Lady Cup; size issue
Hi, this is my first post on livejournal.
I've got my Lady Cup yesterday and tried it.

I feel so much better than mooncup(UK) which I used a few times.
I love the softness and flexibility of LadyCup.
However there is one thing I want to make sure.
Yes, it's about the size.

I'm 31, no children. skinny asian woman.
I chose Large.

It was not so difficult to insert Large cup but I feel that
the LadyCup is still folded in vagina.

I tried to make the LadyCup to open(make a circle around the cup) with my point finger
but still it's folded.
When I removed it, it came out with folded(closed) style...
What do you think, ladies?
I think I should've gotten Small one...
Or small one from another brand?

I would really appreciate if you could leave your opinions.
Thank you.

Success Story with my LadyCup!
So I posted to you all earlier because I was having stem / riding / irritation issues, and then I trimmed the stem, and the world was beautiful.

But I just wanted to post my satisfaction and personal overwhelming glee at having put my cup in, in a public restroom, for the first time!

small teen, heavy flow, which cup?
Hi, I just discovered menstrual cups/cloth pads a couple of days ago. I want to order a cup ASAP, but I'm confused as to what size/cup to buy. I've narrowed it down to the lunette or the lady cup. I am a small teen virgin with a HEAVY flow. The lady cup/lunette appeal to me because their smaller(eaisier to get in i suppose because of my frame?) , but at the same time I have a heavy flow and I don't want to empty it every hour.

So what should I do? I'm also considering getting the smallest of the big cups, but i'm confused as to which cup that would be because they're slightly different shapes!

I know this post may not make a lot of sense, but please help me if you can! Your advice would be very helpful!

Ladycup
I just got a lady cup (small) after using the small divacup for about 5 years. Holy crap, the lady cup is SO MUCH more comfortable! Whoa. The divacup was just too long for me, and I suspect either too large or too stiff, because it was always making me feel like I had to pee. Haven't had that problem with the ladycup so far, although I've only used it for a day.

Anyway, I'm super happy with the comfort aspect, but I'm having a heck of a time with removal! It is so slippery, and since the bottom doesn't have a little stiff part to grab on to, its really tough. Plus it seems to be suctioned so much more than the divacup. (I'm actually a little worried about my IUD for that reason, but we'll see how it goes.)

Any tips?

brand shopping
After reading lots of very helpful brand comparison posts, I think I am going to try a large Ladycup. My small Mooncup UK leaks quite a bit, but I love how flexible it is and it always pops open promptly and has good suction. I was concerned with getting a larger one because of increased cramps, so the more squishy Ladycup appeals to me. Seems like it opens and suctions well and has ridges for easy removal. I was a bit concerned as it is longer then the large Mooncup UK, (as seen in [info]kuradi8 most excellent chart posted on 29 April) since my small MCUK sits low and I am worried about it hanging out and rubbing sensitive bits, but then I realized there is not much difference between 1.97" and 2.09"! It is only 5ml more in capacity then the small MCUK and I don't think my leakage issue is due to being over full but a rim width issue. I am also thinking the Ladycup over another MCUK because I feel like the rim really bruises when I remove it and I hope the more sqishiness of the LC will help.
So the question is, where is your fav place to buy a Ladycup to be delivered to East Coast US? I have time so no rush is needed, but cost is a consideration, especially since my MCUK was almost $40.
Thanks

Small Ladycup experience
So, I finally had my period a few days ago, and used the small Ladycup for the first time. This is after using a small Mooncup for over five years.

Going in, my vagina seemed to suck it in the first time! That didn't happen later, when I compared it to the Mooncup. Both cups behaved the same: they went in easily with a finger to guide them. The Ladycup was easier to remove than the Mooncup, it just came out. No need to angle it or anything.

I didn't notice any difference in the effect on my urethra, both cups slow me down a bit when I pee. I had no problems using the little Ladycup even though I'm 24 and sexually active, it stayed in place and didn't leak. I'm a light bleeder though.

