Help!
I've been lurking here for a bit as an anonymous floater, finding lots of inspiration from what you guys have been doing! Your projects are amazing!
Anyway, I was hoping to get some advice on what to do. I went to a craft store the other day to get some yarn for a bag I want to make. I finally found some, but it was acrylic (not my favorite type of yarn). However, since I needed a bunch of yarn and was nearly broke, I decided to buy it.
However, once I got to the pattern (which I'd left in the car - that I learned never to do again), I realized that the pattern couldn't be knit with acrylic yarn. So I tried to return it, only to find that the store had closed in those 10 minutes. That store is too far away for me to go back to, so I am stuck with six balls of charcoal gray acrylic yarn.
Any tips on what to do with it? I want to use it up so I can justify buying nice yarn from Knitpicks to make a HP-themed project.
Thanks so much!

question about scarfs
Hi, I'm new to knitting in general (started in March of this year :) I'm on my second scarf and I have the same problem that I had with the first one. The sides of the scarf are bumpy and not even looking like the rest of the scarfs I see people knit on line. How do you get it to look so clean lined and straight? Sorry if this is hard to understand.

Finished Scarf
I meant to upload a picture of my finished Gryffindor CoS scarf awhile back. I finally finished about a month ago....3 months! Not too shabby for a novice. I'm pretty proud of it and loved how it turned out. Too bad it's 70+ degrees right now. Oh well, it'll be nice for the Fall and for the movie premiere.

It's done!!!!! )

Another Hermione Jumper Replica
Back again - and hurrah - I've finished another OOTP Hermione Jumper.  It's the one that I've heard some people call her "Gryffindor Hoodie".....but looking at the Artbox costume trading cards, I found out it had pink stripes.  Anyway....enough blabbing.....without further adeui.....

Greetings and Scarf
Greetings fellow fiber arts fanatics! I'm new to the community, and thought I'd post to say hello, introduce myself, and share my first and thus far only HP related knitting project (now, FINALLY) complete.

My name is Wren, and I've been a closeted HP fan since about a year after the first book came out in the states, and an open HP fan for about a year. In addition, I've been knitting and loving to knit for five years.

I'm also a sorted member of [info]hogwartssorting (Hufflepuff).

I've joined THIS community because I wanted to be able to share my fiber fandom creations, as well as get advice and inspiration from the rest of you!

And on to the knitting. . . )

Well, I hope you enjoy, and I look forward to seeing all the awesome creations from you guys!

Hello!

Over the last month I've been a knitting maniac. Believe it or not, I've only known how to knit for that short period of time, but I knew right away that I was going to have to make a Ravenclaw scarf for myself. Since I'm a fan of the books much more than the movies, it was a given that I'd go with the book colors. Boy, I never realized that finding a bronze-colored yarn would be so hard. I guess I'm a little anal because I refused to settle for a color that wasn't perfect. Here's what I came up with.

Movie Ravenclaws aren't real Ravenclaws. )

New to Community
Hi, I'm a new member, maybe an intro-post issn't necessary. I'm actually a crocheter and my interest is in making mini-dolls. I don't have any pictures yet of my crochet dollies, I've just started working on Harry right now.

Hi everyone!

Has anyone made the gigantic clock blanket from charmed knits? It's such a large project and I'm wondering about how long it might take.

Gah.
I need to stop. Really. But I can't. I'm addicted to all of these stinking scarves.

My last scarf post: Click here
That shows my other scarf projects.

So, my mom's Ravenclaw one still isn't done (its at 12 bars), but i still had to order more yarn. (I'm stupid)

Edited: Safari is being annoying with LJ so i had to fix it all in IE. Sorry

Opal Harry Potter Yarn
Hallo,

I emailed the Opal importer and they say that the Harry Potter Yarn is supposed to be available in September right before the premier of Half Blood Prince!

You can find their webpage here:  with links to the local yarn shops that should have it.

Alright, so according to WB, this is not an official poster of any kind (according to The Leaky Cauldron anyway). I don't care.

DID YOU SEE WHAT THAT STAND IS MARKETING?

Harry Potter yarn!! :D

Questions and Comments
I know you all are busy, so I will make this post quick.

1. Anyone tried Hermione's Knitting Bag from Charmed Knits? That pattern is calling to me to give it a try, even though I have never felted before.

2. Any tips for stash management? I've already bagged them by project.

3. This is not a question but a comment: The Mustard colored Andean Silk yarns are being discontinued at Knit Picks. They are a great color for the darker Gryffindor scarves, so you may want to grab a few extra if you want to use that yarn in a scarf.

One scarf done (almost)!
I'm a proud knitter right now!

I just finished my CoS scarf. All I have to do is wash/block/and add fringe.

Quick question though about all the yarn ends. Did you all weave all the color transitions into the back of the piece or just left them as is? I did the cast-on/cast-off ones obviously but I'm thinking since everything is inside the scarf it shouldn't matter.

Thanks!

ETA: Well, after all the great advice, I decided to just sew the yarn ends in. Didn't take too long. Now I'm just waiting for it to dry so I can add the fringe. EXCITED!!!!

Thank you so much! I'll post a pic when I'm finished.

HP sock patterns
I have Bellatrix, Horcrux, and Fawkes on my work computer, as .pdf files. I have promised to send them to three people; can someone remind me on monday to do so? I'm home for the weekend now. Thanks.

Question:
Last summer, there were many postings of sock patterns that were HP related. At the time, I 'thought' I had saved all .pdf files to my computer because I was still extremely new to knitting. Now with some free time once again, I wanted to attempt to one of those patterns.

However, I am only coming up with two on my computer. Bellatrix and Nagini. Doing google searches lead me nowhere. (Socktopia is down??)

Does anyone have these, or have information on where I can go to obtain all the sock patterns that were posted?

Well I'm knitting hatmione and come to the part to make my first bobble. I have a question, it says to slip the second and third stitch over the first stitch. Is the first stitch the left-most stitch or the right-most stitch? Sorry for the stupid question, just don't want to mess up.

Charmed Knits
I just got the book "Charmed Knits". For those who don't know, it's a knitting book of patterns inspired by the Harry Potter series. Some of the patterns include The Weasley Sweater, Molly's Amazing Technicolor Housecoat, Wizard Robe, Stdent Wizard Cap, House Scarves, House Sweater, Invisibility Shawl, and my personal favorite Clock Blanket. No Stripe-mione though. Maybe they'll come out with a part 2 later down the road. One can hope, right? I can't wait to go to the yarn store and get stuff to make some of these projects. Has anyone here made the clock blanket? I'd love to see how it looks.
