GO hardcovers!
So, Neil Gaiman was in my store tonight to do a Q&A type presentation for MirrorMask, and I couldn't help but ask about possibly seeing GO in any other incarnations.

He did say that Terry Pratchett was working on trying to resurrect the movie (though, from what I gathered, this is something we've been hearing for a while, so.)

But the Big Happy for me was the announcement that, next spring, Harper Collins is releasing Good Omens in two new variant hardcover editions! Apparently, they did two so that each author could have a version with his name printed first; one will be a white cover with a picture of Crowley (Neil's version) and the other will be a black cover with a picture of Aziraphale (Terry's version.)

EDIT: Nevermind about that Agnes Nutter thing. XD I was corrected. That is all.

The first copy of Good Omens I ever read (which was a olderish copy from my library, and I honestly don't know if it was a US or UK edition because my library tends to have both) actually had "The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter - A guide to the last days..." etc on the front, with Good Omens written in a smaller font.
Maybe that's what they're going for?
Sounds spiffy, in any case.

Not a spoof. Some of the older editions are called that too...

Ooh, are there pictures of the covers yet?

And the thing about the names is totally hilarious.

I checked with Harper Collins, and no pictures yet. But hopefully soon! It was terribly funny to hear.

*waves* I was there too! When you asked that question, I thought "I wonder if she's from [info]lower_tadfield." Awesome!

LOL awesome! I was kinda thinking the same thing, wondering if anyone in the audience was on this group. XD

I did miss the little snippet of MirrorMask at the beginning, though, because I had to work. :/

Fie work! Well, they showed the trailer which is online, and most of the EPK is online too. It was cool, though.

And I went and bothered the Landmark box office afterward, and they said MirrorMask tickets should go on sale Friday.

it's being released that soon? ::worries:: I work at a movie theatre in Minneapolis, and I've been watching for any information about MirrorMask, but there's been no word thus far and I'm worrying that my theatre may not get it...

It opens the 30th on very limited release. They made 15 prints according to Neil. You can check on the MirrorMask website for cities. Hopefully it will do well enough to get a wider release. Originally, it was supposed to be straight to dvd, so it's lucky to get theatres at all.

Yes! It may not come to my theatre, but it's slated for release 14th October at one of our sister theatres, the Lagoon in uptown. I might even be able to get in free if one of my managers authorises it... sweet, thank you! I wouldn't have thought to actually *check* the website the way my brain is misfunctioning lately.

Oh, wow, the covers, that's marvelous news! When they say "picture of Crowley" and "picture of Aziraphale," I wonder what media the pictures will be and what they'll look like. Did Neil comment on the design?

No, he didn't say anything more than that. But I have a friend who works for Harper Collins, so I might be able to get a sneak peek at them, when the books print in December! ::crosses fingers::

Oh, very cool! I had to check with Amazon and Harper Collins immediately. XD

So Neil and Terry are switching colors?

Oh, squee! I do wonder what the covers'll look like. Watch Aziraphale NOT be blonde, or something, like so much fanart seems to've decided he is.

That's what I fear. We've got this cemented image of Aziraphale as a reasonably-to-extremely attractive, blue-eyed blondie.

They'll give him red hair, green eyes, and freckles. >.<

At least we got a description of Crowley, eh?

Hehee, so've I. But when I read The Book (you know what I mean), he looks different in my head. And it's odd, but for some authors I picture different versions of them, too, like [info]hjbender. Craziness.

Eeek. I can't imagine him *not* blonde, or at least a light brunette. At least we know what his hands look like. xD