I like both cups. The Ladycup has the edge thanks to ease of removal, but as I'm comfortable with the Mooncup the difference is very small. The clear colourless silicone of the Ladycup is more attractive then the Mooncup, but it does mean that I can't see it when I'm in the shower without my glasses!

New mooncup owner with questions
Hey there, I have just recently got a Mooncup (UK)  and have only had the opportunity to try it out on a dry run so far. I have had a look around this site, but I haven't found the answers to my specific questions.

Firstly, I'm 28 and I have the smaller Mooncup (UK). I have managed to get it in okay on the dry runs and I'm not sure whether I have achieved the suction.
Details )
I am thinking of getting a second cup as a spare, and I might as well try another brand. I am thinking about Ladycup, but I'm not sure whether to get the smaller size or the larger one. If you get the larger one and you are smaller would it make any difference? I'm going overseas to live in a third world country in about 6 weeks, so only one cycle before I go. I don't know whether I should order it before I have that cycle so I can try it out on that, but I haven't even tried out the Mooncup on a cycle either, to know whether it will work for me.

Blue cups?
I wrote LadyCup asking them if they would consider a less stereotypical colour (ie: anything but pink) and asked if they had considered blue. This is the reply I received this morning:

"Hello,
Thank You for your Email. Yes, we plan more other colors as limited edition but the time we don´t know exactly.

Best regards,

I am looking quite forward to that!

Don't Be Afraid to Try a Smaller Cup
Hi. I'd like to add my experience in case it might help someone else.  Although I am a petite, small framed person,  I bought the large size Diva Cup (according to the sizing guidelines all the companies are using - I am 48 yo, no children)   and tried it for 3 periods.   I finally had to admit it was just too large both in diameter and length because I had pain on insertion, pain wearing it, intense pressure on my urethra and constant leaking.  I wrote the Diva company and they offered some suggestions to keep trying, but it didn't help.  After researching internet sites which showed size comparisons between all the cups, I decided to go extreme and order what I understand to be the smallest one on the market - the Ladycup size small.  Well, SURPRISE!  No pain on insertion, no pain while wearing.  I was having a few leaks, but thanks to helpful comments on this forum, I figured out how to be leak-free.  Though I didn't really want to have to do this, it works - every time!  After inserting the cup,  I have to insert my finger and run it around the perimeter of the cup a couple of times. Also, thanks to someone posting photos of an actual cervix I was able to picture the anatomy, and figured out that when I was having no leaks, the cup was situated right on my cervix.   If I do this, I have no leaks.  If I don't  - I have leaks.  I hope this helps someone else out there.  In conclusion, I'd like to assert that the sizing guidelines used by all the companies are too broad.  It would be nice if they would brainstorm and come up with a more accurate sizing system so we wouldn't waste $$ on cups that won't fit.

First Time Poster
I've been lurking in here for awhile. Anywho, I just got a Ladycup and did a dry run. A little advice. Eat a meal or have a snack and some water before inserting or taking out your menstrual cup. I have a really bad habit of not eating when I'm hungry (mostly cause I'm too lazy to make anything XD), and as a result I almost fainted about 3 times in the process lol. So like.. yeah drink some water and have something to eat hehe I think i learned my lesson.

Also, the Ladycup is freaking small, smaller than I expected, and it has massive suction. It literally sucked all of my vaginal fluids right out o_O I know you're supposed to break the seal before taking it out, right? Well it was too far up there (probably because my cervix is high right now) so I couldn't get a good grip or anything. Had to pull it out by the stem every time, and even then I had to really go in there. The stem was also smooshier and smoother than I expected, so it was kind of hard to get a grip on it. Bearing down really helped though. I was expecting my cervix to hurt or something from pulling it out without breaking the seal, but I actually didn't feel a thing. Guess cervix's are hardier than I thought :P

The upside is that I didn't really feel anything from the whole experience, not even when the stem was sticking out (probably because of its massive smooshiness). At most I'm a little sore cause i'm really dry down there now lol

Anywho, not so bad for a first experience with a menstrual cup. Maybe I'll post again about it when I actually have my period :P

Oh, and this community is really awesome!

