Hi all! This is a query to all the writers (and even those of you who think you aren't writers) in this community to gauge interest in a collaborative Jewel Riders fanfiction project idea I've been toying with.
Fanfiction Project A series of short stories based on the known Wizards and their Jewels + how the jewels ended up where they were when the Jewel Riders found them in the Second season.
Choices: • Ruby Staff – Merlin • Darkstone – Morgana • Garden Stone – Mallory • Fortune Jewel – Chance • Jewel of the Unicorns • Jewel of the Sea reikaku • Time Stone • Jewel of Arden
Guidelines: 1. You can’t contradict anything presented in the show. For instance, if we know the Wizard’s name who owned the Jewel, you can’t make up a Wizard in their place. You also can’t say a jewel ended up somewhere else than where it did. However, this isn’t to say you can’t have it get there in a roundabout manner. 2. For Wizards other than those known, feel free to be creative. (i.e., maybe the Jewel of the Unicorns was actually the horn of a Unicorn Wizard) 3. Please keep the stories around 5-10 pages (around 2000-5000 words). No drabbles or novels. 4. Stories can be in either prose or script format (but if they’re in script format, make sure there’s plenty of “stage direction” and description). 5. However, you can’t write in second person – this isn’t a “choose your own wizarding adventure” project. 6. Any time period from the show is acceptable – either the more “modern” era of our heroines, the days of the ancient wizards, or anything in-between. 7. Please only pick one Jewel/Wizard unless there aren’t enough interested people. 8. Feel free to title the story anything you wish, but in the interest of keeping to a slight format, I encourage you to add the subtitle “A Tale of the Wizard [Insert Name Here] and the [Insert Jewel name here].”
Anyone interested?

| Kerry Butler/Gwen |
[05 May 2008|03:32pm] |
I was procrastinating and was looking at Wiki. Found this about Kerry Butler who voiced Gwen in S1 of JR
Faith, Trust & Pixie Dust In May 2008, Butler will release her first solo album on the PS Classics label. The album will be entitled Faith, Trust & Pixie Dust and feature some of Butler's favorite songs from Disney films and shows given "intimate, acoustic" arrangements. The title is taken from the lyrics of the Jonatha Brooke song "I'll Try", from the film Return to Neverland, which will be featured on the album. Of note is the track "This Only Happens in the Movies", an unreleased song written by Alan Menken being given its inaugural recording. The full track listing is below. In a unique contest sponsored by her official site, Butler let fans submit suggestions for one song to be included on the album, with the winner, chosen by Butler, joining her in the studio when the song was recorded. The winning entry, chosen by actor Brandon Purves, was "God Help the Outcasts", from the animated film The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Track Listing:
"This Only Happens in the Movies" "When You Wish Upon a Star" "I'll Try" "Call Me a Princess" "Colors of the Wind" "It's a Small World"/"God Help the Outcasts" "Baby Mine" "Minnie's Yoo Hoo" "Second Star to the Right" "The Bare Necessities" "When She Loved Me" "Disneyland"

| new Avalon books |
[30 Apr 2008|09:06pm] |
I reccommend everyone shell out for the new books. They have new interior art by the same person who drew the covers. I expect she'll draw the "Avalon manga" we've heard about, her stle is very Americanime but I like it. =)
The books say there's a website, www.avalonmagic.com but when I looked for it it seems the domain name got reposessed last August... so either I fail at google or SevenSeas has not been on the ball with that.
Obligatory icons from the cover art. Please use and mess with them all you want.
And last, the new printing of Cry of the Wolf has appeared on amazon, scheduled for release on May 13.

| Hello! |
[05 Apr 2008|06:27pm] |
Hello Everyone! I have been anonymous for a little while and decided to get an account! I learned about Princess Gwenevere and the jewel riders from when my parents were christmas shopping at KB Toys and spotted a million (exaggerating of course) pg toys sitting in the back on sale (If i could time travel I'd buy them all!). So they bought one of each thinking that just perhaps they might be liked. Well, they were right and I've been obsessed ever since. This is mainly for sailorpeachy but a while ago I mentioned that I made a custom Shadowsong horse so here he is! Hello Again! ~Merliton

I've always been wildly curious about how people came to know/love Jewel Riders, and their memories and perceptions of the show. As I've seen this meme going around, I thought it might be fun to see everyone's answers for our favorite show! :D

I only now remembered to check back to the SevenSeas page-- an I got an answer!
Avalon: Web of Magic is part of our new youth line of novels, and the first volume of it and The Pirate & The Princess are currently being sold through Scholastic Book Fairs. Avalon: Web of Magic novel 1 and 2 will receive a wide release (i.e. bookstores and online sites) in March 2008 with The Pirate & The Princess novel 1 and 2 following in April 2008.
Please note that our new youth line of novels are being kept separate from our manga line as the intended age group skews younger. For this reason, we will not be listing any of these new youth reader books at Gomanga.com. We do have plans, however, to launch a new web site for this new line of books at a later date.
Also, regarding the Avalon movie... Production for the Avalon animated movie is commencing on Jan 1, 2008 by Film Roman/Starz Media. Starz Media is also working on an Avalon web site, which will launch sometime in early 2008.

| Hi there! |
[17 Jan 2008|10:15pm] |

Hey there fellow Jewel Riders. My name's Tim and I remember watching Princess Gwenevere and the Jewel Riders way back when and just recently my fascination has been rekindled thanks to finding Moondance at a thrift store. She had her mask and surprisingly enough as if by fate I still had her saddle and blanket from my childhood Moondance. I have the one DVD that was released of it as well that I picked up sometime last year. Does anyone know if there are any plans to release any more of the series or does anyone know a "dealer" that has the full series available? I'd love to have the whole series on DVD. Thanks a lot everyone! And I have to say out of all the Jewel Rider creatures I love Shadowsong is the prettiest was there a toy of him?

| Xanadu |
[02 Jan 2008|06:34pm] |
I met Princess Gwenevere today! She's starring in Xanadu on Broadway. Kerry Butler still looks so much like Gwen, and she wore a long blonde wig with a pink dress, which really reminded me of Jewel Riders! Plus, she rides a Pegasus at one point in the show that looks very much like Sunstar, and I started laughing to myself as soon as it came down.
After the show, I told her that I was a huge Jewel Riders fan, and she smiled and looked really surprised. "Get out! Really? Is that even still on?" I told her it wasn't, but I made DVDs of the whole series, and she signed my one official Princess Gwenevere and the Jewel Riders DVD cover. When I asked her why she didn't voice Gwen in the second season, she said she didn't even remember having to leave the show after the first season, but she guesses she must have been doing something else.
I watched the credits of a season 1 and season 2 episode, and it looks like Jean Louise Kelly was the one who voiced Gwen during the second season because her name wasn't in the first season credits, and it replaced Kerry's in the second season's credits. When I heard her voice online, I originally thought she was Tamara. I'm really disappointed with her Gwen. I never thought she sounded nearly as sunshiney and happy as Kerry.
Anyway, Xanadu is a really fun show, and I recommend it for Jewel Riders fans because Kerry acts so much like Gwen, and you can meet her at the stage door after the show ends! It was really cute and funny, but it was shorter than most Broadway shows at only 90 minutes, so you'd probably be better off just paying $40 for onstage seats even though you'd mostly just see the sides or backs of the actors. Kerry has a gorgeous voice, and she's doing very well! She's really a lovely person and stopped to talk to me for quite a while. I hope our other Jewel Riders have found as much success as she has!
