Hello Malaysians! Can you tell me what you would earn as a fresh university graduate (or with a couple of years experience) in a full-time job in Malaysia?
I'm just being curious... you don't even have to tell me what you earn/earnt. Just the range that you think it would be in.
Thanks heaps!! xoxo

Quick questions:
Has anyone ever taken a course with Global Tesol? Are they recognised by LAN and internationally? How reliable/good are their courses?
Any other suggestions for getting a TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) or CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults) that won't cost a bomb (below RM 8k max) AND doesn't take 2 years to learn?
Preferably places in either Penang or Selangor. Thanks so much!

Malaysia's armed forces chief Thursday called for "stern action" against those inciting racial conflict in the multicultural country, after the government warned tensions were rising. A senior member of the ruling party was suspended for three years on Wednesday for triggering a race row with an outburst against ethnic Chinese, calling them "squatters" and warning them not to seek political power. "The patience of the Malays and Muslims has a limit. Do not push us to the wall, as when we turn back we will be forced to push the Chinese in the interests of our own survival," Ahmad said in a press conference Monday. "The Chinese should not try to be like the Jews in America -- it is not enough they control the economy, now they want political control," he said.

Malaysia's police and armed forces warned people Thursday not to make public remarks that could sour race relations as they try to quash tensions after a Malay politician's racially charged diatribe. The threat of a crackdown on racial provocation reflects fears that increasingly divisive debates about ethnic issues, such as alleged discrimination against minorities, could destabilize the Malay Muslim-majority country. How are they fixing this racial dissent by telling us to shut up?

5:33 pm - Citizenship question
|

divabat
|
I found this quoted as a criteria for Malaysian citizenship on Wikipedia:
Any person born within Malaysia but whose parents are foreign can acquire citizenship after a period of 6 years
Can someone confirm this? Is this actually possible? I can't find anything else that mentions this, but if this is indeed Malaysian law then it would be so helpful!!

Hello!
I'm a third-year polytechnic student, and I'm doing a research paper on horror films and its trends. Conducting a survey is part of the paper, and so I'd like for you to help me fill it out, please. It's a fairly short survey that shouldn't take more than 15 minutes of your time.
You can take the survey here.
Thanks!

I'm hoping this is the correct forum, but if it's not, please delete.
Am looking for RELIABLE and TRUSTWORTHY e-commerce sites that sell things like boots, men's wallets and the like for Malaysians. Ebay has a lot of stuff for females, but the male selection is pretty meh. Would prefer if it's a single brand/shop/entity rather than an online auction /classifieds type site.
Does anyone have any recommendations?
Thanks in advance.

10:23 pm - What are YOUR racist experiences like?
|

fantasyecho
|
We know racism is pretty much part of the institution in Malaysia. At least, we like to say so. But how racist do we get, on an individual basis? Tell us about your racist experiences or instances you've faced in Malaysia: What did/do you face that was racist and discriminatory against you or someone you knew/know? When did you first become aware of racism, not just as a word, but as an actual experience that people actually go through? What do you feel would be practical solutions in combating racism? Have you ever tried 'em?
Thread rules: No personal insults, no slagging on another race just because you had a shitty experience (srsly, it's not all about you, mkay?), no attacking a person for "misunderstanding" (if you want to explain, that's cool; but remember we all have different perspectives) and keep it polite and clean.
Moderators can delete this thread at their own discretion if they think it too inflammatory. I was inspired by a discussion somewhere else and wanted to throw it out here. We know racism exists; we should be able to confront things about ourselves as a people we might not want to.
