| Floria Sigismondi "Postmortem Bliss" |
[22 Sep 2006|04:57pm] |

Postmortem Bliss (35.0 MB)
Interview (6.5 MB)
This is Floria Sigismondi's first foray into short film, unless you count the Sigur Ros video for Vaka. Hopefully this will be her prelude into features as many other MV directors have gone. I saw this on TCM last week during their 24 hours of short films marathon. They featured short films by Martin Scorsese, Jaques Tourneur, David Lynch, Stanley Kubrick, Francois Truffaut, Roman Polanski & Alfred Hitchcock. If ever I missed out by not having a DVR it was then.

I've been meaning to post this here for a while. This is the 1982 Acadamy Award winning short from Zbiginiew Rybczynski.

| "M" (Dir. Fritz Lang) |
[18 Jun 2006|12:16pm] |

Med-Res Full Length Film (266 MB) High-Res Full Length Film (855 MB)
Fritz Lang's Masterpiece from 1931 about a child murderer, vigilanty justice, and psychological torment. Peter Lorre's performance is chilling.
I haven't been able to stop whistling Hall Of The Mountain King since I first watched this.

| Adidas:Adicolor "Pink" (Dir. Charlie White) |
[02 May 2006|04:46pm] |

Pink (18.3 MB)
Been a little while since I updated, so here is my favourite clip from last month. It is an advertisement from the Adidas:Adicolor campaign, and it is an absolute work of art. Charlie White has done some brilliant photography and has dabled a bit in music video. The video he did for Interpol was pretty good, but wasn't quite up to the quality of his photo work. This ad is very unique and beautiful.

| Daft Punk – Primetime Of Your Life (Dir. Tony Gardner) |
[31 Mar 2006|09:29am] |

Daft Punk – Primetime Of Your Life (14.6 MB)
In promotion of their new retrospective CD/DVD Musique Vol. 1, the Dafts have released a previously unseen video. I really can't figure out why they didn't release it before now, because it is amazing. The weird creepiness is enough to keep me interested, but it also has a bizzare twist that has a much deeper social significance. It was made in the typical Daft Punk style, which is very campy, so it was very shocking when I got to the ending because my reaction was very unexpected.
Take a look at it and let me know what you think.

| Air - How Does It Make You Feel? (Dir. Antoine Bardout Jaquet) |
[30 Mar 2006|01:03pm] |

Air – How Does It Make You Feel? (21.8 MB)
This is a nice new weird video from Air which was recently posted up at Videos.Antville. Air has had their share of creepy atmospheric promos in recent years, and this continues in that tradition. The song didn't grab me, but their songs usually take a few listens before they sink in.

| Drawing Restraint 9 (Dir. Matthew Barney) |
[24 Mar 2006|10:52am] |

Trailer (12 MB)
This is the trailer for the new film by Matthew Barney. I can only hope that the star power of Bjork can help get this a wide enough release for me to see it. It looks very interesting. It is more conventional and much shorter than the Cremaster Cycle, but I can't imagine the general movie goer sitting through 10 minutes of this.
Maybe you've noticed, but I haven't been updating very much lately. I've been very busy, and I don't see that changing in the near future. I will still try to keep these sites up, but the updates will be much less frequent. I greatly encourage others to participate in this journal. It's a weird and wacky world and there's plenty of this stuff to go around :~}

| M. Night Shyamalan "American Express" |
[09 Mar 2006|12:59pm] |

My Life, My Card (14.7)
I saw this commercial a few nights ago and it really floored me. I haven't liked the last few films that Shyamalan has done, but there is no question that he has real ability.

| Lisa Rubisch MTV Ads |
[02 Mar 2006|12:42pm] |
MTV is unwatchable, but at one time they did come up with some pretty creative and interesting promotional advertisements. These commercials directed by Lisa Rubish are the closest that the station has come to the golden age of the "I Want My MTV, Moon Man, and Brothers Quay commercials.

Shawn O’Boyle “Insane Asylum” (3.16 MB)
Hello again. I hope everyone has been doing well. Today I offer you a slide show of a long abandoned state mental hospital. The pictures are creepy enough, but the Philip Glass score makes it especially chilling.

| The Cardigans – Don't Blame Your Daughter (Diamonds) (Dir. Johan & Martin Renck) |
[15 Feb 2006|12:17pm] |

Don't Blame Your Daughter (Diamonds) (17.0 MB)
The Cardigans are conjuring black magic in their latest video. As far as I can discern, the premise of the video is a seance to find the whereabouts of a missing girl. They discover that secret, but I can't figure out why she got there or who is responsible. It is very reminiscent of a Edward Gorey story both visually and thematically.
On a side note, I will be gone for the next few days visiting the giant rat. Feel free to join the community and post whatever makes you happy. Until the next time, I bid you adieu.

The Cameraman's Revenge (143 MB)

The Insects Christmas (51.6 MB)
The lovelife of beatles and dancing frogs. These early stop motion animation shorts are delightfully funny. CGI might be quicker and more cost effective, but there is just something magical about knowing how much work and passion went into creating these old stop-mo films.

| John Frusciante “Stuff” (Dir. Johnny Depp & Gibby Haynes) |
[10 Feb 2006|09:05am] |

Stuff (22.2 MB)
The short film "Stuff" chronicles the chaotic state of John Frusciante's life circa 1993, just after he quit the chili peppers. He was in a downward spiral of depression & drug use that seemingly could only end in death. It is remarkable that he found the inner strength to rise from the ashes, get clean and reclaim his life. I'm sure that having a family like the RHCP's, given their history with drug abuse and loss, played a big part in his recovery.
Stuff is still a beautiful film, even if it is a bit sad. It has wonderful music provided by the extraordinarily talented Frusciante. It was shot by friends Johnny Depp and Gibby Haynes, features a cameo by LSD pioneer Timothy Leary, and credits flower arrangements by Perry Ferrell. A must see!

| Vincent Gallo "Honey Bunny" |
[09 Feb 2006|10:22am] |

Honey Bunny (21.0 MB)
This video shows Vincent Gallo's unique visual style complemented by his equally unique musical talents. There is lots of spinning, and it has that er..uhm Paris girl in it. Oh well. It's very pretty.
And if you really like Vincent Gallo, you can now spawn his progeny! His sperm is for sale at his online store, Vincent Gallo Merchandise, or you could just ask to borrow Chloë Sevigny's toothbrush.
