FO! Jayne Hat!
This weekend, I knocked out a Jayne hat with one of [info]tvini 's wonderful kits. (Thanks, tvini!) She also included some great knitting tips and instructions for things I had always struggled with before (cable cast ons, especially). I recommend this kit to everyone!

I ended up using size 10 DPNS because my LYS was out of 10 1/2's. This turned out to be a happy misfortune, as I ended up getting gage from the 10's. Sigh. One day I will be able to get gauge spot on.

The hat is super soft and fuzzy, much to my delight. It knits up FAST.

MY husband HATES that picture, but I told him that's the price of getting his own Jayne hat. Infamy.

Yeah, I'm running low on my Big Cone of Yellow too. Now I'm calling local and not-so-local yarn stores.

If I can't get it cheap anymore, I'll only be exactly breaking even on the kits (and maybe even losing a bit, since my printer cartridge just ran out of color ink AGAIN), which doesn't exactly make it worth my while to measure and wind yarn and schlep to the post office. Here's hoping I can keep the price $15.

Even if he hates the picture, you can tell how thrilled he is about the hat. :)

Heh. May I link to this from www.wearwithstyle.com? This has the added bonus of further torturing your husband by assuring that the knitting geeks AND Firefly geeks will get to see him in his hat.

Of course you can! Here's to hoping it sells you more kits!

This goes without saying, but I think it looks awful sweet. :)

Sigh. One day I will be able to get gauge spot on.

Trying to make this a goal is a waste of your time. Recommended needle sizes are *only* a recommendation, to give you a place to start, and are dependent on the knitting characteristics of the knitter who determined what the recommendation was going to be, so may very well vary considerably from pattern to pattern even when they use the same yarn at the same gauge. You knit how you knit; other people knit how they knit. Trying to make those match is silly. Use the needles that get you the kind of fabric you want to have.
