CAN YOU SEW? DO YOU LIKE MONEY?
Right so I need to get my portfolio sorted before my interview next week. I want to create a whole new portfolio including a housing for my work, and I've decided I want this made out of fabric. So -
IF YOU CAN SEW/HAVE A SEWING MACHINE, AND HAVE TIME TO GET IT DONE BEFORE NEXT WEDNESDAY THEN PLEASE E-MAIL ME AT LILY(at)LILYDART(dot)COM .
IT WILL BE A SIMPLE BOOK LIKE STRUCTURE WHERE EACH OF THE TWO "PAGES" ARE SLIGHTLY BIGGER THAN A3.
I WILL PROVIDE ALL MATERIALS, AND PAY YOU FOR YOUR TIME.
Obviously you need to live in London for this to work, but within London I'm willing to travel to drop off/collect stuff. Please propagate this where you can!!
-----------
Alternatively if you know of a professional/shop who could do this for me, please comment with the details!

I have a ticket for the evening part of Witchfest (Saturday November 4) that I may well not be able to attend. I really bought it to see the Mediaeval Baebes gig, but the ticket gives you access to all evening events. (If I'm not mistaken, Inkubus Sukkubus will be playing too. For more info, click here). Tickets retail at £15. So, is anyone interested for ONE WITCHFEST EVENING TICKET? I would like £12 for it, Paypal fees and 1st class recorded delivery INCLUDED.

Hi, I was wondering whether anybody could recommend to me a good hairdresser in London? I'm in South London, so something fairly central would be good, although I don't mind traveling a little further if necessary. I'm only wanting a trim and my roots dyed, so would not really want to pay over about £40.
Any help would be much apreciated :)

Hi all, I've just purchased a ticket to see the wonderful Medieval Baebes at the Croydon Witchfest in November. I was wondering if anyone else's planning on going, as I'm a bit of a wuss and I'd rather not go on my own? Plus it'd be nice to meet a few friendly goth faces... I'm very much "The Only Goth In The Village" and it's getting pretty lonely!

Can anyone give me any recommendations for black hair dye that's not going to wash out in 6 weeks? All the ones I've been trying lately seem to fade far too quickly. (for the record I am attempting to dye over hair that had previously been bleached and then coloured purple, but that was over a year ago now)Thanks!

Flat Hunting
Alright so, in a month and a bit I need to have moved out of this flat and into somewhere closer to central London. I'll be needing to commute to Elephant and Castle in the mornings so it needs to either be on a bus or tube route that makes that easy for me.
What I'm asking is; a) does anyone know of any flats/flat shares going?
and/or b) has anyone got any useful resources for me to use? I've already been directed to Gumtree, Craig's List, OnOneMap and the University of London's listings.
Any and all help is appreciated!

ATTENTION - HELP REQUIRED
I wish to re-dye my hair in the next couple of months to one of the brighter colours I had before I started working, and maybe a black undercolour. This will involve a bleaching, and my hair isn't in the most fantastic state. I also need it cut again.
What I need from you lovely people, is the location of a cheap but good salon somewhere in or around london that would be prepared to do this for me. It'll obviously be semi-permanant colour, so they need to be flexible.
Thank ye!

Hi, I've just joined this community, so I thought I'd actually make a post, as opposed to lurking, as I'm wont to do. Anyway, I'm Frances, or Fran, and originally from Nottingham. I moved down here in September to study English Literature at Goldsmiths College (I'm technically a mature student because I have M.E. and was to ill to go to university at the 'normal' age). So far I'm quite a regular at Dead and Buried and B Movie, as well as the ocassional trips to Slimes and of course the Dev.
I'm sorry if I sound terribly stiff and formal, but I get a bit shy about introductions :) It would be nice to be able to put a few names to faces, and know a few people to say hello to.

Hope this isn't considered too spam-like... I do think that this link may be of interest to you :)
Turbulent Soundscape is an established clubbing collective who have been providing quality club nights and gigs in London and the south for years. They've covered rock, punk, metal, grunge, EBM, goth, industrial, hiphop and old school with ease, and provided you, the lucky alternative-public, with fabulous nights out. Now having branched out into the realms of band management, things can only get bigger and better. For news, reviews, schedules and special offers, the TS management have set up an LJ community to keep you informed...

Hope that this finds all of you well. Finally, after more then a year in Kosovo I am getting the HELL outta here and will be staying in London from 1st-5th December (thurs-mon) before traveling to the States. I was wondering if anyone knows of any goth events that might be taking place there during those dates. I am less interested in clubbing since I probably won't have time (though feel free to tell me whats going on I might be able make it). However are there any good gigs, movies, events, new goth stores, bars, cafes, etc...
Thanks so much!

Hello goth girls,
Just a quick query. As some of you know, I am not currently living in London and miss it dearly. Last time I left there was major construction plans for Camden Town Lock, market and...well seemingly everything else! Could anyone be so kind to tell me what has happened to Camden? Are they still in the process of reconstructing? Does it look bad (trendy?). Are all the good goth stores still there? Are the changes major? Any news would be greatly appreciated.
Also, if you have a extra moment to spare I would love to know what is new on the club scene. When I left they had closed down some decent venues. Anything new?
Thank you so very much for you time my dears.
Cheers!

-Oh sigh-
You lucky goth girls! I LOVE London...I mean, can a city be your bestfriend? If so, then London is mine. The sad thing is that I moved from London almost a year ago and now am dying to go back. However, that does not seem possible at this time. I frequented Camden Town all the time and hung out at the Devonshire, the Intrepid Fox and the obvious clubs.
I guess I would call myself a neo-Victorian goth...or rather a Victorian goth fashion victim. More later.
For now, I will just have to live vicariously through you all since you all and hope to see my beautiful London in the not-too-distance future. Give my greetings to all the wonderful dark and gothy things that make London so spectacular for me. Cheers!

hi! thanks for creating this community! my name is heidi. hmmm what to say.. i've been in the goth scene for a very long time - as a child of the 80s i grew up wearing all black and listening to bands like bauhaus, joy division, sisters of mercy etc. these days i am more cyber goth and _slightly_ more colourful. i love camden. i love london and will soon be moving there from montreal. i look forward to meeting you and seeing how this community develops! xoxo

I'm in a bit of a pickle. This weekend, I have to go to a wedding. A boring, mainstream chavvy-type wedding where goth attire will not be appreciated. Now, it's only just occured to me I don't know what I can wear...I have some semi-formal goth gear - bodices and long skirts and thing - and am hoping to create something out of these, but in the hot weather it's gonna be hard as most of my summer skirts would just look tarty. And I don't want to splash out on crap for a wedding either! Any thoughts? HAve you ever managed to go to a 'normal' wedding slightly gothed up and got away with it? I would like to if poss :)

1:16 pm - Shops worthy of our attention
|

elbly
|
Hi,
I'm curious if anyone knows of any shops that might not be on the normal goth-shop-radar.
The thought came to me at the weekend when I was in a small suburb of Manchester when I stumbled upon a little aladdin's cave of cute-trash-wonder. It made me wonder how many other little shops were out there that we've found that others might not know about.
Obviously Camden is full of these little wonders - but I'm fairly sure we've all been to Camden and are fairly familiar with them.
My contribution would be a small esoteric shop on Lower Marsh (just down from Waterloo Station) although I, sadly, don't know it's name - it mostly deals in jewelry, candles etc.
Does anyone have any others?

Which clubs do you tend to hang out at? And has anyone checked out 'Lowdown & Dirty' yet? It looks quite good from the Flyer, but I don't seem to know anyone who goes.
