*, Silver Black, Sky Blue. Markings: Bareback, Berkshire**, Blaze*, English Irish, Irish, Self, and Varigrated. Any mismarked faces too****. And of course the stars are ratings of adorableness, the only types I don't really like are rexes, pews, hoodeds, and manxes. Please help me with my GGMRR male edition.

ieathyenas: Need a rat-child :3!

Hello everyone. I am interested in adopting a male rat, preferably 5-8 weeks old but I am flexible as far as age goes. I live in the Sarasota area of Florida. I'm willing to drive almost anywhere in Florida but I would prefer to meet halfway. If there's anyone who doesn't live in Florida but is willing to ship, I will pay for the shipping. Price is not an issue for me for the rat or the shipping as long as it's within reason. I could just get one from a pet store but the last time I tried that I ended up with a very darling little boy who died only days later from disease :\. It was very hard on me and I don't want to endure any more heart break due to poor health caused by the sad conditions of local pet stores. Not to mention I tend to rant at the employees when they pick up their rats by their poor tails.. :x He'd be kept with another rat named Willard who needs a friend and has always been very social with other rats. Willard is healthy but a quarantine will be made for the safety of both the rats. If anyone is interested, please reply or send me an e-mail at ieathyenas@gmail.com Thanks ^_^

ragingnymph: Transport available for RLR rats from Marion, Ohio to Marion, Alabama in mid-July!
We've had the offer from a wonderful transporter that's making a trip in mid-July and is willing to transport rats from Rattie Love Rescue to anywhere between Marion, Ohio to Marion, Alabama. This includes much of Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee and Alabama! If you're looking for ratties and are along the route, you can take advantage of this and adopt some ratties that need good homes! If you're interested and you're anywhere along the route, we've got the following ratties that are hoping for homes! (These are linked to the Goosemoose rat forums, which are the same tidbits I post everywhere, heh.) 2 - 5 week old boys, 1 is a beige hooded, one is a beige berk. They are shy and sweet, and quite laid back. http://www.goosemoose.com/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,118/forum,rat/topic,4023415.05 - 3 month old black hooded girls. They're a bit on the skittish side but SO sweet. They're making progress but have been waiting for homes for so long! They are a joy to watch when they get super excited and bouncy. http://www.goosemoose.com/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,118/forum,rat/topic,4023418.01 - Fawn hooded boy, 7 months or so. He's a doll, though he is a bit skittish. We've been working with him pretty intensively and he's come a LONG way. He's super-lonely and needs some other boy ratties to chum around with! http://www.goosemoose.com/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,118/forum,rat/topic,4023332.0We MAY also have another male, female and 11 babies available, however we're having trouble finding a quarantine home so I'm not going to really put them "up" yet, but it's possible. Here's a link to Google maps of the general route, as you can see, it includes such "major" cities as Columbus, Louisville, Nashville, Decantur, Brimingham, etc. If you're interested, reply here or use our contact form. Thanks! Feel free to spread the word.

ragingnymph: Rattie Love Rescue in Cincinnati, OH
Hi everyone! I'm Kimberly from a new rat rescue, Rattie Love Rescue in Cincinnati, OH. :) We got our first rescues in a few days ago - Lilly (1.5 years), London (6 months) and 8 eepers. There are 4 boys and 4 girls (funny enough!). The colors are fawn and beige, with some berks and some hooded. The babies will be available after May 31st, but may be reserved in advance. London will be available to an experienced owner (he doesn't bite or anything, but is quite skittish, we'll be working with him until he finds his forever home) after his 3 week q-tine is over. The mama, Lilly, won't be available as she is on pregnancy watch (there will probably be another litter, as mom and dad came to us still together). There's two videos of the babies on YouTube. The first one is short and sweet. The second one is more then 6 minutes, but totally worth it for attempted finger nursing, rittens grooming themselves and others, exploring, etc. Too cute. ( Here's a bunch of the babies. )( Here's London. )( And here's the mama, Lilly. )Just as an FYI: We are always willing to drive up to 3 hours to meet up with approved adopters. We may also be able to get a train going. If you want more info on adopting them, or on the rescue, check out the site. We'll update it often if you want to keep an eye on the babies. Thanks for reading. :) *Cross-posted to a handful of pet/rat communities.*

battyvamp: Looking for homes

HI, I am having a dilema in real life right now, and I don't want people to think I am a SPO, because I am not. I swear. Recently my husband has become very very ill, he has congestive heart failure, and is in need of a heart transplant as soon as they can arrange it. In the process of him being ill, he lost his job because he had missed so much work from being in the hospital. My job hunting hasn't been going well at all and we are close to losing everything. The reason for the little history is because I am an owner of 3 rats, 2 hamsters, and 2 mice. I am needing to find them homes....They don't need to be suffering, and we are struggling for food for ourselves and them. I would like to find permanent homes for the hamsters, and mice, and a possibility of a temp home for my rats. The hamsters and mice are my mom, and they are too much for her, we live with her, so the stress of my hubby being ill and with Hospice is taking a toll on her too. My rats are not the best at being social. my PEW George is the friendlier of the three, and because we haven't been able to spend alot of time with him, he is slowly losing his friendliness. I have a black and white girl, named Winry, who I adore, and just got her right before my husband fell ill, so she isn't social really, and I have a male hairless named Vash, who isn't friendly unless you have him food. He is a pig. I have tried to socialize them, but I am not successful. I was thinking of a shelter that would maybe take them in and work with them, be successful where I havent' been. I love my rat babies deeply, and I don't want them to suffer because we are having it so hard right now. I hope you all do not think of me as an spo. I am trying to do what's right. Finding a place for them, instead of them getting sick or starving. We have some food and all for them right now, but it is going quick.... I don't want to lose them, but there is nothing I can do, until I can find work and my husband can go back to work, Which hopefully is soon. So if there is anyone willing to take the hamsters and mice to new perm homes, please let me know. And if anyone is willing to take my rattie babies, for a temp time, which it may end up being permanent. Please contact me. I live in Tampa, Florida. Thank you for your time X-Posted

soulmusicality: Three Girls in the Chicagoland Area!

In my excursion for dog food for my mix today, I ended up at PetCo. I know they only sell feeders, so I don't bother asking to look at their ratties (like I usually do, since one of my favorite past times is nitpicking the pet stores about the treatment of their rats). On this day, however, there was a crappy cage sitting next to the ferret "container" labeled "The Three Amigos". I looked at it for a second, and saw a naked tail hanging out of the tissue box. Oh! Ratties! :D Inside were three beautiful girlies. A Cinnamon Berk, a Black Berk and a PEW who has a dirty nose which leads me to believe she has a little Siamese in her. I nearly squealed. They had been brought to the PetCo because the owner turned out to be severely allergic. Hm. I opened the cage and all of them are enormously friendly. Melted my heart. I asked the manager how much they were asking for them, and he said they were free to a good home. *headdesk* I told him he shouldn't do that, since these obviously very well socialized girls could end up snake food. His response: "Oh, we've had a lot of inquiries about them in the last two days (stuck in a cage for two days! Ick!) and I always ask if they're going to be pets." Good for you buddy, its easy to lie for free snake food. Bah! I said I would take them. "Oh great! I thought you looked like a rat person!" Okay? o.O I look like a rat person? Is that a compliment? Or it could have been I took the licky PEW girl out and snorgled her? Anyway. I CAN keep them if there isn't a lovely home out there for them - so here's some pictures if anyone's interested. :) ( The Three Amigos ) Fri, Mar. 23rd, 2007, 05:26 am
