Are we entering a new age where artists can freely enterprise their skils however they want without "selling out". Or has independant music become independant only in name and everything is destined for commercialization. Or possibly even a third option I've yet to think of.

The Bo Diddly Beat is something you've heard before, without question.
Here's what it is.
In its simplest form, the Bo Diddley beat can be counted out as a two-bar phrase:
"One and two and three and four and one and two and three and four and..."
The bolded counts are the clave rhythm.
All this guitar & rhythm Bo Diddliness is buried in the song "Hippychick" by Soho,
which I was watching recently. Now you can know what to listen for :)
Also, U2's "Desire" which is all punchy and emphatic on the Bo Diddly beat.
This makes sense because Rattle and Hum was the album when they went
down to the delta and discovered blues music.

Mini Rant:
Like most people in this community, I have love for all the brothers and sisters throughout our glorious diaspora. But this shit annoys me...I went to a poetry reading in the City a couple days and came across a phenomenon I thought died out in the 90's, like visors and Floam: a misguided, most likely insecure, slightly delusional black individual for whom being black JUST ISN'T ENOUGH. This is not to say that there aren't Black people who have American-Indian blood running through there veins, I know there are....I just thought people would do their research before they start professing they are 1/12th Cherokee(a very popular one, but I'm sure you've heard that before). Not to mention how giddy they get at the chance to stake claim to their reservation herded brethren....yet some of these same people display obvious apprehensive and resistance to claiming African nations are their place of origin. *Sigh*
