Speculation I was going through some old stuff in the file cabinet when I came across a folder labeled "Teddy Ruxpin," and on the front was written "All tested, A-I 100%. Also new, never used!!!" Curious, I started going through the folder page by page, and discovered the contents were all photocopied material from the 1996/97 Toy Faire. I honestly have NO idea where all of this came from, but I found some pretty interesting things listed, and uploaded a few pictures so you could see for yourself: This is the front page of the packet. Those Lil' Boppers are too cute! :3 An ordering list. I'm glad I got my Mother Goose for free! 0_o A brief explanation of how to identify the talker's special cassette tapes. Wholes!?!? XD But what I found next really got me curious: A list of toys for sale. Note a New Mother Goose from PlaySkool (or Play School as they put it) is listed. One page out of many listing all the book and tape sets for each toy. Again, New Mother Goose by PlaySkool? They even have a list of books and tapes for her, too, and... they don't have any for Teddy?... So, I started looking around on the internet and could NOT find a single bit of information on PlaySkool's "New Mother Goose." Judging by the papers, there obviously was one made, possibly even before they did Teddy since there wasn't even a list of book/tape sets for him yet. But what I want to know is... what happened? If anyone has info on a PlaySkool Mother Goose I'd really appreciate it. :) Oh, and there are many other pages I didn't bother copying, and if you want one feel free to email me at blueoctopede@mindspring.com. There are a bunch of product lists, and lists of all known WOW merchandise as well as book/tape sets for nearly every talker made! It'd be something to have if you're trying to get all the book/tape sets or outfits for Mickey Mouse or Teddy or Pamela or anything else. My sister an I have been working on this site for a while, but haven't updated it recently. It is our MAVO site. On it are icons, pics, a MAVO member quiz, rules and regulations according to Bognostroclum, and more. Soon I want to put up my 44 page comic which has my characters in the Tedddy Ruxpin universe, but I doubt it'll happen soon.
here's the link http://www.angelfire.com/scary/mavo/
and if you can't get to it through that, try my site's address at the bottom left will be a link.

Teddy update In case yall haven't noticed, Teddy has been officially released and is in stock at most Target stores in the US. As far as I can tell, all they have available is the basic set of Teddy with two story cartridges and books. So if you weren't able to pre-order (which doesn't make much of a difference since Backpack Toys is a year late in shipping them) you better grab them before they're all gone! ;) (...or before the company goes bankrupt. Has anyone else noticed that Teddy seems to have a really bad affect on his makers? First WOW goes out of buisness, then he flunks out with Playskool since he was so poorly made, then YES! goes belly-up... Maybe its a curse! *gasp*) | | Monday, July 31st, 2006 | 7:25 am [masquedbunny]

imdb Teddy trivia i was probably the last one to read this, but i'll post it anyway because it made me laugh out loud (and at work) ...
An episode depicting Tweeg, L.B. and piles of old books was in pre-production at Atkinson Film Arts in Ottawa around Christmas 1986, with scripts trickling slowly into the layout and posing departments. Some bored posers began putting silly and risque titles to the books, expecting they would be deleted later, when the scenes were animated in Korea. A month hence, the Korean rushes returned to Ottawa and the scenes were screened to the sponsors. To everyone's shock and to Atkinson's chagrin, it was clear these inappropriate book titles remained until this point of the product. Korean animators could not understand English and didn't realize these titles were meant as a temporary joke. Atkinson's ate the cost of repairing the scenes, yet portions of the bogus titles remain in the final cut. | | Friday, May 12th, 2006 | 7:25 pm [blueoctopede]

Enjoy!!! :D I'm sorry I had to post this as a new entry. For some reason, LiveJournal wouldn't let me edit what I had originally posted... Teddy Ruxpin computer game! There's a new game out called Gobs of Fobs. From what I can tell, it's a checkers style game, where you move the Fobs from one side of the board to the other, while under a time limit. Here's some info. from strategyinformer.com: "It's springtime and that means one thing in the land of Grundo: Springtime Singtime. The annual event to celebrate the arrival of spring is here and the fobs are celebrating with one of their favorite games!
Position the brightly colored fobs on the game board to match up like colors and advance in level before the timer runs out!
Features: • Beautifully rendered 3D environments that let you visit the magical land of Grundo, where Teddy Ruxpin and his friends live!
• Three different game modes to keep your brain teased!
• Two different difficulty settings, Normal for the beginner and Hard for the expert puzzle gamers!
• Official music and voices from the Teddy Ruxpin series!"So far, that's the only place I've found info. on the game. If you ask me, it looks pretty snazzy :) If you want to see screenshots of the game and/or download the free demo, click here. Tomorrow is the Day! I don't know how many, if any brick and morter stores are going to carry them, but technically tomorrow is the official day of the release of Teddy Ruxpin DVDs vol 1 and 2! I've also ordered them through Amazon, so if I can't find them anywhere else hopefully they'll arrive from Amazon pretty quickly. Also, it's interesting that if you look at Teddy Ruxpin DVD releases on Amazon, there are now 4 listings - the expected ones for today, and the same DVDs from a different company to be released next May at half the price. I wonder what's going on... I also noticed that the DVDs used to be listed on Bestbuy.com for preorder, but now they don't have any listing that I can find at all. I hope they actually get released this month. Current Mood: nervous | | Saturday, November 19th, 2005 | 4:28 pm [blueoctopede]

