The new edition of Mark's lyric book "Nights of Passed Over" is under way and should be out by May.

Just in time for the holidays, Caldo Verde Records will release a limited edition (10,000 North America), 20-song, live compilation from Red House Painters and Sun Kil Moon songwriter Mark Kozelek. Little Drummer Boy Live was recorded during Kozelek's European and North American performances this past year. The double cd encompasses songs written throughout Mark Kozelek's career, including selections from his early days in Red House Painters ("Katy Song," "Bubble), Old Roman-era ("Void," "Cruiser"), and Sun Kil Moon ("Salvador Sanchez," "Duk Koo Kim") as well as personalized covers of Modest Mouse, Cars, and AC/DC, and two previously unreleased tracks. I am a longtime Mark Kozelek fan, although I still don't have his entire discography (including the White Christmas album). I recently heard a recording of Katy Song from the BBC6 show that happened in November, and since then have been obsessed with finding acoustic live recordings. I figured this would be a great way to find out what is out there...I know Mark isn't that into bootlegs, but I have hope :o)
Also, I really love what I've heard of Tiny Cities and I'm very excited

nhennies @ 10:44am: Does anyone know of any bootlegs from the Sun Kil Moon tour? I don't mean the Kozelek solo tour but the tour he did with a bunch of string players shortly after "Ghosts of the Great Highway" came out. He played solo in my town but sadly the big band tour came nowhere near Texas and I'd kill to hear it. I saw a picture of the stage one night (in this community, actually... i think) and it looked incredible and everyone I've talked to who saw that tour said it was terrific. Surely somebody recorded one those shows, right?

I also saw the Retribution Gospel Choir last night, which was very strange. They played four Kozelek songs though, one of which was new and very very good.

I saw Mark Kozelek in late January at the tsunami relief benefit in San Francisco, and in truth I was only there for Ben Gibbard, so it was the first time I've ever heard of him at all. I don't remember much of his set, but I remeber I liked it, and I remember he did a song(or two?) where his friend Emily accompanied him in vocals. Does anyone know who she is, or what the song I'm talking about is, or how I can get more information on Emily? I really want to hear this song again.

1. Does anyone know where Mark Kozelek is based right now? I know a while ago he was in the bay area, but is that still true? I just realized I had no idea where he was now.

2. Is he working on anything? Solo? RHP? SKM?

3. I just found out about his book - Noites de Atropelo. It appears to be out of print - does anyone have any ideas on how to get a relatively cheap copy of it?

nhennies @ 12:37pm: Kozelek live @ the Cactus Cafe in Austin last night. He's playing again on Tuesday though I won't be making it the second night. He started the set with 2 or 3 new songs that were terrific and followed with the usual solo set. A few covers: "Send in the Clowns", a Modest Mouse song, a Low song, half of "Whiskey in the Jar" before he stopped and said, "Nevermind, this sucks." He was in a great mood all night which was a complete turnaround from the last time he was here when he threatened to smash someone's camera if they didn't shut it off and complained about having to pee. My only complaint is that he played no songs off "Old Ramon" but was, as always, open to requests. I'm still convinced he's one of only a very few people left in the world who can sustain a live show with just an acoustic guitar and voice.

Hey,

Does anyone know of any exisiting bootlegs from the most recent Sun Kil Moon tour? Not Kozelek by himself, but with all the string players and whatnot. I only got to see him solo and imagine the full band shows were probably amazing. Would love to hear it. Knowing RHP/Kozelek fans I'm guessing there must be some obsessive live tapers out there who got at least one or two shows.

cakepirate @ 1:07pm: i'm sorry this post is only vaugly related...like the kevin bacon game...but, there is a song in Almost Famous, Small Time Blues, and the guy singing and playing it in the movie is the actual writer, Pete Droge is his name. I would love to get some guitar tabs for that song. Would anyone here know where i could find that? or maybe have a suggestion as to where i would be better off looking?
