MOD POST: Revised posting guidelines
We are posting this to let everyone know that there are a few changes in the posting guideline. Please do spend a few minutes to read them.

1. Please do make as many as possible before posting, and keep them all in one post. Posting 2-3 times a day will only clutter up the community, as the number of icons posts by memebers are already huge even without the repeated posts.

2. If you are posting multi-fandom icons, please make sure you have 3 or more icons that is Lost related. Also, please actually post just the Lost icons (even in preview) into the community.

3. Please do keep in mind that this community is for icons only. If you plan to advertise your own community, please refrain from doing so in the community, as there are other communities (example: community_promo) that would be better suited to this purpose.

4. If you are posting actor icons (especially Dominic Monaghan), please only post icons that are directly related to the show (ie. icons that are made from: attended events that is related to Lost promotion, episode screencaps, promotional stills, etc.). If the icons are from other shows/movie/not lost-related event, please post to icon community that's dedicated to the actor instead (example: domicons will be a good place for all types of Dom icons).

The reason for bringing up these 4 points to everyone's attention is that we (the mods) are trying our best to ensure this community maintains a high quality for Lost icon makers to gather and share their works. By no means we are trying to cause hassle, as they are just simple courtesy that would keep the un-related items in the community to a minimum.

I'm not an icon poster here, just a lurker/reader, but I do have questions.

Does #2. mean that multi-fandom posts are no longer allowed? Because the majority of the icon-makers in this community (the really talented ones) always make multi fandom icons and post them. I don't mind looking through Alias icons or Veronica Mars icons even though I don't watch those shows because I like getting ideas from the icons and seeing what people do. As long as 3 or more Lost icons are with the multi-fandom posts it's still allowed? Or am I reading this wrong?

And #4. is really hard. What if someone wants to use a picture of Dom out in public somewhere at an event but they can't tell if he was promoting Lost or maybe some new infomercial? I'm puzzled at this logic because a photo of Dom standing outside by himself in Berlin promoting Lost looks the exact same as Dom standing outside of Wellington promoting Lord of The Rings - it's still just a picture of Dom. Why is one allowed over the other if it's impossible to tell what he was doing in the photo?

2. We're fine if the post links to a multi-fandom icon post with more than 3 Lost icons in it. However, sometimes, iconmakers decide to post their icons directly to the community. We ask that then, only Lost icons be posted.

We also kindly ask that since the artists take so much time making their icons, they take the time to post related previews to the community. This place IS, after all, just a Lost icon community.

4. Well, I understand sometimes he could be in a place for more than one event, which in that case it's acceptable. Though I doubt people would not able to tell whether he's attending for Lost or LOTR or other movies (as Lost has started he hasn't really been doing much promotion for LOTR/other movies, but that's as far as I know). I am sure it's not that hard to tell from whether a pictures is taken in Wellington or Berlin. ;) Also, I am aware that Dom has his own icon community, so I think non-Lost Dom icons will have a better suited auidence if it was posted there instead.

For point 4, I am not just bring this up for Dom fans, but actually this is a problem with other actors as well. The reason I mentioned Dom icons are not because I think Dom icons maker are causing trouble or anything, but as I have said, we want to keep the icons to focus on Lost only.

Also, this community gets a lot of traffic and a lot of membership. We'd appreciate the fact that the actors are an important part of the show, but in the past, we've had for example Merry icons show up here. That would be the same as putting Alias icons up because JJ works on that show. Like we've said, we have no objections to what else is in the linked entry, but the icons that are specifically being linked to should be reasonable. This is a very subjective matter, and we believe that our members will do their best to appreciate our efforts to keep up the quality in this community.

	I know this is an old post, but I need a little help. I am a new member of the community and would like to post any icons I make in the future. Sadly, I am new to the whole LJ thing and have no idea on how to. I don't know how to do fake cuts or teasers or anything like that. 	Go to where you update your journal, and at the bottom of the page, it says "post to." Click on losticons and it will post to the community. :) (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	I am sorry for taking so long to reply, but I am wondering are you still interested to affiliate with us? When I looked into the community profile, I see that you are no longer a maintainer of that community, so I just want to make sure before I list the community as an affiliate.
