Hello to everybody! :)
New video that I made for the contest for Lost Video Island on September.
It's a video about Sun with Full Of Grace by Sarah McLachlan.
I love the character of Sun and I love Full Of Grace by Sarah McLachlan.
This video shows Sun's memories... memories about the love of her life, now lost, Jin. :')
Let me know what you think about it... I would really appreciate it, as always. ^^

Jack and Kate
I just discovered that the guy who plays Locke (yeah, I suck at actor names, and Lost has so many of them...) is in episode 12, season 2, called "Aubrey" of the X-Files...

I keep seeing the actors popping up in other things. The guy who plays Richard (I think that's his name - one of the Others, with the really dark eyebrows...the one who sort of recruits Juliet to work on the island...) was in the new Batman movie...It makes me happy. :)

Boone*

You scored 79% kindness, 43% courage, 18% seedy past, and 38% secretiveness!

"I know you made a promise. I'm letting you off the hook. Let me go, Jack."

You are Boone. You are kind and brave, with a slightly less checkered past than your fellow survivors. You are an open book, and do not keep secrets from anyone. While your humanitarian efforts are chivalrous, being so trusting and helpful can get you into major trouble...especially when you spend your days hanging around John Locke. Stay away from the manipulative types and you should be winning a Nobel Peace Prize in no time.

16th-Jul-2008 05:58 am - Test And Share Your "Lost" Actor Previous Work That YOU Have Seen PT 1
(me) Seductive? Angry? Goofy? Psycho? wh
This post may be fun for people going through Lost withdrawls.

Prior to "Lost" how many of the actors that play chracters on "Lost" have you, *personally seen in some of their previous work(s)? (*No listing off the actor bios, I'm talking about what you saw prior to the actor becoming a Lostie).

Since this will most certainly have to be a two part post, I'll start off with three actors for now, but more will come!

I'll start with the talented: Michael Emerson aka: "Ben": As a long time" X-Files" junky (as in the ENTIRE series) I first remember seeing Emerson, and noting his performance on "The X-Files". I also saw him on "Law and Order Criminal Intent" (or ONE of the "Law and Order"'s) in which he plays a glory seeking father, who abducts his kids and plans to murder them when he was exposed as a fraud. (CORRECTION: I did, in fact see Emerson on two different "Law And Order"'s)
On the big screen I saw him in, well, "Saw". I am now such a fan I'd watch him do a Shakespearean reading of "Betty Crocker's BEST recipes Book 1". (Are there any copies of "Betty Crockers Best" in iambic pentameter?)

Terry O'Quinn aka: "Locke" (etc): I already mentioned " X-Files" fandom, and Terry O'Quinn was a regular face on "Files". He even got blown up in the opening moments for the FIRST " X-Files" movie by a bomb-rigged soda machine found by Mulder, so I guess we won't see him in this upcoming "X-Files" flick. Terry O'Quinn was seen on tv on "The X-Files" occasionally, and also in Chris Carter's "Millennium" as a regular. I also saw Terry O'Quinn in the film "Primal Fear".... and maybe "Young Guns" as well... I always fell asleep watching it, but my husband assures me that "Locke" is in it. (No offense to Young Guns lovers!)

Daniel Dae Kim aka "Jin" Ok, more geeky fangirl confessions. I know Daniel Dae Kim best as the deliciously back-stabbing, sycophantic, arrogant and self serving character "Gavin" on Joss Whedon's "Angel". God, I LOVED Gavin. In fact, my love of the smoothe talking Gavin made me want to scream "You speak ENGLISH so fluently and have such a smoothe voice JIN!!" during the first 5 months of "Lost", but that was only because I LOVED "Gavin's" voice. Since my husband is a junky for the show "24", during Daniel Dae Kim's brief career on "24" I would always point and say "It's Gavin! Look, honey, THAT'S GAVIN!!". ( I never claimed not to be a geek.)