Opening tips for Lady Cup?

Well my Lady Cup arrived today, so I am doing a dry run before my period starts in a few days.   It definitely is softer than the other cups I've used.   I had a time getting it to open, but finally did after about 20 mins.  I have had the other cups move around on me, but so far this one hasn't budged.   For those of you who own the Lady Cup, how do you get yours to open?

Lady Cup learning curve
I received my Lady Cup (size small) yesterday evening. I finished my period recently, and with the way my cycle has been going since I had my Implanon inserted I don't expect to be on my period for another two months. (Which I am more happy than sad about, even if it means I don't get to use my cup yet) I was worried that the flexibility of the cup I chose would make it difficult to get it to pop open, but I had very little problem with insertion. In fact, at first it popped open before I got it all the way in. Eventually I got the hang of inserting it so that it wouldn't pop too early. Sometimes I can't get it as high in me as I'd like, but I can deal with it. I'm not sure how high it needs to go, anyway. Mostly I'm trying to fit more of the stem inside me because I'm afraid to clip too much of it off because of my removal problems. If I can get better at removing it, where it sits in me won't be such a big deal. I think my vagina is shaped in such a way that it doesn't allow things to sit high inside it. I never got tampons next to the cervix like they were supposed to be, instead they sat right inside the opening and often poked out and made me uncomfortable.

The thing that is really bothersome is removal. It seems way too slippery in there to get a good grip on the cup to break the suction. It is hard to get my finger between the cup and the vagina without my vaginal walls getting in the way and being pinched. I don't have enough room to put one finger on either side of the cup when it's inside me. When I push on the side of the cup with one finger, the cup is so flexible (which makes it very comfortable) that it just squishes out of the way and fails to break the suction.

I only managed to remove it in a reasonable situation (with one leg on the toilet) once. The only way to reliably remove it is to lay on my stomach and reach around me instead of under. Then, I can tug on the stem (I have to pinch it, it's too slippery for the ridges to do much good) and pull the cup out enough so that I can break the suction with part of the cup outside me. If I don't act fast enough and pull out the cup quickly after the seal is broken, the cup will re-seal and go further up inside, and I will have to do it again.

My vagina is a little sore and dry from having fingers up there pinching and poking it, and the cup popping out. Even a smooth removal is a little uncomfortable because of the rim of the cup is a little wider than the opening of my vagina, but it won't be a big deal when I'm no longer practicing insertion and removal.

Since the suction is so fierce and hard to break my first thought would be that I needed a smaller cup, but it's my understanding that there's no smaller brand available. At least I'm confident I won't have any troubles with leaking, haha. It's possible considering the lightness of my period that I will be able to wait until I can get home and lie on my stomach to remove the cup, although that may be very messy and I'd really like to learn how to remove it properly.

I'd like to get most of this learning curve out of the way so that my period goes as smoothly as possible. If anyone else who's had this problem can share how they got over it, I'd be really grateful. Thanks. :)

Ladycup!
I got my small Ladycup yesterday!

I've been using a small Mooncup for over five years and am very happy with it, but I was intrigued by how small and squishy the small LC is, so I gave in and ordered one. I'm 24, sexually active and have a very light flow, so I'm interested to see if I can hold a teeny cup in place, because I don't need the volume. My only issue with the MCUK is that it slows the flow when I pee. I thought by putting less pressure on my urethra the LC might relieve me of that nuisance.

I was surprised by how small it is when I took it out of the pack. Next to my Mooncup it doesn't look tiny, but it's quite a noticeable difference. The silicone doesn't feel noticeably squishier than the MCUK, but because it doesn't have a built-up bit at the base, the cup is more flexible. It has a substantial rim and pops open as easily as the Mooncup.

It's over two weeks before I can try it, but I took three pictures to compare it to the Mooncup, and a video to show how it folds and pops open.

