Having commenting troibles. See them in my journal fine but they're not getting to my email right. Some come hours after the fact, some come out of order, some just seem to have gotten lost between here and there.

Anybody else having commenting issues?

9:10 PM 5/13/08 · Tuesday I removed about 20 people from my friendslist and added maybe 5 or 7. I suspect I may have a couple more adds come Wednesday but we'll just have to see. It's a pretty simple methodology really.

Kinda goes like this.

Once every other month or so I do a Nudge, which is a handy little utility that tracks when the people who have friended you posted last. Kinda arbitrarily, kinda cuz it's my favorite number, I clock on the ones that've not posted in 8 weeks or more. One week after I do this I do a directory search of my friendslist and remove anyone that's still not updated that fit that criteria...

...it'd probably be easier to just go back through the Nudge list but that didn't occur to me until just recently.

Keeping track of who friends me and removes me I do through that "friendings" link up at the top of my journal (really need to alphabetize that again) which, if you decide to go that route, needs 24 hours to kick into gear. Usually it only updates when you go there but mine does it daily since the community I got it from also shows you how to setup a syndicated feed through it to track your own friendslist.

I'm brought up to date, interestingly enough, when I'm going through my friends entries.

Normally I don't schedule this beyond a random desire to do it every so often but I set a date on my calendar for September for the next one.

In the grand scheme of things not having me friended to you doesn't really deny you much. The only things I tend to make friends only is stuff I don't want anyone at work to see, excepting my sex journal where I friends only everything excepting 8 specific posts. More specific friends only stuff wouldn't matter to any of you that haven't met me in the real world because I lock it to them. I know some people friends only stuff they think might be really disturbing and they don't want the general public to see but not me...

...I post that stuff to Beyond·Wrong!

The people that've actually met me hit another specific in that I absolutely never remove them from my friendslist...unless they specifically request it. I generally don't remove much of anybody unless they hit the 8 weeks of no activity limit. People sometimes remove me, like freckledphreak did until I wished her a happy birthday (I'm kinda birthday obsessed)...but I don't do it back because of it.

Personally, I don't quite get why they make the animals "speak" like they're utter morons. Unless they're going for a fluffy mouthed version of an accent. In any case, I've joined every single macros community I can find, without going out of my way to look for them, because they tend to amuse the Hell outta me...

...even though a lot of them are fundamentally worthless.

( Then again...every so often I find a gem like this one )

Others have setup the kumicorps which is worth a look. From what little I understand on this, Kumi's account was deleted recently by the LJ Abuse team on a flagging by some random nutjob about copyright infringement. This seems doubtful at best, seeing as she only posted her own work to her journal and for the life of me I can't figure out how she could plagerize herself.

Now "plagerize" might not be the right word but whatever...doesn't alter the fact that she lost her account for no actual reason. Unless there's unknown factors involved here. Maybe it wasn't really Kumi after all.

Could've been a pod person.

Anyway, I'm just popping this out there for a lil' Kumi support to my own comms that have her friends in them. In case you hadn't heard and noticed the lack of her on your friendslists.

1:00 PM 3/21/08 · This may or may not have to do with the fact that I just saw Whoopi Goldberg on Bravo, which I'll be trying to track down through Brightcove.com later, but I really can't see how. This'd be one of my challenge posts, which will go far and long through a range of communities, but that's not really important to this.

Among a number of the upgrades LJ has made over the last year is displaying the communities that come up in an interests search in order of activity; most active to least. So, here's what we're going to do...

...or I'm going to ask you to and then it's up to you if you do it.

1) Goto your interest list.
2) Pick your favorite interest and click on it.

Advice: Try to pick an interest that's actually a link. Some (sad, pathetic, lonely) people have unique ones that just kinda sit there with no link because no one else shares it.

I know, I have a couple.

Now, the questions!

• If you skim to the very last community listed...what is it and how long ago was the last post to it?


• Goto the community, click on the friendslist link...are there still any active members or is it a blank page?

Some communities are created that no one has ever posted to, listed simply as (Never Updated). Those don't count.

For those of you who don't already know, there has been a strike scheduled for Friday, March 21st, 2008, during which we hope to have many members of LiveJournal provide LJ with absolutely no content for twenty-four hours. This means no posting and no commenting. If you post elsewhere and have it set up to be posted through a feed on LiveJournal, don't do it. Stay away from LiveJournal for twenty-four hours. That can't be too hard, can it? I know some of you are probably quite active on LiveJournal and will find it hard to stay away for an entire day, just as I will, but this is something that needs to be done, to show the people running LiveJournal that we're watching the changes they are making, that we're paying attention, that we're discontent, and that we want to be heard and taken in to consideration. We are not simply users who can be tossed to the side and ignored. We are the people who make up LiveJournal. Without us, without the content we create, without our words, our voices, our creativity, our participation, there would be no LiveJournal. This is a fact, and it needs to be realized and understood and then taken in to consideration when making decisions regarding the way that LiveJournal is run. The strike is only a few days away, so there isn't all too much time to prepare. While this is unfortunate, it isn't enough to keep this strike from taking place. It will take place, the second it is meant to, and it would be best to have as many people take part as possible. Please, spread the word. Spread it fast. There are only a few days to organize this. If you find that you care about LiveJournal or care about the people you interact with on LiveJournal or simply want it to remain a place where you can entertain yourself without constant censorship and money-hungry practices being thrown in without the consideration of those who use the service, act now. If you don't wish to spread the word, that is fine, but please: refrain from using LiveJournal on Friday, March 21st. Do something else for a change. It's for a good cause. (:

Similar to how I'm keeping all the birthday posts to Happy·Birthdays, other than actually then popping over to said and wishing them one, I primarily post my memes to de Meme·Express. Now, since I know different people feel different ways on this, to me a meme is one of those online quizzes you fill out and then it generates this graphic response you can then post to your journal, blog, myspace page, or what have you. A Q&A, which I also post there, is a text based question and answer dealio that you post to your journal...

...my current setup does not display most memes well but Q&As are just fine...so I've been posting all of my memes to the community I setup for it. Also, good moderator that I am, I allow for the tagging system and periodically go through and update others posts so as to make it easier for anyone else to go through and find what they need.