Ok. I'm gonna make this pt. I of this post before I get to Harold Perrineau, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, and Matthew Fox, etc because enteries about them could quadruple the size of this first post, and I only mentioned 3 people in this post. I'm sure theres a lot of other work these actors have done before getting "Lost", so I'd be interested to hear everyone's memories and reccomendation's if there is some gem out there we all missed!

As an aside: We all know about Dominic Monaghan's days of glory in the "LOTR" trilogy, for instance, so when we mention him, we can leave that out (or not), It'd be to see what other work everyone has seen him in as well, though.)

If I snub one of your fave characters by the time I get to post2 on this topic, feel free to bring them up yourself. I may not have seen them/remember their previous work.

23rd-Jun-2008 01:23 pm - Some help for the un-initiated
Darma, Conspiracy, I Ching, Lost, Station 10
Hello Lost_Geek community. I just joined up after adding the Valenzetti Equation to my interests list and seeing who else had it. This is my first post, and forgive me if it's a trite thing to ask, but I was wondering if I could get help from your minds about how to describe the character Ben Linus to non-Lost watchers.

I think the way one loves to hate Ben is perhaps the single most compelling reason to watch the show and he's one of the most interesting characters to be in a television show or movie in a long time, and I desire a quick, shorthand, way to try to describe just what this character is like to people who don't watch the show. Now that Lost is on hiatus until the next season I really want to push hard to do some evangelizing about the show to my non Lostie friends, after all.

Anyway, I've gotten as far as comparing Ben to Hannibal Lector, another very memorable character that many people are likely to be familiar with. Of course he isn't entirly like Hannibal Lector, that's just a character I compare him with to try to convey the creepiness, yet refinement of everything he says or does. What other stand out characters in pop culture do you think I could compare Ben to in order to try to make a non-lost-watching friend understand just how great this character is?

If so and if you have seen this weeks episode in america, "Silence In the Library", let me ask your opinion. Did you hear many music cues taken straight from Lost? At times i felt like i was watching Lost...or maybe I have just become SOOOOO Obsessed with LOST lately that it is everywhere.

And speaking of LOST, season 4 really has made me an obsessive. I have seen many people say they have finally given up on the show after this season and I can't understand that. Anywho...must eat.

13th-Jun-2008 06:37 pm - 2007-2008 Season Post-Mortem Part 11: "Lost"
locke
This season, I’ll be summing up this unusual 2007-2008 season with a post-mortem on the majority of the shows I’ve reviewed during the year, ranking from the very worst to the very best.  In some cases, the term “post-mortem” is all too applicable.  This is the final part of this 11-step journey, focusing on the fourth season of “Lost”.

By the end of the third season, the producers of “Lost” had pulled off a creative coup: not the now infamous flash-forward aspects of “Through the Looking Glass”, but a deal with ABC to set an end date for the series.  As soon as the deal was struck, one major writing challenge was resolved.  Prior to the deal, the producers had no idea how long the series would run, and there were reasons to suspect that it would run longer than necessary.  This led to a second and third season that felt decompressed, leading some former fans to abandon a show that was “going nowhere”.

All of that has changed; the end date has given the narrative urgency and a sense of direction.  The producers clearly set forth a three-act conclusion to the series, encompassing the elements to be resolved in three well-constructed season arcs.  While every season has been replete with plot and character arcs, the fourth season had more of a driving purpose than any season before it.  And it’s equally clear, from the events of the fourth season finale, that the same will be true for the fifth season as well.

The season was designed to maximize the process of building tension and escalating conflict.  Had the original scheduling been preserved (running a total of 16 episodes without interruption), the season might have retained its inherent momentum and rivaled the first season as the best of the series to date.  Despite some challenges to the plan, the creative urgency managed to win the day.

The story of the Oceanic Six, sprawling out over the time period between the end of the season and the events of “Through the Looking Glass”, constructed the framework necessary to expand the scope of the series and open up new storytelling perspectives.  If nothing else, it was a good test case for moving out of the traditional flashback format, demonstrating that a well-constructed script could change the perspective of time without undue confusion on the part of the audience.