Cup shopping
I've been reading through this community and it seems like you get this question a lot so I'm sorry to be repetitive. But this is a bit of a steep purchase for me, so I'd like some recommendations and some encouragement. I've wanted a cup for years, but since Dad was buying the tampons and I would have to buy the cup I didn't go for it. Now I'm living on my own and my tampon stock is running low.

I'm very small. My flow is pretty light so I'm not worried about getting a larger size. Stiffer and larger cups seem scary to me. I am considering the Lunette, Moon Cup UK (I'm not sure if I'm using the right brand name... I'm referring to the one that isn't made by "the keeper" company) and Lady Cup. Right now I am most attracted to the Lady Cup, the price is initially off-putting but with free shipping there's not really much difference. I'm unsure which of these companies offer a no questions asked money-back guarantee.

I am a little concerned with how low the cups rest compared to tampons. My tampons always tend to sit low and frequently poke out. I have to shove them in. Perhaps I'm putting the tampons in incorrectly but I have a feeling my vagina is just shaped in a way that shoves them downward. I know I can cut off the stems, but I'm worried about how this will affect wearing the cup and especially unfolding the cup inside me.

It's very important I choose the right one and have a good experience because my husband is skeptical and I want to impress him. :)

Lady Cup material
Hi everyone,
I've been using menstrual cups for about 7 years now. I started using the Keeper which I absolutely loved, but eventually developped a latex allergy and had to part with it =(  I had been using cloth pads alternately, but started using them exclusively until I found the DivaCup a few years ago.  First time I used the DC was so uncomfortable I thought I would never be able to use it.  But eventually, I figured out the angle and chopped of the stem and used a scalpel to shave off the ridges (!) and now it's tolerable, but still uncomfortabe to insert.

So I just ordered a LadyCup off of eBay and am looking forward to getting it based on all the wonderful reviews I've heard of it.  My only concern is the material.  I know they say it's medical grade silicone, but from all the pictures, it looks quite different, and I'm suspicious that it might in fact be plastic.  Does anyone here have the LadyCup and other silicone cups? Are the textures noticeably different? Does the LC discolour when you boil it?

Thanks for the info!

Ladycup from ebay...how long did shipping take?
To anyone that bought the LadyCup on ebay...can you tell me how long the shipping took from the Czech Republic?  Mine shipped by airmail on Monday, June 9 and it hasn't come as of today.  My period is due on Thursday so I'm getting anxious!

too soon?
hey! wow I've been reading all of your posts for a while and now I'm actually going to post one!!

Here's the deal, when I started to read you posts, do some research and read about these cups I got obsessed! All I want to do now is read about them! And trust me that's a little weird for a 14 year old to do!! It's just that I have had my period for only 4 months so far and the first time I used pads I got a weird itching rash type thing! OWWW! I used cloth pads but they are still bulky! Anyway I know that in a normal person's world they would go from pads to tampons and then (if ever) to menstrual cups. But I think why even waste the time on horrible tampons?! why not just skip a step to the next best thing?! Anyway you guys have completely convinced me about cups and I really want to try one but my question is do you think it'd be too soon? I mean I'm a virgin, only 14, never tried tampons and have only had my period for a very short amount of time. I feel like I'm pretty comfortable with my vagina and I don't think I'd have a problem with the mental part of insertion but do you think it'll be too big or too advanced for someone my age and experience level?

I'm pretty sure i'd like to try the lady cup because it is small and felixible. Do think that's a good choice? if not what would you suggest?

thank you soooo much for your time and answers!I means so much to me!

Unpredictable Lady Cup Burning and Shifting?
So I guess the background details are, I’m a 19 year old virgin, and I'm new to menstrual cups.  I started with the Small Diva Cup (which I hated and thought was too large and painful and had death suction and even laying down didn’t help insertion--I could never even get the thing actually inside me), thought I must have a tiny vagina, panicked, then read rave reviews about the tiny Lady Cup, and bought one (in the Small size), even though I’m a broke college student.

I feel like I must be doing something wrong! Everyone else seems to RAVE about the Lady Cup, and true, it’s VERY soft (MUCH moreso than the awful painful Diva Cup) and foldable and tiny and inserts so easily.