*sigh* I recieved this email from BackPack Toys just last night: Dear ----, Thank you for placing your Teddy Ruxpin order at teddyruxpin.com. Yesterday, I received the unfortunate news that we will not be able to ship Teddy Ruxpin orders this year. We had a delay with our overseas supplier and therefore cannot ship Teddy until February 1, 2006. I wanted to tell you this immediately as I understand you may have to make new holiday gift-giving plans. I offer my sincere apologies for this delay. On top of being a tremendous inconvenience to you, I understand your disappointment in not having the opportunity to share the magic of Teddy Ruxpin with a special someone this holiday. If you would like to keep your Teddy Ruxpin order, as a token of our appreciation for your patience and understanding, you will receive a limited edition Teddy Ruxpin signed by the toy’s inventor, Ken Forsse when your order ships. If you decide to keep your order, we will not charge your credit card until your order ships on or before Feburary 1, 2006. If you decide to cancel your order, please reply to this email and we’ll take care of it immediately. As you may already know, when you ordered your Teddy Ruxpin online, Airship and Treasure Series One, were included in the box set. Treasure Series One is a bonus software package and is available for free to our online preorder customers only. You will still receive your bonus software. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. We appreciate your business and your support of Teddy Ruxpin. Respectfully, William Rosenberger Chief Executive Officer BackPack Toys DO NOT cancel your order!!!!! Current Mood: ecstatic | | Saturday, October 8th, 2005 | 11:15 am [captain18]

More on First National and Teddy on DVD... Recently jcaliff brought us the press release and web links for the First National DVD release. I decided to add that information to the Adventures Of Teddy Ruxpin Wikipedia article, and decided to push an update to the First National page as well. In looking through the other press releases on their site, I've been able to ascertain what I would consider some good news and some bad news. The bad news first...The DVDs are billed as "push to play" with no special or bonus features. Now the good news...The family DVD line is listed at $5.99 per release. At five episodes per volume, this works out to be $1.20 an episode. Personally, I'm still disappointed the release isn't through SHOUT! Factory. Now that Teddy is an acquired property, it's not like some other company is going to pick it up and do a different release without some kind of massive sales figures. Any kind of documentary, interviews with creators, storyboards, anything like that, won't have a chance to happen until DVD is superseded. That having been said, $78 to acquire the entire series seems reasonable to me given the price-per-episode ratio, although it will take up a lot of shelf space. The real question, at this point, is where FNP will be sourcing the DVD master from. If they go back to the original 16mm prints I will, in fact, love them forever. Even if they use the original DiC 1" distribution masters it won't be too bad... Current Mood: thoughtful | | Thursday, September 29th, 2005 | 9:09 pm [jcaliff]

Teddy Ruxpin Guides A few months ago I was made aware that when I last reorganized my server, the best-known URLs to my Teddy Ruxpin documents -- particularly my Episode Guide -- were broken. The documents, which haven't been touched since 1997, are still available via FTP. At some point I'd like to HTMLify them since text isn't as chic as it was back when I was simultaneously maintaining the alt.tv.simpsons FAQ, but without decent screen captures I don't really see the benefits of hypertext at this point. Feel free to peruse and link, I expect this to be as permanent as web addresses get: ftp://ftp.wcat.com/pub/teddy-ruxpinEnjoy! Current Mood: amused | | Sunday, August 21st, 2005 | 7:34 pm [jcaliff]

Tweeg's Tower Well, after much time, effort, frustration, and resolve, I've finally updated Tweeg's Tower, my Teddy Ruxpin website. I've moved all the content to my domain at jcaliff.net, reformatted the entire site, and added some new stuff, especially my collection of Animation Art. If you have me linked to your site, please change the address to http://www.jcaliff.net/tr/index.php. If I did not link to your site on my links page and you want to be added, please let me know. The pages aren't completely finished - I haven't made title graphics and updates to some of the content, but it's a start at least. I also deleted the post about the contest on this group. I haven't had a chance to set up the page, so I'm going to delay the whole thing for a little while - at least a month or two. In the meantime, if you were working on something for the contest, please don't give up. Thanks! Current Mood: accomplished | | Friday, July 1st, 2005 | 5:50 pm [blueoctopede]

Almost live Well, the teddyruxpin.com site is about to go live! Is it just me, or does the new Teddy look like the one YES! released around 1996? Current Mood: excited | | Friday, June 24th, 2005 | 11:32 am [jcaliff]

I wish I could remember the whole song. Anyone help me out? I don't have these episodes on video any more - they got deleted many years ago, so I have to go from memory. These are just bits and pieces, not necessarily in the right order, that I can remember.. **=words I can't remember at all. I know there were also two versions of the song, one from before they got caught by the Ying Zoo, and one from while they were in the Ying Zoo. Teddy Ruxpin around the world Just for fun, I'm doing some research on Teddy Ruxpin in countries other than the US and Canada. Just doing a quick image search on google reveals a German title card, and I assume that the cartoon was shown in other European countries as well. What actually brought this up was that I was doing a little research on Japanese voice actors (my other hobbies involve anime and manga), and noticed a couple who had done voice-overs for Teddy Ruxpin. Apparently it was shown in Japan on NHK (public television station) in the 80s, but there doesn't seem to be any other information about it on the internet other than a little voice actor info and that the toy was released in Japan in February 1987 by a company called "Tsukuda Original" (the company was eventually bought out and assimilated by Bandai). Anyway, I'm thinking it would be fun to find out about Teddy in other places. If anyone finds any good links or information on the internet, please let me know. I might turn it into a webpage eventually. Current Mood: amused | | Thursday, June 16th, 2005 | 6:13 pm [jcaliff]

Do Gutangs have names? Does the Gutang Ambassador have a name, or do they just call him by his title? I wonder if they live in some kind of military communist collective without identities of their own. Would make an interesting fanfic. Yes, I'm obsessed with Gutangs, I admit it. I think they could potentially be the most interesting characters in the series, since they're such an enigma. You know, I think I want to make myself a Gutang icon. :) Current Mood: bored |