The flash-forwards also introduced a new layer of mystery.  Knowing some small sliver of the future does not ruin the story, because often the journey is more interesting and powerful than the destination.  Because the “present” was still the main focus, those glimpses of the future only served to add more tension.

While Jack, Kate, and Locke were, as always, at the forefront of the story, other characters received much-needed attention.  Sayid finally moved into a more active position, and Hurley’s more serious turn became increasingly important.  Sun, with and without Jin, became far more important than anticipated.  And Claire, who has been sidelined for a very long time, began to thread back into the story in a big way in the second half of the season.  Ben continued to prove his worth as a constant antagonist, and Desmond remains one of the best supporting characters around.

Several new characters were introduced, and like seasons past, they served a distinct narrative role.  For example, the four characters introduced in “Presumed Dead” have all proven to be critical in some way or another.  Daniel’s knowledge of spacetime physics made him invaluable in terms of understanding the island, and that will likely continue.  Miles’ psychic ability has already begun to unveil secrets about the island’s true nature.  Charlotte was often in the background, but the finale re-positioned her as very important in the fifth season.  Frank served the necessary function of getting the Oceanic Six off the island.  And Keamy, the mercenary leader, personified the threat Charles Widmore represents to the survivors.

That’s not to say that the characters were all well-served by the fourth season.  While Michael’s character arc made sense in terms of the redemptive core at the heart of the show’s premise, it was far too telegraphed and his eventual fate was never in question.  (Allegations of racism underlying Michael’s fate are, in context of the show itself, ridiculous.)  After so much time in the background, Jin’s role was mostly counterpoint to Sun’s movements.  Sawyer, once so vital to the dynamics of the show, had a very muted character arc (expect him to shine in the fifth season).  Juliet, an important part of the third season, never seemed to have anything worthwhile to do, while her motivations became more and more muddled.  And despite plenty of air time, Kate’s character continued to be defined by reaction rather than action.

It should also be mentioned that this season saw the loss of Danielle and Alex, both of which were taken down by Keamy.  Danielle’s death complicates any attempt to flesh out her story, something important to the overall skein, and while Alex’s death gave additional motivation to Ben, it felt excessive.  The series has been criticized for its apparent misogyny in the past, and this season certainly didn’t help matters.

In addition to the quibbles over character choices here and there (none of which is particularly new), the season suffered from the effects of the writers’ strike.  The effects were relatively minor, especially compared to other high performers like “Supernatural”, but effects were still felt.  In particular, the second half of the season had to be condensed by three hours (an extra hour was added to the finale, but it only expanded that part of the story).  The overall arc had the same conclusion, but the compression was still apparent.

That said, “Lost” continues to be the most complex and rewarding show on the air, particularly for those with the patience to let the story unfold on its own terms.  The fourth season is easily one of the best thus far, reaching its heights even after so much ground has been covered.  The fourth season earned a Critical Myth average rating of 8.0, a slight improvement over the third season, and for the second year in a row, “Lost” gained top honors for the season.  For most fans, that comes as no surprise.

Howdy, I'm a newbie. I'm a regular poster over at lostpedia.com though (user name: pseuMdoYnym).

At any rate I'd just like to let you guys know that my semi-successful (we completed two seasons during the last hiatus) LOST RPG, The Whispers, is starting back up July first. It's open registration, just reply in a post here if you plan on registering so that I can validate your account. It's not an RPG in a traditional sense, I've never played a "real" RPG. The original run of the game is up on the main page, so you can check it out and see if you'd be interested.

Basically you make a character (no characters from the show allowed, the setting is the only thing that is the same) and then you make posts on a daily basis (no necessary to post every day though if you don't want) about what you do on the island. You can write joint posts with other players (say you and another player want to go into the jungle and find the transciever, for example), or just develop your own character's story. Because of the limited knowledge we have about the show players are encouraged to not try to alter the mythology or "solve" the mysteries, but rather use them as a medium for telling your character's story (much as the show does).

It's called The Whispers and you can find it here:
http://z4.invisionfree.com/The_Whispers/index.php?act=idx

Thanks for reading! :D
