[MOD] Update - FAQ post
This is just an FAQ list for some of the questions that have been asked and weren't mentioned in the user info. For future reference, all questions and concerns will be addressed here, so if you're unsure about something, simply make a comment here.


FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions


Can we include icons that we've previously submitted to icontests as a part of the manga100 challenge?

Yes, you may. I see nothing wrong with it, and I've done it myself with the Sailormoon 100 I'm doing. ^^ So no problem!


Where can we get the html tables for the Original Post?

A tutorial can be found here. Your finished table might look something along the lines of this one. Once completed it will look something like this.


Can we use fake cuts?

Yes, you may.


The claim I want has already been taken! Is there a waiting list?

The waiting list is located here. Please note that you cannot be on the claim list and the waiting list at the same time.


If I'm doing a manga artist, may I use images from manga that *INSERT MANGA ARTIST* illustrated in, but didn't create the plot/story?

I don't see a problem with that as long as you note the actual creator of the series she's illustrating.


Is it possible to dump a claim? Like, just stop and delete your posts and have your name removed from the list? If so, would you be able to claim something else?

Yes, it is possible. However, you must inform us on the Claims List thread. And yes, at the moment, you can claim something else immediately. There might be a future rule stating a period of time between the time you drop a former claim, and the time you pick up something else. People've been claiming stuff a bit carelessly so we have to make a lot of changes constantly. @_@; But right now, there aren't any rules on this subject yet.


Does the pairing have to be a romantic pairing? And would I have to have both characters in every icon?

Nope. It can be any pairing you'd like (friendship, sibling/family, romantic, non-canon, etc.). Yes, you should try to have both characters in every icon. I'd say, 90% of the time (i.e. 90/100 icons), your icon must feature both characters in the same icon.

Would it be alright for me to do a group of three? Not necessarily a pairing, but just a group of three characters?

That's fine, although it would probably be tough to do 90 icons with all 3 characters in it (as referred to by the previous FAQ question). If you think you can do it, it's fine with us. ^^

This one is stated in the rules. You have 3 months to complete your icons. Please refer to rule #4 for further details.

I'd like to claim Ju-Yeon Rhim for 100 icons of her art. She's famous Korean manwha author/artist of "President Dad" with TokyoPop. I guess this is an ok place to post? :) I'll get the first 5 done within a week, right?

Hehe, people normally post their claims in the Claims Post, which is linked to at the top of the main page of [info]manga100 as well as in the User info. If you could re-post your claim there, that would be great. ^_^ And yes, in your first week you should make 5 or more icons. :)

Oh! I didn't get it really, the 2nd rule says "Then, post your claim(s) in a comments post, and wait to be approved by one of the staff members via comment reply." So I thought just comment anywhere, I thought this look official. I'll go re-post there tho. ^_____^

I just wanted to know...I read the rules but I wanted to ask anyway since I don't understand. What is Anime art? Does that mean I can't take any pics from the show? And one more...what is Kawaii?

Anime art is what you see in the show, as well as any promo artwork, fanbooks, posters, calendars, cels, etc. that featues anime art. Manga art can usually be distinguished from anime art very easily, especially with CLAMP. For example, all of the art featured here (scans) are CCS manga art. Art like these are anime art and cannot be featured. Yes, a lot of them are from the episodes, but there are also promo artwork that you may not use, such as most of these. Don't worry though, there are plenty of CCS manga art. ^^

Kawaii means "cute" in Japanese.

No bricks here. ^^ If you're referring to the Claims list, we update it about twice a month depending on the time of the year. Lately it's been slimmer due to personal situations. It suffices to say that we probably need a few more volunteers, but we're doing the best we can. ^^

(offtopic, but you live rather close to me =3)

I realise that I've only just joined and I'm not even accepted to the claims list yet (patiently waiting! I have my five icons ready and waiting!), but I would be more than willing to help out a bit if you need it.

Can you drop a claim, then reclaim the same claim (let's say) two months later?

Yes, you may, as long as your claim's not already taken by someone else. As soon as you drop your claim, it's open to others to pick up. ^^

I read over the rules, but I couldn't find an answer to my question there, so I'm asking here. ^^ Is it okay if I submit icons for the challenge that are made from someone else's bases if I give credit to the base-maker?

Hello! I was reading over the rules, and I was wondering - I know it said that there must be an original post, where all 100 icons will be posted. The only place I can think of to post it in is my own LJ, and it's friends-locked strictly. If I still placed all icons in a table, updated it, and then reposted it with a note of which ones are new during each update...would that be okay? ^^;

Ok...well I wanted to do a certain series but it's been claimed. The thing is it was claimed last year...so do you drop a claim if it looks like it's dead or not? If the person that claimed it isn't working on it anymore and it's been dead for awhile then is it fair to keep it unclaimable by someone else? Just wondering and I hope I don't sound mad or anything. lol
