(Told to me by a sort of binary search on increasing intids. :)

Also incidentally, there are a lot of interests with lower intids that have no one interested in them any longer, many of them misspelled.

Well, I'd imagine if I went to my interest list, cleared it, and added a hundred strings of random characters all at once, I'd get the latest 100 intids. :)

The unique interests list is fascinating to me! Once you get past the typo uniques and the tediousness of requesting each page, there are some gems. Is there any way to have it list 1000 of the latest uniques?
Anybody interested in exchanging "best of" lists and unique interests?

Not exactly one at a time, but that's the general idea--add a few thousand (or more) until you wander into unused territory, back off a few thousand, add/subtract a few hundred, and so on until it's narrowed down to the latest few.

Just now, the latest was "jerwy" at http://www.livejournal.com/interests.bml?mode=view&intid=6091582, over 3 times the previous total.

6158570 had not been taken yet when I started typing this response - in the time it took me to go from there to 6158567, about 15 new interests were created - and that doesn't even take into consideration all the interests that already have an ID that are being added to int lists...

About 250 new interests were added in the past half hour alone; 66,985 interests were added between your comment and this one.

Of random extra interest: int 6158400, "dissavowing christian ignorance". Fascinatingly, the *correct* spelling of said interest hasn't been taken yet. Hmm...

Intriguing. The most interesting part was the rate at which new interests were added. http://www.livejournal.com/interests.bml?mode=view&intid=8875565 was the latest. Once I'd found the latest interest and added one or two to that number and nothing was listed then a page refresh or two and there was a new interest.
