I am so glad my dad's company was honest and didn't pull this shit. Under an act passed by Congress that was supposed to close this kind of loophole, if you have life insurance or other upon-death benefits through your employer, they don't necessarily have to pay up, and your beneficiaries can't sue to get them. This is a serious "call your congresscritter" thing, as they're the only ones who can do something about it.