But...

Lady cup news
I just received a newsletter from the Lady Cup company!

A few highlights:
They're making a coloured cup! It is pink. Not really to my taste, but I know it's something people have been asking for for years. This is the only image they provided:

Which looks like a mockup to me, but could just be the background that's not real. They say it will be available from Sept/Oct.

They linked to this community (and Obsidian's site) at the bottom of the email!

Lady Cup is Here!!!
Lady Cup just arrived!

I see it is still pretty new, and not many women tried it yet so I guess it deserves a review.
It is soooo small! I can't believe that cups actually are so small! I got the large size by the way, and I can only imagine that the small size must be so teeny tiny small...Yes it's squishy and very pretty to look at, the photos at the Lady Cup webby are not nice.

First Time!
So I just received my Lady Cup in the mail and... I'm in love!  I'm so excited, it even went in relatively pain-free.  I was expected some horrifying experience to take place since the first time I wore a tampon ended up that way, but no, everything is perfect!  I used the origami fold, or at least attempted to... it kind of did its own thing, I guess you could call it the "blobular fold" lol.  By the way I just recently turned 17 years old and I am still a virgin.  I would recommend this cup to everyone, especially young girls.

Two quick questions
SO have have 2 questions for you. I am just ending my second cycle w/ my Diva and quite enjoy it. Though I haven't quite gotten the hang of it yet. I'm still spotting lightly, but that is way better then before.

The first being when you bleed into the cup, large amounts, do you feel the air being pushed out of your cup? I can. And it kinda feels like mini queefs. Is it 'cause I'm doing something wrong?

The second being how much do you bleed each month? I have a Paragard IUD and bleed quite heavily each cycle. I'm just trying to find out what is normal.

lunette vs lady cup
I'm about to order cups for my girls who should be needing them soon.  My 17 year old uses the keeper well.  My up and coming girls are younger.  I was planning on lunette, but am not sure if the "squishyness" of lady cup would be easier or harder.  Easier since it's softer or harder since it may be soft and slippery to get open and place?

LadyCup Love!!!!!!!!!
Although I have two perfectly good cups that I simply adore to pieces (Lunette & MooncupUK), I think I've developed a new addiction: MCC (Menstrual Cup Collecting)!  So, I'm on Day 2 with my newest addition, my sweet LadyCup, and I absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this brand and wanted to post a quick review:

INSERTION:
Yes, it's "squishier" than my Lunette and MoonCupUK, but that didn't create any problems for me. I got the larger size (very similar to the Lunette), and the only difference I noticed concerning insertion is that whereas I always use a shallow "punch-down" fold with my other cups, I found that the "7" fold worked the best in terms of getting it to pop open, etc.  Once I figured out that the "7" fold was the key, the cup has popped open right away every single time.

WEARING:

The LC seems to create a nice, strong seal because I've had ZERO LEAKAGE (including a kick-ass cardio kickboxing workout, overnight use, and leaving it in all day long on my heaviest day today - and I tend to have a  heavier flow). The "white panties test" confirms this glowing report! :)  Overall, the cup is so comfy that I don't even know that I'm wearing it, just like my other cups.

REMOVAL:
I was initially worried about the "squishiness" factor, but I found that the raised bumps on the bottom of the cup are there for a reason! Yes, I had to break the suction, but those little "grippers" made it easy every time!

CLEANING:
This is the only cup I have with the "slanted/angled" holes and I was wondering how easy they'd be to clean. Turns out that they're VERY easy to clean (and larger than the MoonCupUK's holes). All I have to do is run water on the outside of the cup and it cleans them right out. There's no lettering or logo on the inside or outside of the cup, so that makes cleaning even easier.

OVERALL:
Love it!!! My only problem now is that I still don't have a "favorite" cup because the LadyCup is just as amazing as my Lunette and MoonCupUK!  I really need to stop buying new cups, but I can't help it . . . . it's an addiction! :)

Hope this helps someone!!!
