Anapod
Sorry if this is a repeat..but I wanted to share my extreme excitement for Windows-based software Anapod.


I find it extremely easy to use and the interface is aesthetically pleasing. Anapod is integrated into Explorer.. You can right click a file or folder and "Send To" Anapod.

The SpeedSync is great. I hated how iTunes would delete all the crap off my iPod w/o confirmation (and this is a default setting?) With Anapod, it syncs then it shows two panes of whats on your PC thats not on your iPod and vice versa. It then gives you an option to transfer one or the other or both.

The software is $25 but I'd pay upwards of $100 if I had to. It makes life sooo easy. And making Contacts and Notes is as easy as Right-Clicking and selecting "Make New Contact". Or, you can Sync with Microsoft Outlook.

You can also copy Data files to your PC and back with extreme ease. Just drag and drop.

Additionally, it has a built-in Web Interface so you can access your iPod from across a LAN or the Internet. It also auto converts WMA files and other formats. For more features, check out

Oh, and big nerds can run SQL queries on their iPod music collection :D If anyone has any questions or would like more screenshots..let me know.

Thanks for posting this. I have a 3G 10-gig on Windows XP, and I have iTunes. I'm getting a little frustrated with it. However, I purchased a new laptop yesterday, and this one sounds like the music player to download onto the new computer, rather than iTunes.

its more of an organizer.. it doesnt have a built-in "player" but it lets you Select which player you'd like to play the song with.. So you Right click -> Play Track -> Winamp or
RIght Click -> Play Track -> Select Other Player

For the streaming webserver thats built in..you can also select whichever play you'd like to use.. It will let you use any HTTP enabled player --unlike iTunes which forces you to use only iTunes.

Gads! SQL queries? I may have to look into this.

(am not a DBA but work with many, and lately am writing update and select statements in my sleep.)

yeah, all of my music is already in my mysql database on my computer... so many mys... but this sounds interesting even though I still don't have an ipod

Is it possible to use Anapod concurrently with iTunes? I'd love to continue using iTunes to get music, but Anapod looks like the solution I've been looking for.

iTunes? Totally. Haven't installed iTunes on any computer of mine in 2 or 3 years. The ipod updater software? I don't remember. But you can try it. Their demo is just like the regular version except you can only transfer over 1 song at a time. or give me a couple days.. I just got a new computer and will be reinstalling anapod soon ;D

Anapod with Playlists

Sqlnerd, can you reply to this using my e-mail. I'm leaving on vacation and trying to load my 40gb iPod with music from PC which is alphabetical by artist. Within each artist's folder are all the songs for the artist. What I'm trying to do without having to load a music library first and then drag all the songs into playlists. I want to copy the PC music folder to Anapod's playlist which I create. I can't seem to get this done. Is there a way to get a folder from the pc into the Anapod playlist easily? I would accept any help you can offer.
