"New Slang" - The Shins |
] |
Kind of late notice, but a way cool event none-the-less.
The school newspaper, The Kelp, is having it's first ever Kelp Kafé on this Friday, December 16th from 7 until 9 pm. It will be an Open Mike (or Mic depending on your spelling preference) night with hot chocolate, tea, and coffee as well as baked goods for sale. Entrance fee is two dollars.
There will be, in addition to occasional performances by students like you (or perhaps you yourself) games like chess, checkers, pictionary, gestures, cranium, etc avaliable to anyone to play. There will also be interesting books to flip through (ranging from the comedic (How to be a Villain) to the crafty) while you listen to the performances or the new Shins CD.
If you'd like to perform all you have to do is show up and sign your name on your list at the door. Every performer gets a free cookie. (yummy!)
The event will be held on the stage in the Clipper's Galley, and will have a true coffee house vibe! It's a great way to spend your friday night, and if you've always wanted to see what a coffee house is like with performers and minus the way high entrance fee and the crazy Starbucks prices, it's a great experience!

[13 Jun 2005|05:46pm] |
Hey, Just so all thespians know. This upcoming wednesday (the last wednesday of the school year I might add) are officer elections. Please be sure to vote. For those who did not attend the last meeting who were not nominated by someone who did attend, you will not be allowed the chance to run. For obvious reasons. Please be sure to write a speech and for those of you who have been nominated w/out anybody else to run against, make sure to make atleast an acceptance speech.
Thank you,
Thespian Troupe #2899 and Drama Club Co-performance Team Leader (President, Cassiopeia T. Smith (for years 04-05 and 05-06)

What is a thespian? Since 1929, more than two million students have been honored for excellence in theatre arts by being invited to join the International Thespian Society. As a member of ITS, you join a group that includes not only accomplished actors but people who have distinguished themselves in business, science, law, medicine, and every other field of endeavor.
To find out more go to: http://www.edta.org/thespian_html.asp
The moral of our story kiddies, is that Bennett doesn't appreciate the arts as much as it should, so show your school spirit and see the play!

Hey, I'm Kristin and I just joined this. I can't believe JMB has a livejournal community, that's so freakin awesome! I'm an alumna, graduated 2003, and am currently in college in Rochester, NY.
So I saw some familiar usernames in the listing of members, but I'm sure I know more of you guys. Anyone who remembers me should definitely reply to this, I'd love to talk to you guys again! (If you need a reminder of what I looked like in high school, there's a gallery of photos here that you can look through.)
Oh, and sorry about the inappropriateness of my icon, it's about all I got. Thanks!

Here's for you, Julia.
I'm in grade 11 and you may know me because I'm the crazy girl with all the watches who likes to shout people's names in the hallways. Or you may know me from Drama. Or Art Club (from the last two years, not this year unfortunately!). Or from my wonderful classes.
Or maybe you just know me. Because you're a stalker.
But I'd hope not. Because stalkers are kinda freaky.
But that's really all I have to add, muffins.
And cookies to everyone who gives me comments, because they are so very nice! Cookies to Cassie, Ren and Michelle! Fresh from the oven.
Kisses and hugs from the Kellie.

Hi! My name is Cassiopeia Smith and I am a Junior at James M. Bennett high school. I am in the Drama club (co-president), RRR, Concert choir, shop club (fresh/soph years), and other things. I don't imagine many of you know me unless you are in one of those things, I'm just not one of those people who's name goes around too terribly much. Anyway, I'm a proud J.M.B student, although I'm in it for the drama, lol. I don't really go to the dances, although I do want to attend the winter formal. So, if you see me, give me an arbitrary "shout out" in the halls and I'll be sure to look at you in a confused manner since I don't know who you are, most likely.

Hi, everyone! I'm Julia... the future ruler of the world who is currently in the position of Sophomore Class President (you have to start small, you know). I'm in drama, SGA (hmmm... bet you couldn't have guessed that one!), and Yearbook in which I'm the Design Editor (so please, everyone, instead of looking at my picture in the class section... look at the yearbook class section. Because the other one sucks. Like really really sucks). Anyway, James M. Bennett is a really cool (actually it's rather warm >.<) school... so go clippers! Woot woot.
